Tsukki pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and sighed. At the rate he was going, he was going to be late for volleyball practice, but he just couldn't bring himself to move from his chair. He laid his head down on the table and sighed even harder, "mendokusai~"

"Um excuse me, but are you finished with that book?" Tsukki looked up at a girl with long black hair, she kind of reminded him of Kiyoko-senpai. She just smiled at him and waited, " don't be a book hog," she teased.

Tsukki stood up and handed her the book, " I've got practice anyways." Tsukki started to walk away but thought twice about it, "give it to me tomorrow, I need it too." Then he turned and went to practice.

Kairi sighed as she watched Tsukishima walk away, frustrated she grumbled "damn it, now I have to finish with this book tonight." I'll never get through it in time... she thought but sat down anyways to start making her notes.

...

Yuriko let out a breath she hasn't know she'd been holding. The gym her basketball team used had a burst pipe and Takeda-sensei had agreed to share the boys volleyball space with the girls basketball team. There weren't very many girls on the team and as long as they had some room to practice they'd be ok but she knew that the boys were very dedicated to their sport and it might be hard to get them on board. 'Maybe she should see if they could make a schedule work?' she wondered. She knew the girls would try to make anything work, they were such good kids. She steeled her back to give her strength to face the fire.

Ukai head was racing, not good "Takeda-sensei I really don't know if this is going to work," he told the teacher. As they were talking in walked Yuriko Hashimoto, she was tall and elegant, long brown hair with a steak of blue underneath. She was wearing her pants suit and black heels still, and Ukai gulped. She was exactly the same as she was in high school, fierce.

"Ah, Yuriko-sensei. Let's try to make this work, deshou~?"

She narrowed her eyes at him, just the same as ever, she thought. Overly friendly but difficult, stubborn man. She hadn't been impressed by him in high school and her opinion was much of the same now. Goddamn him for still looking good. "Of course Keishin, I'm hoping they'll be able to fix the burst soon," she said cooling, using his first name on purpose to hopefully give her the upper hand. "I'm sure your boys know that everyone is taking their sports seriously right now and that every student deserves a chance to practice in a gym. No matter if they win or lose in tournaments." She said a bit louder so that the boys already in the gym could overhear. Best put her cards in asap, her girls were counting on her, she was the only one continuously supporting them after all.

Ukai smiled at Yuriko, he couldn't help it, she had always been passionate about helping people and fighting for the little guy. Still grinning he said, "Yachi-san, can your please put a straight line of tape in between this wall and the net, that'll be our net for today." He said giving in to his childhood crush, she always got her way anyways.

"After practice today we'll get our captains to set up scheduled times, it shouldn't put either team out too much that way. Having full use of the court is important for both Volleyball and basketball." Yuriko added on, " I'm going to go get the girls, they're probably still confused. You fill your boys in." Ukai realized how much she'd grown up, she might still always get her way but she was not willing to work through her problems. He smiled at her retreating back.

...

Rin took the girls for a warm up run around the block, she knew how frustrated her team was about having to share a gym with the boys volleyball team. Yuriko-sensei was obviously trying hard to make the best of the situation and Rin knew that she shouldn't complain. She'd do her best to make a good practice schedule for the girls, she remembered when she'd been chosen as captain this year. It had really shocked her but everyone was looking up to her and so she'd do her best.

Mina had a hard time breathing, the warm up run only made her panic more. She'd be sharing a gym with her classmate Suga. She'd head a crush on him for what felt like forever, in fact he was the reason she got so good at basketball, indirectly at least. She admired how hard he worked and his consistency, plus she tried her best to avoid him at all costs. She had confessed to him in first year and he turned her down, she put everything she had into sports after that hoping it keep her mind off of him. But here she was... panicking already.

...

Daichi watched as the girls basketball team trickled in, obviously having come from a run. He walked towards them and showed them their side for day. Introducing himself as the captain he said, " tell your captain to meet me after practice and we'll come up with a schedule that works for both of us this week." A strong looking girl with blond hair in bun walked up to him and shook his hand.

He could feel her fingers tremble slightly while she introduced herself, " I'm Rin, captain of the girls basketball team. I'll meet you later," she pulled away and bowed gently, "thank you for sharing with us today."

Daichi wasn't quite sure what to make of this interaction and shrugged it off, he could only deal with one problem at a time and right now Tsukishima being late was that problem.

Suga worried a bit over today's practice maybe they should end it a bit earlier than normal so they could figure out something that would better for both teams. The smaller space was bound to annoy the rest of the boys, he jogged to get a lost volleyball as the girls walked in. Daichi started talking to who he assumed was the girls captain, she was really pretty, Suga knew that wouldn't stop Daichi from being polite and doing his best for the team though. No distractions, from their honourable captain, even if the rest of the team... were starting at the girls as they walked in. Suga picked up his volleyball and through it at Noya's head, " hey focus."

Tsuki smirked, this week might be a bit more fun than usual.

Mina decided that at all costs she would not look at the boys, she would be cool and calm and most importantly coordinated during their time sharing the gym. Rin ran them all hard, making everyone do layups until everyone scored 5 baskets each but Mina really respected Rin. Rin would never make the team do anything that she wouldn't do herself and she was honest, Mina had hoped that she would be captain since this was her last year but was glad to lose to Rin. Rin as captain suffered more than anyone else on team and honestly Mina wasn't sure if she could be that selfless. After practice Rin asked for a couple of girls to volunteer and stay to clean up while she made a schedule with the boys captain. Mina put her hand up, " I'm here for you captain."

Rin grinned, " thanks Mina, I appreciate it. Wish me strength girls. Fighting!" And ran to corner Daichi about the schedule. She walked up to him, " I'm ready when you are," she smiled at him. He was so attractive she thought, I can't let him get the best of me because I think he's hot. He smiled at her, "shall we go sit in the stands?"

"Mmmm do you mind if we sit outside actually? I could use a bit of fresh air, plus there's no nosy teammates trying to put their two cents in," she suggested. Hopefully the cooler Night air would help her cool down.

Daichi eyed her appreciatively, although a little hesitantly, he wasn't sure if his team could stay away from the girls and he'd prefer to supervise but he saw Ukai talking to Yuriko-sensei and watched as Suga and Ennoshita were cleaning up, they should be fine... he hoped.

Suga had watched a bit of the girls practice and was impressed with what they could do in their side of the gym. It was obvious to him that both teams felt clipped tonight. He was picking up lose vollyballs when he backed into one of the girls. "Oh, I'm sorry. I should've paid better attention."

She looked at him startled, and then she glowered at him, " it's fine. Sorry." She ground out and walked away as he had a disease. Suga surprised, realized that it was Mina, the girl who had confessed to him in first year. They'd been in the same class in first year and she had told him she liked him. Suga's cheeks turned slightly pink at the memory, he'd turned her down because he wasn't really interested in dating at the time, he was so focused on making friends and volleyball. He knew she'd been sad about it but he hadn't given it much right because they'd been in different classes after that. But there she was smiling at her basketball team and cleaning up like she's didn't even know who he was.

...

Daichi was stressed, Rin was a fighter and it had taken all his strength to keep up with her. They ended up arguing for 2 hours over just this weeks schedule alone but he wasn't ready to give in either. The 3rd year girl she was so passionate and he couldn't help but think that they wanted the exact same things for their teams but they had to budge somewhere. Finally she relented a bit and so he would budge a bit and then she let go a bit and finally they came up with a fairly equal use of the space and time in a reasonable way. The girls had come out on top with getting the gym all of Saturday because the boys had a practice match at another school. And so Rin had given them extra freedom on the Friday and Thursday. Hopefully the rest of the volleyball team could deal with it.

...

Rin was alone, it was extremely late and because she didn't know how long it was going to be she told everyone to go home in a group chat and said she update the schedule after it was made. She quickly put her day uniform on and left, she was just out the gate when she turned and bumped into Daichi. " ah Sorry Sawamura-san."

" It's not a problem," Daichi smiled. They both took steps in the same direction, "ah," they blinked at each other briefly. Daichi recovered first, "do you go this way too?" He asked while Rin walked beside him.

"For now yes, I'm heading to the bath house tonight," she said. She was really nice when she wasn't fighting him about the gym schedule for her team.

"Of course, I'll walk with you for a bit then," Daichi was headed in that direction. He actually lived very close to the bath house, it'd be awkward if he didn't walk with her for a bit.

"You really don't have to," she said quickly, "I'm fine walking without you, so hopefully you can have a goodnight!" She smiled and ran ahead, Daichi watched her jog in her uniform, for a few blocks ahead but the night was clear and he saw her slow down much farther ahead and then she continued to walk.

...

Mina worked cleaning and tidying for her parents until Rin showed up at the bath house. Mina's family owned the bathhouse and so she 'd made plans to meet up with Rin for a bath after the day. Mina was restless to figure out the schedule, honestly she's been even more stressed after bumping into Suga. She wasn't sure she could be in the same room for long, it'd taken all her strength to pretend the boys hadn't existed and she just wanted to avoid them and prepare herself mentally for the upcoming week. She was greeting people at the door and bowing in her work kimono when in walked Suga and his father. Just her luck.

Suga was surprised to see Mina bowing at him, did she work at the bathhouse? "Ah, sorry I didn't know you worked here," he said nonchalantly.

Mina was startled he could tell but she brushed him off completely and said, "please enjoy your bath and ask the staff if you have any questions." Then she immediately turned to the next customers to walk in and he guessed they must've been regulars because suddenly she was hugging them and asking about a trip being very friendly.

"Come on kiddo," his dad pulled him towards the men's. Maybe Mina didn't like him? She was so cold when she used to be so friendly, was it because of the rejection 2 years earlier? Or maybe she'd forgotten him completely? It had been a long time, Suga sighed and decided to just enjoy his bath. Practice has been pretty rough today.

...

Ukai stood outside his family's convenience store taking a long drag of a cigarette. "Some athlete you are, you know smoking is horrible for you," Yuriko snarled a bit. "Sorry, I'm grumpy and hungry, and shouldn't take it out on you."

She walked into the store, Ukai let breath out, suddenly he didn't feel like smoking. He followed behind and said, "how do you think the kids made out with the schedule?"

"I'm sure both of them did their best, it's good for them to learn early how to talk things through."

"I agree, misunderstandings just grow and grow until they're impossible to deal with when you're that young." Both teacher and coach understanding the hidden meaning behind their own words but too stubborn to admit to their high school failings. Ukai had never had the chance to confess his feelings to Yuriko, he'd planned on doing it at graduation but she'd moved for school and he'd lost his chance. They'd both been in love with each other but Ukai had flirted with quite a few girls and Yuriko had never been able to tell what Ukai thought about her. Now that she was back at Karasuno to teach she wasn't even sure she cared. She just wanted some supper, beer then a bath and bed.

Ukai rang up her instant noodles, and snacks, "this isn't sustenance," he smirked, "what kind of athlete are you?" He couldn't help but bait her, it had come to him so naturally over the years. It was also his best defense against the way she made his heart pound even now.

Her eyes finds his, "a tired one," she joked, "I don't have time to make suppers."

Ukai paused hesitantly, "want to grab some ramen from around the corner?"
