Not their Emma
THUNDER BRAT asked for a oneshot of *season 6 mid-season finale spoilers!* Regina wishing that Emma be brought back from the Wish Realm, rather than wishing to go there to get her. The Wish Realm Emma is the one brought back to Storybrooke. Snowing have to convince her she belongs there.
Good news, everyone! I passed my dissertation! :D :D :D
I want to thank people for their encouragement to keep writing, and their praise for Our Charming family. You really have no idea how much it means to me. All that I ask now is that you please keep the requests coming in then, as without them, this story won't last. I know I'm picky with them sometimes, but I honestly do that because I care. I don't want people feeling like they're reading the same story twice :).
Charming jumped when a cloud of purple smoke appeared in the middle of the living room. When he saw that it was Regina and not her evil counterpart, he relaxed. He then rejoiced when he saw that Emma was with her. Emma's eyes widened at the sight of him. She wrenched her arm free of Regina's.
"Daddy!" She called out. She ran into his arms, sobbing. Shocked, Charming held her, cradling the back of her head. He looked silently at Regina, pleading for answers.
"Daddy, you have to stop her." Emma said in a panic. She pulled out of her dad's arms and hid behind him. Charming just didn't understand. This wasn't like Emma at all. Who could make her so frightened that shed cower behind him rather than facing them herself?
"This isn't the Emma you know." Regina explained. "When the Evil Queen wished for Emma's wish to come true, she had Emma taken to a world where she was raised by you in such a way that would make her weak if she ever came back. It's not real, and somewhere deep down, I think Emma knows that. But it's going to take some real convincing otherwise." Regina could see how frightened Emma was of her like this. It made her sad, knowing how far they'd come. She hated it when anybody still saw her as the Evil Queen. She sighed.
"It's going to be best for Emma if I leave now. She's in capable hands." Regina knew there might be a problem though. "Charming…I know this is what you have both dreamt off. But remember, this isn't your Emma. Not really. It's best for her if she snaps out of this. Don't get too caught up in her dream, and don't let Snow either." With that, Regina vanished again. Charming turned his attention back to Emma. She just seemed so scared.
"Where are we, daddy?" Emma asked him quietly. "Why are you dressed in such strange clothing? Where's mommy?" Charming smiled reassuringly. He manoeuvred Emma over to the couch and had her sit down.
"We're in…a different land." Charming explained to her gently. "One without magic. Well, mostly. Magic works in this…village." Emma seemed to be understanding what he was telling her, if a little overwhelmed. "These are the clothes people wear here."
"Like Aladdin and Jasmine's people do in Agrabah? Or how people in Arendelle wear clothes with lots of fur?" Charming smiled and nodded. "We'll get you some." Charming looked towards his and Snow's room. "As for where your mother is." He sighed. He didn't think explaining this new sleeping curse would help Emma's fear for Regina. He also didn't think she should see Neal until she was herself again. "Want me to go get her?" Emma nodded. Charming made his way through to the bedroom. He scribbled Snow a quick note to explain what was happening before he woke her up. Snow woke up, read Charming's note and went through. He had been right, this Emma wasn't their Emma. She was sweet, she liked hugs and she needed her. But the real Emma needed her too. As much as Snow and Charming both wished Emma would have been somewhat like this, but she wasn't. They both wanted their girl back.
