Guest- thank you, I will!

Captainmcshizzle aka JoeBob- lol, my man didn't even realize annabeth had any friends. Percy let ethan pin him, he knew he was a mortal and couldn't just slice his head off, he did push him tho, besides Percy is nice and realized that Ethan didn't mean any harm... not yet anyways...

Potatoqueensnow- yup... also ethan doesn't like harper just fyi, cuz I know he described her like that.

Blackthornfam13- bruh, your story is a million times better than mine, its actually really well written and was kinda my inspiration sooooo. Thank you so much!

Carrot lord- aww don't say that, he really is trying

I JUST REALIZED THAT I FORGOT TO SAY THAT HARPER DRESSED UP AS ARTEMIS.

Oh well that's that.

Chapter 5:

Annabeths pov:

I heard a muffled sound of rage. I'd heard enough in my life time to know what that sounded like. Gods, what has Percy done now? I ran to the front door. Percy wasn't going to be eaten, not on my watch.

I ran out of the front door and quickly hid my knife behind my back at the sight of Ethan. I raise my eyebrow at his appearance. He looked like a walmart version of... zeus?

Percy stole the words right out of my mouth, "what are you wearing?"

Ethan blushed, "it's Zeus, duh!".

I laughed.

Percy read my thoughts again and said, "Zeus doesn't wear bedsheets"

Ethan rolled his eyes, "oh and I suppose you've met Zeus"

Percy's eyes glittered and he grinned- his signature troublemakers grin, "I'm Percy and you're... Ethan, right"

I nodded my head and went over to Percy, "Ethan meet Percy, my closest friend, Percy meet Ethan"

Ethan pov:

Ok did I mishear her? I thought that I was her closest friend... not some random criminal called Percy.

Ok maybe I'm her best friend and Percy is just a close friend. I couldn't help but notice that she didn't introduce me with any title.

"wait Percy is the guy who's coming to stay with you?", I asked. Surely her parents wouldn't let her stay with some random street urchin unless... her parents didn't know.

"yeah", she replied.

"your parents are ok with that"

She shrugged, "they couldn't care less"

She was scowling at the floor now, damn it, I forgot that she had family issues.

"wait what are you even doing here? I thought you finish at 7:30"

"I uhh hurt my leg"

Percy glanced at it, "you sure?"

I shifted my weight to the other foot.

" sooo are you gonna let me in?"

Annabeth walked in and gestured for us to follow.

Ethan pov:

Well this is awkward, 5 minutes in and no one bothered to even make conversation. Well, they were watching a horror movie... I had kinda interrupted right in the middle of it so as soon as I followed them back inside, they kinda just got back to the movie.

I was forced to sit on a separate couch from the one Percy and Annabeth were sitting on; the couch in front of the tv was only a two-seater and that's where they were sitting. I was sitting on the recliner at the side, forgotten, a third wheel at my own best friend's house. Percy and Annabeth are just friends, I reminded myself.

For some reason I assumed Annabeths friend would be a girl, I guess that's my fault although she could have given me a heads up.

I couldn't stand the boredom anymore, none of them were speaking to me. I jumped in front of tv and waved my hands in front of their faces.

"ok, I'm getting bored, let's play something", I said.

"if you'd come by 7:30, you wouldn't have been bored", Annabeth said point fully.

Ouch. That stung.

She sighed and put of the tv, "ok, what do you want to do till the rest of them come"

"a game?", Percy suggested.

Annabeth rolled her eyes, "yes, seaweed brain, but what game?"

"seaweed brain?", I intercepted, what kind of nick name was that?

"because his brain is full of kelp"

I laughed; I was glad to see her making fun of him.

"if you're so smart why don't you choose, wisegirl"

They went back on fourth for a few minutes untill I couldn't take it anymore, "why don't we just speak and get to know each other"

They looked at each other and shrugged, "fine by me", they said simultaneously.

I narrowed my eyes at them, I wasn't getting any sort of romantic vibe from them... I was still uncomfortable to see them so... comfortable with each other. They might just be cousins or something, I managed to convince myself even if they looked nothing alike. Yeah that explains it.

We were sitting in a circle on the carpet in Annabeths room. I'd been here a few times but it felt different now with Percy here.

"so", I asked casually, "how'd you guys meet"

Annabeth raised her eyebrow at me, "at camp"

My forehead crumpled, camp? What was that.

Percy looked at my face, "seriously wise girl, you didn't even tell him about camp?"

I felt embarrassed and I didn't even know why. How come this... stranger knew about this camp and I didn't. Who did this guy think he is... waltzing in here with a smirk on his face and humiliating me? I shook my head, I shouldn't think like that, those probably weren't even his intentions... or were they? Whatever I'll just try to ignore him.

I couldn't help but notice how natural their friendship was, how they always said the right things, I hate to admit it but I was getting jealous. Wow! That's new. Me! Jealous!

Annabeth crossed her arms and glared at him.

Percy laughed again.

She elbowed him.

I won't lie. Seeing them squabble made me feel better but it still didn't answer my question.

"guys, hellooo, what camp are you talking about"

Percy shrugged and looked over at Annabeth meaningfully.

She sighed, "camp is where I spent the last 5 years of my life"

That surprised me, I never really thought about where she was living. I kinda just imagined her on the street.

"so how did u meet Percy then?"

Percy answered for her, which i found incredibly rude and demeaning, "camp"

I was stunned, "you ran away too?".

"no"

I looked at them both, awaiting further explanation but they didn't give it to me so I just dropped it.

"wait, what kind of camp allows random homeless kids to live with them?"

Percy and Annabeth shared a wary look, "its a year-round camp, we get free education, free health care, you name it", Annabeth answered this time.

I nodded my head, deep in thought. It didn't seem like Annabeth was lying but at the same time I could tell she wasn't telling me the full truth. I shrugged it off.

Annabeth and Percy were looking bored out of their mind, they weren't even tring to hide the sheer disinterest on their faces.

Percy's sea green eyes roamed the room, I could tell he'd never been here before. I, on the other hand, had been in her room. I resisted the urge to smirk.

Finally, Annabeth stood up and claimed that she was going to get ready. I realized with a start that it was already friends would be here in another 30 minutes.

Me and Percy were left sitting opposite each other, in an awkward silence.

"so, Percy, when did you and Annabeth meet?", I asked casually.

"last summer"

That surprised me a bit, I had expected him to know her for a bit longer but I realized, rather smugly, that he'd only known Annabeth for a bit longer than me. I was even more elated when I remembered that I saw her every single day. Ha, he has nothing on me!

I could barely contain my smile, "cool, sooo, where do you live?"

Percy looked at me bewildered and I quickly wiped the grin from my face.

"I uhm", he cleared his throat, "I live in Manhattan"

Not too far away from here. Only 30 minutes away (me and Annabeth live in Brooklyn) I was pretty sure that Percy was intimidated by me .I wasn't sure why... Maybe he realized how close me and Annabeth were?

Percy fished something out of his pocket. It was a mask.

"aren't you changing?", I asked him.

His ears turned red, "uh no, I was... too lazy, I'm just wearing a mask"

I nodded my head; he was probably too cheap to buy a real costume. Speaking of which, I'd expected Annabeth to like my costume, instead she and Percy snickered about it, I didn't get what was so funny. Well, if she found my costume bad wait till, she saw Percy's. I didn't understand why she had an inside joke with this Percy character, especially when she barely ever laughed at my jokes. I had just pinned it down to her self-consciousness, but clearly, she was just not as comfortable with me as she was with him.

Now that I was sitting here with Percy... well he didn't seem to bad but... there was just something off about him. For the most part he came off as awkward but for all I knew he could be a completely different person without me around. Hmph, I'd have to keep a close eye on him.

The doorbell rang and Percy quickly stood up, probably to go check but I wouldn't let him get the chance. I was Annabeth's closest friend, I had to open the door.

"I'll go"

Percy had a slight confused and annoyed expression on his face but shrugged, put on his mask and followed after me.

I opened the door and was greeted by the rest of my friends, they had grins on their faces- well accept for Liam who was wearing a mask- Joshua was wiggling his eyebrows at me, celeste was looking excited and harper was looking unusually withdrawn. That's just great. Two of my friends were sad today; Joshua and harper. I'd have to talk to her later.

"well, Ethan, aren't you doing to invite us in?", his eyes glinted mischievously and I resisted the urge to smack him.

"you forgot to introduce me", Percy stated sarcastically.

I jumped; I'd forgotten that he was standing right behind. I opened the door gesturing for my friends to come in.

I gritted my teeth, "this is Percy", I paused, " Annabeths friend that's staying over today"

Joshua nodded his head casually and looked over at percy, "hey man, nice to meet you, I'm Joshua",

Percy shook his hand.

Line break

Harpers pov:

We entered Annabeths living room and sat on the couch. For some strange reason ethan quickly jumped into the two-seater opposite the tv, it looked like Percy was going to say something but he just raised his eyebrows and sat on the other couch. I looked between the two of them. Percy looked pretty chill, he had taken of his mask because it was itching him, he was sitting on the couch and had found interest in a painting on the wall, he didn't look too bothered by anything. I wasn't attracted to him but I have to admit his features were compelling, he had bright sea green eyes and tussled hair, he looked like a nice person. Then there was Ethan who had muddy brown eyes and straight blond hair which fell over his eyes. he had rounded out facial features and a button nose, kind off like a puppy. He was cute in a way; the complete opposite of Percy who had vague Greek features, sharp nose and a fading tan. Right now, Ethan didn't resemble anything close to a puppy, he had his arms crossed and was scowling in Percy's direction. When I first met Ethan 3 years ago, I thought he was nice, but he has started to reveal his true colors and I don't like them.

Ethan has been my friend for a long time, friends don't give up on friends, and I can't give up on him. Even if he hurts me, he doesn't do it on purpose. It's my fault not his. I wish I could be different.

Annabeth walked into the room, "hey guys"

My jaw dropped.

She was stunning.

She was wearing a bronze war helmet and armor on top of an off-white tunic. She was wearing sandals and held a spear in her hand. as usual her strange necklace was perched on her collar bones, it clashed with her costume but I didn't point it out. She looked beautiful, there's nothing I would change. Her blonde princess curls flowed down her back like a waterfall, her grey eyes were stormy, intimidating but strangely enticing. I would stare into them all night long if it were up to me... but it wasn't.

Snap out of it. That's just Annabeth.

Ethan pov

When Annabeth walked in, I almost started drooling. She looked... hot!

Her long curly hair was kept from her face with a bronze helmet, her tanned skin glowed; lighting up the room, her bright smile was contagious and I couldn't help but... just stare at her. Her eyes were stormy but there was a hint of happiness in them. She looked powerful, like she wasn't a child but a Greek goddess instead.

I quickly uncrossed my arms and tried looking more friendly, since she probably would come and sit next to me. This is where she was sitting earlier, it was probably her favorite spot, hence why she was sitting there with Percy instead of me.

I looked over at Percy whose expression was far away, and then he grinned, "you look just like your mother".

he snickered and annabeth slapped his arm, "shut up seaweed brain"

To my surprise Annabeth plopped down beside him. Huh? Why would she do that? She probably didn't see me.

"are you blind, have you even seen Mrs. chase! Annabeth looks nothing like her", I retorted on the behalf of Annabeth.

I felt the urge to defend her, Annabeth looked nothing like Helen, Annabeth was gorgeous. I looked over at Annabeth expecting to see a grateful smile on her face but she looked embarrassed.

"why would Annabeth look like Mrs. chase?", Percy asked innocently, "she isn't-"

Annabeth elbowed Percy in his ribs- which felt satisfying- he barely winced... she probably went easy on him because he's weak. Whenever she hits me... yeah it hurts... a lot.

She cleared her throat, "as Percy was saying", she shot him an evil look, " Helen isn't my biological mother".

"wait what... you didn't tell me! How come I've never seen your real mother, doesn't she ever come to visit?", I pressed.

I was shocked, Annabeth had never told me?I felt so betrayed, I didn't know but Percy knew. c'mon, I was her best friend, Percy was just some random hooligan. I had been to Annabeth's house so many times and not once had I seen her mother.

Annabeth had an irritated look on her face, "it isn't any of your business! Besides I've barely met my mother, why would she see you".

I blushed, clearly I'd insulted her, "ok ok, I'm sorry, I just thought that you'd have told me", I didn't add the part where I found it weird that shed told Percy.

She scowled and turned away.

Percy edged away from her, as if scared she would hit him. Wimp.

Celeste, Liam and harper were awkwardly sitting on the ground.

Celeste cleared her throat and Annabeth looked down at them as if just noticing them.

She cursed in some foreign language and dragged Percy up from his seat, "ouch, I think you bruised me", he stated.

"get up seaweed brain, you aren't light"

He blushed, "why do I have to move?"

She rolled her eyes, "are we going to let our guests sit on the ground then, kelp head"

"ok, fine... owl head"

She and Percy squished into the couch that I was sitting in. Annabeth was in between me and Percy. She told celeste, harper and Liam to sit on the other two-seater and Joshua to sit on the recliner.

"all done", she said proudly

The strawberry scent of her hair wafted into my nose and I tried not to inhale to deeply.

"I know!", Celeste gasped, "how about introductions"

She said it smoothly but there was definitely an undertone to her voice; I realized with a start that Percy was exactly the type of guy she'd find cute. She wanted to know more about him. this wasn't a bad thing... I mean sure, it made me jealous that celeste found him cute but not me... but I was good-looking, better than Percy. Everyone knew that blonds were superior. She'd just known me for too long to find me cute.

Celeste wasn't bad looking either, there was no way that Percy would turn away the chance for a girl like celeste.

"Percy why don't you go first?", Celeste continued

"umm", he clearly didn't prepare an answer, "I guess... I like blue food, umm, my last name is Jackson, I live in Manhattan". He looked at Annabeth who sighed.

What's blue food? This guy is crazy, how could Annabeth have ended up as this idiot's friend.

"cool", celeste continued, "where are you from?"

"woah", Percy laughed nervously while rubbing the back of his neck, "that's complicated, I'm Greek I guess"

I didn't understand, complicated? How complicated could it get?

Celeste sadly didn't express my thoughts, "Greek! Wow"

Annabeth was staring at celeste with a suspicious look on her face, I wondered what that was about, Annabeth and celeste got along well usually.

"complicated?", I asked.

Percy looked at Annabeth for help, "umm, my dad... got lost at sea, when I was young, so I never really knew him"

"why don't you just ask your mom"

Percy shot me an evil look, if looks could kill...

I held my ground, I was tougher than Percy, I was second best on my swim team, I played sports, I was fit. He was nothing compared to me.

"my mom only knew him for a few months"

I tried to process what he was saying.

He rolled his eyes, I nodded my head, "you were-"

He stared at me and I actually stopped.

He cleared his throat, "ok, now that Ethan finally figured it out"

Celeste interrupted him, "wait so you've never met your dad"

Percy answered, "once", and then bit his lip.

"I thought you said your dad got lost at sea", I caught him, I knew there was something creepy about him.

"when I was young... I think you should get your ears checked", he looked at me.

The answer seemed believable... but he hesitated. Hmm, I'd have to look into it. Percy was sketchy, someone like him shouldn't be allowed next to Annabeth.

Celeste glared at me. Just great! Now it was my fault. I didn't even do anything.

"ok, how bout a game... truth or dare", celeste grinned.
