Not a boy

Addict asked for a oneshot of Snowing have three daughters with Emma being the youngest. Her older sisters tell her that Charming was disappointed she wasn't a boy. Charming assures her that he loves having three girls and wouldn't trade her for the world.

Charming loved it when he got random strokes of luck, as most of us do. So when he was told that a neighbouring kingdom had decided to instantly agree to a new trade agreement, that cleared up at least an hour of his day he'd planned to spend doing the paperwork for the new deal. So he decided he'd go and see all his girls, see what they were up to. Snow was in a meeting when he went to visit her, so he'd return to her later on. His two eldest daughters, Marali and Alysa, were both in their lessons. So Charming walked down the corridor to little Emma's room to spend some time playing with her, since she was too young to have started lessons yet.

"Where's my little princess then?" Charming asked, coming into the room grinning. But his smile faded when he didn't see his usual happy, smiley girl. Instead, Emma was sitting on her nanny's knee and she was crying. "Aw baby, what's the matter?" He asked, coming over and crouching down beside her.

"She won't tell me." Rebecca, the nanny, sighed. "Normally she's very open about what's upset her." Charming frowned. If she wasn't telling Rebecca, that meant something had seriously upset her.

"Rebecca, would you mind giving us a minute?" He asked her. Rebecca nodded. She passed Emma over to Charming, curtseyed, and left the nursery. Charming sat down on the seat Rebecca had been sitting on with Emma now cuddled into his lap. "Now princess, why don't you tell daddy what's upset you so much?" He asked her. Emma shook her head clinging to him. Charming's didn't like this one bit. Emma never hid things from him or Snow. "Emma, honey, I can't help you if you don't tell me what's upsetting you. Whatever it is can be fixed." He promised her.

"Not this." Emma sniffled. "Marali and Alysa said you wanted me to be a boy."

"What?" Charming asked her, confused.

"They said you don't love me the same because I was another girl." Emma started crying again. Charming quickly wrapped his arms around her securely. He wasn't sure exactly how he was feeling right now. Devastated for Emma that she actually thought that was true, or both disappointed and angry with her sisters for telling her such nonsense.

"Emma Ruth, you listen to me." Charming said gently. He pulled Emma back so she was looking at him. "I love having three beautiful little girls. I couldn't love you less if I tried. You're my baby girl, Emma. How could I love you less because you weren't a boy? I'll be having a word with your sisters. That was very nasty of them telling you this when it's very untrue. I love you just as much as I love both of them." Emma stared at her daddy with her big green eyes that were so like her mother's.

"You promise daddy?" Emma asked him. Charming leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"I promise, sweetheart." He assured her. "How could I not love having all my girls? That way I'm always the most handsome man in the house." He told her, delighting in the way it made her giggle. He got up, moving Emma to his hip. "Now, why don't we go have a nice tea party in the garden. Just you and me?" He said, knowing how much Emma loved tea parties. Emma grinned, nodding. Charming moved Emma onto his back. "Then saddle up, princess. We're going for a trot!" He told her, bouncing her all the way down the corridor. He loved hearing her laughter ring out through the whole castle. He couldn't care less about Emma being a girl, or either of his other daughters, he loved them all to the moon and back.
