Bah humbug

snoopykid asked for a oneshot of (set during season 1) Mary Margaret trying to celebrate Christmas with Emma, but she is having a hard time convincing Emma to celebrate with her.

"Oh come on Emma!" Mary Margaret pleaded with her. "Just one verse, please? "Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa, la, la, la, la. La, la, la, la! Tis the season to be jolly, fa, la, la, la, la. La, la, la, la!" Emma tried to hide a grimace.

"I'm not really the kind of person who gets mega into Christmas." Emma tried to excuse herself from the carol singing as Mary Margaret decorated the apartment. Her class were rehearsing for the nativity play assembly at school that was coming up, so the teacher was most definitely on a Christmas high. She'd brought home some of the spare crafts that her class had made for the Christmas fair as well.

"Ok, not a fan of deck the halls? Let's switch it up then. "Hark the herald angels sing. "Glory to the newborn king!" Peace on Earth, and mercy mild. God and sinners reconciled…"

"Also not religious so I'm afraid hymns are out anyway." Emma quickly excused herself. Mary Margaret huffed and stuck out her bottom lip.

"Do you have to be such an Ebenezer Scrooge? Am I going to be woken up this evening with you screaming that you're to be haunted by three spirits and are expecting the ghost of Christmas past presently?" Mary Margaret teased her. Emma just laughed.

"Bah Humbug." She said, sticking her tongue out. "I think Tiny Tim is safe from the grave this year. Although it makes you happy I'll have a random child fetch the biggest goose from the butchers on Christmas day and give it to a random family?" Emma quipped back. Mary Margaret rolled her eyes. Maybe not this year, but one year, she would have Emma Swan loving Christmas.

How were either of them to know that the next Christmas they'd be sitting down to Christmas dinner together for the first time as mother and daughter?
