Hello my wonderful readers. Today, we dive into the world of Identity V. What horrors await the characters? How will things go? Who will die and who
will live? Will the author just start the story normally? Without further ado, here we go!
It was a breezy October morning when Zac Flaine walked up to the manor. Looking at the address on the invitation to see if he was in the right place, he walked closer.
The mansion looked old and decrepit. Broken windows were scattered throughout parts of the manor. "Hello, anyone there?" Zac called out, hoping that someone would answer back. He heard nothing, so he walked closer and closer to the gate. Pushing past the gate he saw that the grass had become brown and withered. Any trees that were around had lost their leaves. The branches looked weak and frail. Zac reached out to touch one, but it instantly broke off. The sound of the falling branch caused a few birds to scatter. Being thoroughly creeped out, Zac sped over to the door. The door was huge, way bigger than Zac. While it looked old and as if it could fall apart at any time, it still held a menacing aura to it. It was almost as if it was telling him to go back. In all honesty, Zac had contemplated that. The only thing stopping him from leaving, was the chance to have what he desperately desired. What he needed to finally make the old man proud.
Steeling his nerves, he pushed the doors open. Inside, was a disturbingly dark entryway. Cobwebs and trash littered the surrounding area. Taking a gulp, Zac walked further into the manor. As soon as he was 3 steps into the foyer, the door behind him slammed shut. Zac ran back to the door, desperate to get it open. As much as he tried, the door wouldn't budge. He continued to work at the door until he heard something. Slowly turning around, Zac was expecting to see some hideous monster. Instead, all he saw was a little girl. A little girl covered in rags and looking dead inside. He instantly let go of the door and turned around to face her. The girl did not move. Zac walked over to the girl and kneeled down in front of her. "Hello, can you hear me? Are you alright?" The girl said nothing, only looking at him with cold dead eyes. As he stood up and turned around, he saw another little girl behind him. He stepped back in shock. He hadn't heard anything and this girl just appeared out of nowhere. As he looked at them, he noticed two things. First, he noticed both girls looked alike. Both had clammy skin and tattered dresses. A difference he did notice however, was that while the 1st girl's eyes looked dead, the second looked wide awake. Another thing that set them apart was that the second girl's eyes glowed red. As he noticed this, the girl started to rush toward him. Seeing this, Zac began to run. Hoping to find a way out. The last thing he remembered was something hitting his back and him falling into unconsciousness, watching as the 2 girls looked at him with those dead, blank stares.
"Zac, what did I tell you about mixing too fast? The frosting needs to be light and frothy, not heavy and nasty!" "I'm sorry ********, I'm trying my best. I'm just not as good as you." "No you're not, which is why you need to practice. As long as you keep trying and continue to keep practicing, I'm sure you'll be great at the baking business." "Gee, will I be as good as you?" "Nah" "AWWW" "I'm sure you'll be even better."
When Zac woke up, he noticed he was in a cell. He looked around, hoping to get some bearing as to where he was. " Ok, get it together Zac, Think think. What's the last thing you remember? Ummm…. Wait, what is the last thing I remember?" Try as he might, he couldn't recall anything. The only thing he knew was that his name was Zac and that he had worked somewhere. "What's happened to me? Even if I'm not sure who I am, I think I should know more than this." Looking around, he tried to find something that could tell him what happened or what he used to be. Looking next to him, he found a bag. Taking a peek inside, he found a bunch of cooking supplies, as well as ingredients for what seemed like could be used to make some baked goods. " Is… is this mine? "These look like items for cooking. If these are mine, then..." As he thought this, his mind began to ache. In that minute, he had what could be considered a vision or some kind of memory.
A boy was being carried by an old man. The boy was sleeping as the man seemed to look down on him. Zac couldn't make out his face, so he couldn't tell what the man looked like. All he could do was hear what the man had to say. " Don't worry kid, I'll make sure you have a better life. I may just be a baker, but I'll show you a baker's life ain't all that bad."
After a few minutes, Zac's head stopped throbbing. Now able to think clearly, he thought back on what had just happened. "Wow, what was that? Was that a memory? If that was a memory, then the old guy must have been some caretaker for that kid. Wait, what if that kid…. was me?" Deciding to shelve this for later, Zac decided to try to find a way out of his cell. As he attempted to stand up, Zac immediately fell over. Looking over to see what caused him to fall, he almost screamed. His left leg, up to the knee, was gone. "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh! My leg, my leg is gone! What happened, who did this, when did this! - ``''Will you cease this noise?!" Stopping from his screaming, Zac looked up to see who spoke. Instead of seeing a person or someone, what he saw was a robot. A robot which looked similar to a penguin.
Zac paused for a second then asked " Did you just speak to me? You can talk?" "Yes, I can talk. With what limited vocabulary I was gifted. Your noises have disturbed the others and they have sent me to make sure it doesn't happen again." " Never mind that. What did you do to my memories? What happened to my leg? Why am I in a cell? I couldn't care less if I'm disturbing someone else, I want answers!" Zac shouted. While not being able to stand, he just sat on the floor with his arms folded. The robot watched him with no emotions shown. Then, as if the robot was able to huff, it threw something towards Zac. Zac flinched, expecting some form of attack. Instead, after opening his eyes, he noticed a cane next to him. Grabbing it, he used it to push himself upwards. After he got up, he looked at the robot who seemed to have not changed. Sensing as though his outburst wouldn't get him anywhere, Zac decided to go for a gentler approach. "Please, can you tell me anything? I really need to know. My memories are lost." The robot stopped to look at Zac and finally spoke. " I cannot disclose all of the information you require. I can, however, tell you a few things. To begin with, when you were brought here, your leg was already missing. The people here did not harm you in any way besides bringing you to this cell. Secondly…" As if it were possible, the robot seemed to hesitate. It then looked at Zac and said something which shocked him for a while. "... you did not lose your memories. They are simply …" "Bon Bon!" The robot turned to look at the voice that sounded. Zac looked the same way as well and saw an old man. The man seemed to wear an apron with no shirt as well as torn pants. Zac also noticed that both one arm and one leg of the man were both mechanical. Zac tried to look away but for some reason couldn't. " Why are you talking to this kid? I don't know what you said to him, but I'll make sure you don't spill any secrets you're not supposed to. Maybe it's about time for an update." The robot, whose name was apparently Bon Bon, began to walk away. As if what the old man had said hadn't phased him at all. The old man growled and glared at Zac. " I don't know or care what it said to you. All you need to know is that you're here to stay. At least until Miss Nightingale is ready for you. So you might want to get real comfortable, kid." As the man was about to walk away, he looked down to see Zac's missing appendage. "He looked up to Zac's face and sneered before he continued out. Zac finally collapsed onto the ground and moved to the back wall. He huddled himself in and just sat there. As he began to slip into sleep, he had one last thought: "What in the world have I gotten myself into?"
The end of Chapter one
Man, what kind of mess has Zac gotten himself into? What's going to happen to him? What did Bon Bon mean when he said his memories weren't lost? Most importantly…. Why do we always end on a cliffhanger? More on that next time.
As I'm sure many figured out, Zac's profession has to do with food. The reason as to why I have said nothing about his past or his traits is because I feel like there's a better way to introduce his play style to the story. All of this will be revealed in later editions of the text. Welp until next time TTFN: Ta Ta For Now
