Needing their comfort
A guest asked for a oneshot of (woh there! One at a time! :P I selected one by combining your last 2 requests.) *season 6 spoilers!* after Emma's secret is exposed, Emma's family want to be close to her. Snow needs to hold her little girl in her arms. Along with this, Emma's visions are becoming more frequent. She remembers that her mom said when she's scared she should talk to her. Emma is, indeed, scared.
Finding out that your child has a death sentence hanging above them is a scary thing for any parent. For Snow and Charming, it was even worse. This would not be the first time they would lose their daughter. It would, however, be the last and most finite. They refused to let it happen. They would not allow Emma to be taken from them. Not by the Evil Queen, or by some person under a hood.
It was therefore following natural instinct that led Snow to keep Emma as close to her as humanly possible for as long as possible. She knew Emma was an adult, and too old to be held like Neal. But that didn't stop Snow from doing her best to keep her close. This closeness to both her parents brought Emma great comfort. Especially as the visions got worse. Both Snow and Charming had noticed Emma begin to distance herself off again. They knew it was probably related to her visions, so they did their best to get her to open up. The newfound closeness meant it didn't take as long as either parent had dreaded it would.
"The visions." Emma suddenly blurted out in front of them both one evening. "Their getting worse." Snow and Charming looked at her, both confused at the random outburst and concerned. Emma looked directly at her mom. "You said if I was scared I should talk to you." Snow sat up straighter at this, letting Emma know she had her, and her father's, full attention.
"You should." Snow told her. She knew this was a big step for Emma, coming to her when she was scared. It was something Snow had wanted since the curse was broken and she and Emma knew they were mother and daughter. Heck, even as Mary Margaret she had wanted Emma to open up more. Emma nodded, taking a deep breath.
"I don't know what it means." Emma croaked. "They're getting more frequent and longer. What if that means the time is drawing closer? I don't actually know when it'll happen. I'm not even nearly ready. There's so much I still have to do. So much I still have to say. Henry, I still need to make sure he's ready…" Emma couldn't say anymore after that. Her breathing became erratic and she started to cry. Snow couldn't fully contain her maternal instincts anymore. She moved over to beside Emma on the couch and pulled her into her arms.
"Breath." Snow told her, rubbing her back. "Just breath, Em." Emma tried to follow her mother's instructions as her dad came over and also began rubbing circles on her back. Eventually, Emma's breathing was back to a normal rhythm. She leaned her head against her mother's shoulder, enjoying the comfort. She had needed this since she knew her fate was sealed. She just hadn't known how to ask for it. Now that she had it, Emma's hope was beginning to return. Maybe, she just might beat this.
