Adopting the princess

SwanQueenSnowing asked for a oneshot of Snowing adopting a 5 year old Emma in the EF from an orphanage. When she sees her huge room and all her toys, she freaks out, jumping on the bed in excitement.

Guest: look and see stories are ones where the request is over 75 words long and I cbb typing it all out. I would still need a request lol.

Lily: Sorry, but as I've said previously, if you want a sequel request, you'll need to make it within 100 chapters of the chapter you want a sequel from being posted.

Happy new year, everyone! I hope 2017 is good to you all :).

Snow and Charming knew there were issues with poverty in their kingdom. As there were in all kingdoms. It was a frustrating fact of life that was difficult for any ruler. Snow and Charming both did their absolute best to have it at as low a rate as possible, but there were some things there was simply nothing the rulers could do about. Such as parents dying or abandoning their children. Both made sure all the orphanages in their kingdom were happy, comfortable places for any children that ended up in them, but it was still uncomfortable knowing there were any children in Misthaven without any parents to tuck them into bed at night. They couldn't do much more for all these children, but for one, they could.

Emma hated spending her day in the orphanage. She might only be five, but she knew how to take care of herself. She'd been on her own for a few months before she'd been taken in by the orphanage. They were nice enough people. She got three square meals a day and the lady who ran it gave cuddles, but Emma still felt she was best on her own. So whenever she could, she snuck off for the day and came back for dinner. It was on one of her little excursions that she unknowingly bumped into the royals of the kingdom. Emma didn't recognise the face of the queen when she bumped into her at the market.

"Sorry Miss." She had mumbled. The lady had smiled down so fondly at her. Emma didn't know it, but Snow was looking at this adorable little girl with her heart aching. How she wished she and Charming could have a child of their own…but George had put an abrupt end to that dream.

"That's quite alright." Snow had responded kindly. She looked around, but could see no adult with the little girl, nor any who seemed to be looking for her. "Where are your parents, sweetheart?" Emma bit her bottom lip. She didn't want to lie. Lying was wrong.

"Uh, they're not here." Emma responded vaguely.

"Ok. Where do you live? We'll make sure you get home safely." Charming asked her. He didn't want to leave a helpless little girl all on her own. Emma sighed. They weren't going to leave her, and it was too busy in the bustling marketplace to run. Emma looked down at her feet.

"I live in the orphanage." She said quietly. "My parents didn't want me." Snow and Charming felt heartbroken for the little girl. How could anybody not want her? She was so sweet. Clearly smart if she was able to sneak off here alone. Snow and Charming looked at each other, having one of their silent conversations. They weren't a couple who normally made rash decisions without days of thinking and proper conversation, but both knew they'd make an exception here. They didn't want to risk the chance of another couple snapping her up.

"What's your name, little one?" Snow asked her kindly.

"Emma." The little girl answered.

"Well then, Emma, come on. We need to have a little chat with whoever runs your orphanage." Emma gulped, thinking they were going to tell Mrs Harem she had run away again. Then she might end out back on the street. Never in her wildest dreams would the little girl think this couple were wanting to adopt her…and that they were the royalty of the kingdom.

Three days later, Emma found herself up on Charming's shoulders, heading into the palace. Her little eyes were filled with wonder as she looked around at her grand surroundings. She certainly wouldn't be running away from here.

"Want to see your room?" Snow asked the little girl, now her little girl, seeing her excited little face. Emma nodded enthusiastically. Charming got her off his shoulders, with both him and Snow taking one of her hands. They lead her up the stairs towards the bedroom besides theirs, that had now been turned into Emma's nursery. Snow pushed open the door, and let Emma see inside. Her mouth dropped open at the sight. Emma had never seen so many toys.

"These are all mine? I don't have to share?" She asked them. Charming chuckled.

"All yours, honey." He assured her. Emma squealed in delight. She ran into her new room. She grabbed a stuffed giraffe toy and leapt up onto her new bed. It was so soft, and she bet it would be cosy to sleep in. But for now, it was great to bounce on. Snow leaned her head against Charming's chest as they both watched her from the doorway. She was just so happy. They knew they should be discouraging jumping on the bed…but disciplining their daughter could wait until tomorrow and beyond.
