A hidden scar

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma actually being cut during the race to the wardrobe, but Charming not noticing because of the blanket. He sees a scar on Emma as an adult. She has never known what it was, but now he does. He goes into protective daddy Charming mode out of guilt.

Emma never thought in all those years of watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S that she would be experiencing one of the situations from the show. The heating had broken at her parents' house. Years of living by herself had taught Emma a few handiness skills, so she had offered to come over and try and fix it before they forked out on a plumber. The heat was near unbearable. Emma was wearing a spaghetti strap vest top and a pair of denim shorts as she tried to sort out the issue. Charming came through with a fresh glass of ice cold water for her. He set it down on the coffee table for her. As he did, he saw something on Emma's shoulder he had never noticed before. Emma turned around when she felt someone staring at her.

"Have I got grease over me or something?" She asked her dad. Charming shook his head, continuing to stare at her shoulder. He bent down, and gently brushed his index finger against a thin line on Emma's shoulder.

"What's this?" He asked. Emma shrugged, going back to the radiator.

"Dunno. I've had it since I can remember. I assumed I cut it at the Swans." Emma told him. She heard her dad gasp. When she looked round, she had recoiled. "Dad, what's the big deal? It's just an old scar. It's tiny. I've never felt it hurt." Emma assured him. Charming shook his head.

"You didn't get that at the Swans." He croaked. "I know where that scar is from." Emma set down her spanner and turned to look at him so he could explain. She could see that he was feeling upset. "When I carried you to the wardrobe, I got hurt by one of Regina's knights. I didn't care though. What mattered was that you weren't hurt." Charming then gestured to her scar. "Clearly though, you were." Emma looked at her little scar.

"Huh. Guess I got to take a souvenir over to this world, huh?" Charming sighed, rubbing his temple.

"That's not funny, Emma." Charming told her. He suddenly snapped his gaze up. "Did you ever get a tetanus shot for that? Who knows what that sword had on it?! We need to get you to the hospital ASAP…" Emma laughed.

"Dad, if I had tetanus it would have shown itself by now. Relax, it's an old scar. You did the best you could and you kept me safe. There was no way you could have known. My blanket's thick and would have hidden the tiny amount of blood from the cut." Emma made sure to emphasise that there was only a little amount of blood so he wouldn't panic. "I'm fine. Honest. Well, providing I don't die of heat stroke before this is fixed." Emma joked. She suddenly found the water right under her nose. Emma laughed, taking the glass. She wondered how long this particularly protective streak would last.
