Too young to work
CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of Emma getting de-aged to 15 but still trying to do everything she normally would, including going to work.
Emma loved having magic, but sometimes, it was more trouble than it was worth. Such as when she made a mess of her omelette, but instead of turning it back into three whole, raw, eggs. She turned herself into a fifteen-year-old. According to Regina, it would sort itself out…in a few days. In the meantime, Emma was stuck looking like a teenager. She still had her adult mindset and all her memories were intact, but whenever she caught her reflection she gave herself a fright.
Emma was determined to live her life as normally as possible for the short amount of time she was stuck like this. So on Monday morning, she came down the stairs in a pair of jeans and a shirt her parents had got her to tide her over while her proper clothes didn't fit.
"Morning Em." Snow said, sliding her over a glass of OJ (coffee had been banned for the time being). "What are you doing up so early? I thought you would have liked the chance of a lie in. Could you just not sleep past your usual time?" Snow asked her. Emma took a sip of her juice.
"Why would I get a chance of a lie in. I've got work this morning." She reminded both. Snow and Charming looked at each other. Silently, they argued over who was going to take the fall on this one. Apparently, Emma was under the impression that she was still able to perform her duties as co-sheriff. That was their daughter; stubborn. Charming lost the argument.
"Em…you're not coming into work today." He told her, wincing in preparation for his daughter's reaction. Sure enough, Emma spluttered out her OJ.
"What?!" She squeaked, thumping her glass on the counter. "Guys, come on! Just because I'm a little shorter than usual doesn't mean I've suddenly forgotten how to handle perps. I can do my job. It's not fair making dad do it all by himself until this fixes itself." Emma pointed out.
"Then just as well I won't be alone. Red and the dwarves will be helping me out while you're having a little vacation." He said. Emma's eyes narrowed dangerously. Snow and Charming braced themselves. They knew that look from when Emma was full sized. Now that she was a teenager, they suspected it would be a whole lot worse.
"I can't believe you two! Don't you think it's bad enough being stuck like this, not knowing when I'll be back to normal, without taking everything I love away from me?! First you took coffee, then you took away me being allowed to use my magic and now you won't let me go to work?! Fine! I'll sit around here all day and do sod all!" Emma got up from the counter and stomped upstairs. Snow and Charming watched her go, dumbfounded.
"She may have her adult mind, but she certainly has her teenage hormones." Snow grumbled.
"Please." Charming pleaded. "I don't want to think of her having hormones." Snow rolled her eyes. Right now, she didn't really want Emma to have hormones either. She just hoped regular Emma was back soon.
