Once Kevin had closed the doors of the library behind him. He dashed down the hallway to the kitchen with inhuman speed, arriving at the kitchen in record time. Once he arrived at the kitchen, knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds before a thin and stringy voice answered him back.
"Come in!" The voice called. Kevin pried open the door to reveal a gigantic and pristine kitchen. Standing in the kitchen, diligently preparing the meals stood the chef of the household. A middle-aged man with graying, black hair with a slight pot-belly, in a chef's attire.
Once the chef had heard the door closed behind him, he turned to face the butler.
"Ah, Thomas! It's nice to see you, did the young master request anything?" The older man asked warmly, a gentle smile gracing his worn features.
"No Izumi, it was actually the young mistress that requested something. She wishes to have some tea, most likely chai." Kevin pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"Ah, it's quite obvious with the young lady. She's always predictable and likeable, unlike the marchioness. She's a volatile one, I'm telling you. You honestly don't know if she changes her mind or not, yeesh." Izumi shuddered as he thought about the marchioness and her volatile mood swings.
"Ahem, if you could skip the pleasantries. I suggest you continue with making the mistress' tea. It would be helpful to not keep her waiting." Kevin chimed in icily.
"Oh right, sorry about that. It will be ready in a few minutes." The older man said, scratching the back of his neck.
"I see, I will be waiting outside." He turned around and exited the kitchen without uttering another word.
~A few minutes later~
"It's ready." Izumi's said from inside the kitchen, muffled by the thick cherry wood door.
Kevin calmly walked into the kitchen and wordlessly took the tray from Izumi's hand. Exiting the kitchen and closing the door behind him with an audible
'click', he began his long trek back to the library.
~Two minutes later~
A couple of minutes into Kevin's trek back to the library, he began to feel a burning pain from his chest. Biting his tongue, he ignored it. It eventually went away after a few seconds.
'It was most likely just the pain that comes with having the Thorns of Death, nothing remarkable'. He dismissed, the pain still searing as the thorns began to coil closer to his heart.
~In the library~
Eventually arriving at the library, Kevin places his hand on the ornate lion head door knob. As he was about to turn the doorknob to head into the library, he felt a burning sensation all over his body and began to slip in and out of consciousness. He dropped the tray and tea set in the process. That was the last thing Kevin heard before drifting off into total darkness.
