Transporting realms

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma growing up in the EF, but being able to transport herself to our world with her magic. Every time she does, she returns home with a new piece of technology. Her parents gently tell her to put a stop to it, afraid something will go wrong.

"This is called a Gameboy." Emma explained to her younger siblings. They ooed and ahhed as Emma showed them the brightly coloured, handheld machine. She flicked the switch on the side and the games console was brought to life. Christopher, in particular, was impressed with Emma's latest find.

Emma had found a couple of years ago that her powers extended beyond what anyone could have imagined. Quite by accident, Emma discovered that she could transport over realms. Luckily, she also discovered that she could transport back. During her times in the land without magic, Emma had met a friend. A young boy by the name of Neal. He didn't seem fazed to hear that Emma was a princess from another realm. Emma had offered to take him over, if he wanted, but he refused. He said he was happy without magic.

Suddenly, Emma heard her bedroom door begin to open. She scrambled to hide the Gameboy under her seat, but in her haste she dropped it, and it clattered onto the floor. Emma looked up sheepishly at her parents. They were looking down at her, clearly annoyed.

"We wondered where you had all got to, and why you were all so quiet. I guess this explains why." Emma's siblings all stayed silent, feeling guilty. They all knew Emma wasn't meant to be going to the other realm anymore.

"Can you all please give us a moment with Emma, please?" Emma's siblings all scurried out. Emma smiled sheepishly up at her parents.

"No, Emma. There will be no charming your way out of this." Snow told her. Emma's smile faded off her face. "You know how we feel about you going across realms. What if something went wrong?"

"Nothing will go wrong. Neal looks after me." Emma promised them.

"It doesn't matter what Neal has promised, Emma. We have never met this boy. If anything he makes us feel more uncomfortable about the situation." Charming told her. He counted to ten to keep himself calm. "We have asked you numerous times to stop crossing realms with your magic. It's dangerous and we can't help you if something goes wrong. Please, Emma. Don't force our hand on this. Don't make us be more strict on this matter. Can we trust you to stop this?" Emma felt awful. She enjoyed her time in the land without magic, and her time with Neal. But she knew if she kept disobeying her parents on this the consequences would be severe. She nodded. Charming kissed the top of her head.

"It's for your own good, sweetheart." He promised her before he and Snow left Emma's room. Emma picked the Gameboy back up and looked down at it, crestfallen, before she added it to her collection. Never again would anything be added to it.
