It's about time for an update huh? 5 months later. I have been editing this, and reposting on AO3, and since I have finished the editing of what was written, I am now able to continue updating this. That being said, I am also adding more chapters in the longer gaps so updates here will not be frequent. I am still basing some updates here on ICSQ prompts because my brain is fried and motivation/imagination is low.

"So I've been talking to Nicholas about camp and he said that we have to submit a piece of creative writing. Now I've been working on this piece for a few days and I'm nearly done but I was hoping you guys might be able to help me a little, there's some things I just want to run by you to make sure it makes sense." The trio were eating dinner after a relatively uneventful day and the meal had been a somewhat quiet affair. Regina and Emma had been trying to plan time off to take for their honeymoon, and had as yet, been unsuccessful. Regina had made sure to leave work earlier to cook dinner, while Emma finished off some paperwork and they were both planning to sit down together that evening with their schedules and work something out.

Regina glanced up at Henry from stabbing at her lettuce with a confused frown as Emma chuckled at the perplexed look that the brunettes shared. "Kid, you're the author… you really think that your mother and I would be able to offer you any assistance here?" Regina turned to her fiancée and raised an eyebrow, not needing to verbalise her frustration at the other woman. She looked to her son again. "What can we help you with dear?"
He finished the bite he was chewing before smirking at his blonde mother, turning back to the woman who asked him the question. "Well I don't have everything in front of me, but there were a couple of things. First, the plot. It's too late for me to change the plot now, but I at least want to see if it's something you think people would read…"

Emma nodded, taking a large bite out of her burger, loudly announcing to the rest of the table. "I'll have you know…" Regina glared at her fiancée at her bad habits, wiping her cheek with a napkin.

"Say it, don't spray it!" She almost gagged when Emma, in retaliation, stuck out her tongue at the brunette woman, half masticated food visible. She kicked her leg under the table, smirking at the grunt of pain that came from the blonde.

"Henry, we will discuss your writing after dinner. Finish up, help your mother with the dishes and then both of you meet me in my study. I suggest it's done sooner rather than later because otherwise it's going to be a long evening, and Emma, you're on the early shift tomorrow." She waited for both of them to acknowledge her request and nod their assent before she stood and left the room, forcing herself not to smile when she heard Henry's outcry of "Ew, Ma! Gross!" assuming she'd done the same to him that she had done to her.

She settled into her study, reading through her emails and responding to the important ones as she waited for her fiancée and their son. She'd got through about 200 when the door squeaked open and Henry walked in carrying her favourite mug with what she hoped was her favourite coffee. Emma followed shortly after with some files and her laptop. When Henry placed the mug down, smiling back at the warm grin that Regina shot his way, he made his way out of the room, returning minutes later with his own laptop, settling down on the sofa next to Emma.

So I just have a few minor edits I want to make, and I have a few questions, then I'll leave you guys alone to do your wedding stuff. He shivered, as if to say the idea of wedding planning was worse than anything else he could think of. Emma grinned as Regina rolled her eyes in their direction, Henry ignoring the looks his mothers were sharing.

"Ok, so I spent a lot of time looking through the thesaurus but this is the longest piece I've ever written and I don't want to be too repetitive on my adjectives so my first question… Is there a word that's a mix between 'sad' and 'mad'?" Regina pondered for a moment, before nodding.

"You could use… malcontented, disgruntled, miserable, desolated…" Henry began to type quickly, the room quiet while he edited his work. It was only silent for a moment.

"Smad." The noise of typing ceased as both Henry and Regina turned to face the blonde at her word, floundering at the smug grin she had, ever so proud of herself for solving Henry's problem. Henry raised a brow at his younger mother.

"Are you sure they didn't damage something during your surgery ma?" He obviously meant it as a joke, but realised at the silence in the room that it probably wasn't the thing he should be joking about. Emma looked angry, but the tension dropped from her face as Regina burst out laughing, holding her stomach as she laughed harder and harder. Emma just watched her, half bemused and half questioning at the sight as she ended up curling into herself as she chuckled. Henry looked between his mothers, not missing the adoring gaze that Emma was directing at Regina and decided to use the internet to answer his questions. He shut his laptop and stood, just about hearing his mother's laughs turn to sobs as he left the room. He debated going back but knew his mother was in good hands with his ma as he heard her get up and try to calm the mayor, murmuring words he couldn't make out.

He returned to his room and made quick work of his editing, sending it to Nicholas to read over, before pulling a book from one of his many bookshelves to settle down. He debated going to see his mothers to apologise but as he moved to the door to open it, he heard his parents door shut at the other end of the hallway and sat back down. He knew he got his big mouth from Emma, but also his compassion, and he knew that she was the best person to help the mother who raised him.
