It had been a late start for the pair but by the time 7:30 rolled around, they were more than a little tipsy, and awaiting the remainder of their guests. It was another party similar to their bridal shower, except there were no men, and everyone in attendance was of drinking age, and were drinking like it was their duty. It was a small gathering, their bridesmaids plus a few others so they could have a night without having to live up to the expectations of their towns residents. Regina had made sure she invited Mary Margaret before anyone else to show it was a genuine invitation, but the slightly younger woman had refused the offer, her reasoning that she didn't want to make Emma uncomfortable. Emma had made sure to text her mother when she had found out, telling her she would love for her to attend, but Mary Margaret stood firm, not wanting them to feel awkward or for them to modify their behaviour around her. Emma had promised that at some point before the wedding, she would take her out and they could spend some time together.
Zelena, being Zelena had been at the mansion since five pm and had been slowly drinking ever since. The other three bridesmaids had arrived around 7 and had bought bottles of wine and sweet treats to enjoy. The other attendees arrived before 8 and the drinking continued, music playing, the guests enjoying their time away from their kids and spouses. Emma was in the kitchen speaking to Belle and Red when Zelena ran in, Regina following close behind. Zelena was smirking and holding what looked to be Regina's phone in the air above her head. She was taunting her little sister, and Regina, now edging on the side of drunk, was looking teary. "Emmaaaaa. Make her stoppppp." Emma frowned as the redhead poked her tongue out at the smaller brunette, turning to face her fiancée. She had consumed two shots after a beer since the remaining guests arrived and she was feeling ultra-protective of the love of her life. She stepped towards the pair of sisters and kicked Zelena in the shin, forgetting that she was barefoot for the moment. She howled in exaggerated pain and curled into Regina when she instantly by her side. Zelena was smirking at the situation, barely affected by the attack, and shook her head at the pair as Regina led Emma out of the room. They went upstairs, Emma following Regina like a puppy, the pair holding hands as they climbed the stairs to their bedroom. Regina was getting a little overwhelmed, which Emma could see when they sat down on their bed together, Regina leaning her head on Emma's shoulder.
"Something bothering you my love?" Regina didn't say anything, only reached for Emma's hand for them to link fingers.
"I've just been thinking a lot about what's coming up. Henry's birthday, the wedding, him going to camp, the honeymoon. I just worry that things might get too much for you." Emma pulled away, glaring at Regina in annoyance.
"I can't believe you would say that. I don't run anymore, that's not who I am anymore!" Regina looked shocked at the outburst before her eyes widened in realisation.
"No, sweetheart, that's not what I'm saying!" She reached for Emma's hand again, refusing to let it go when she tried to pull away. "I mean with your health. It's a lot of stress and a lot of excitement, and you're still recovering. I want you to be able to enjoy everything we have coming up. You deserve all the happiness in the world and it's your time. I just want you to be happy and healthy and to live your life in the way you want. Emma crinkled her nose as she regarded her drunk fiancée, the speech she had given sounding like she was remarkably sober. She leaned forward to kiss her laughing as the mayor hiccupped. They remained sat together for a few moments, sharing soft kisses until Regina pulled back, just as Emma was tracing her fingers up the older woman's skirt.
"Emma, we have guests downstairs! Keep your hands to yourself for a few more hours and then we have all of tomorrow to make the most of our alone time. We should get back to our guests." Emma groaned, reluctantly removing her hand from under Regina's skirt, before she took a deep breath and stood up, straightening herself out. She was flustered and could see her fiancée was too. She wanted to break the sexual tension and calm them both down before they went downstairs in a state Zelena would tease them for.
"Ok, quick test before we start drinking again. You test me first. I can do quick math." Regina raised her brow, knowing that in the state they were both in, she could not do quick math.
"Alright then, what is 29 multiplied by 63?" Emma answered without missing a beat.
"37." Regina snorted at the smug look on her face and chuckled.
"That's not even remotely close my dear." Emma nodded, stepping to Regina before she pulled her close.
"But it was quick!" Regina shook her head in mirth, leaning forward to capture the blonde's lips in a final kiss, before pulling away again to go and join the rest of the party. Emma groaned before following along after her.
When they arrived back downstairs, they could see they hadn't been missed. Their guests were drinking, chatting, and enjoying themselves as the pair walked into the kitchen hand in hand. Zelena was sat on the countertop, drinking directly from a bottle of wine, swinging her legs as she smirked at the pair.
"Well well… that was a little quick. I hope you're satisfying my sister sheriff!" Regina's eyes widened and she looked around quickly to make sure no one had overheard, but Emma just grinned, too drunk to tell her soon to be sister in law off.
"I'll have you know that Regina is always thoroughly satisfied. Now get off our counter and pour Regina some wine." She paused as Zelena jumped down, grabbing a glass. "From a fresh bottle Zel, Jesus Christ!" She gave Regina's hand a squeeze, wanting to go and see some of the other guests. Regina watched her leave before she turned back to Zelena who was holding out a glass of wine with a neutral expression. Her expression changed when she saw how Regina was smiling to herself.
"Wow… I've seen her ass Reggie, I don't think it warrants that smile." She was joking of course, she was happy that her sister was happy, but she was surprised when Regina didn't even correct her use of the nickname she hated.
"You're happy right? This, Emma, it's what you want? Regina's smile only widened as she considered the question.
"Emma is the love of my life… If marrying her is what it takes to be with her for the rest of my life, then marrying her is what I will do." Zelena's look turned inquisitive and almost concerned.
"You say that like you don't want to marry her. If she's pressuring you into this…?"
"No, no I didn't mean it like that. I was the first to ask her if she wanted to marry me. I can't wait to be married to her. I'm just… I'm concerned. She isn't in the best of health and I don't want everything to get too much for her. I don't want her to end up back in hospital. That was a really difficult time for all of us. She deserves the whole entire world and I want to make sure she gets it. She glared as Zelena began to gag and make vomit noises.
"You two are so in love it sickens me." The wide smile on the redheads face showed that she was not being rude, and that she was in fact happy for her sister. Regina just rolled her eyes and poured back the wine, holding out her glass for a refill, which her sister gladly offered.
The sisters sat in the kitchen for a little while longer, drinking and talking until they heard a clearly drunk Red call for speeches. With a sigh, Regina knocked back the glass she was drinking and stood to go into the room where most of the guests were congregated. She swayed dizzily, only standing straight when Zelena hooked their arms and held her up. They walked arm in arm into the main room, Regina gasping as she saw Emma standing precariously on the coffee table, holding a beer, proclaiming to the group of girls that were gathered around her. Regina wanted to tell her to get down, or at least go and support her, until she heard what Emma was saying.
"Getting married is the bravest most wonderful thing you can do, because every day you come home and you're just like whaaaaat? It's you! I love you! You're my sexy roommate and we love each other!"
"Whooo! She's talking about me!" The group laughed as Regina squealed and reached forward to grab Emma when she stepped off the table, pulling her into an almost indecent kiss. Emma, more drunk than she had ever been in front of their friends, held Regina close, groping her backside as the guests whooped and hollered, causing Regina to slap her hands away.
"At least wait until our guests have left Miss Swan, I have an early wedding present to give you." She had tied to purr the words into Emma's ear but her drunken state made that impossible. Emma pulled away, wide eyed and turned around to the group.
"Ok, everyone out!"
