The overwhelming smell of medicine dilled Kevin's nostrils as he groaned in pain. Upon opening his eyes, the bespectacled man discovered that he is stuck in a rather odd looking room. It is a hospital room. However, it appears to have been abandoned for decades. He is now lying on the cold and dirty floor. Kevin took deep breaths and steeled his resolve, he carefully looked around and observed the room.
'I need to try and figure out how I ended up here.' Kevin calmly thought to himself. He stood up dusting his black tail coat.
'After all, this isn't the first time I've encountered strange situations such as this.' He thought, bemused by the irony of his strange circumstance.
Slowly getting up from the ground, Kevin cautiously opened the door and peeked around the dingy hallway for any signs of life. Once he deemed the hallway clear of any life, he walked outside the room, making sure mute his footsteps. The hallway was pitch black and he used the walls to feel his way around the darkness. As Kevin walked along the black corridors he felt a sticky and slimy substance on the wall.
'What is-' Before he could finish questioning the substance he felt, he heard the sound of footsteps at the end of the halls.
The footsteps sounded like heels, it continued to approach closer, and closer with every step. Kevin furiously attempted to wipe away any form of the substance staining his hands. He kept silent but made his way forward, albeit slowly. At this point, he was about ready to pull out the sharpened butter knives he hid in his tailcoat. The footsteps suddenly came to a halt.
"...What's this? My prey woke up before I came back?" Murmured the smooth voice of a man.
Before Kevin could throw his knives, he was harshly pinned to the wall. Two bright fuschia eyes stared down at him, taking in his vulnerability.
"I wonder… If I strike fear into the soul, would it spice up?" The man purred, he flicked Kevin's cheek. With every flick that came his way, the bespectacled flinched.
Having grown tired of the flicking, he sent a swift punch to his assailant's face, but the man dodged. Kevin tried to push him away but to no avail.
"Keep your filthy hands off me, you wretched piece of demon scum!" The reaper retorted venomously, his words cutting icily through the air.
Entertained, the man laughed at his reaction, the "demon" released Kevin from his grip. Suddenly, the dusty gas lamps lit up the hallways and the attacker was gone. That is when Kevin noticed the substance he touched earlier was a deep shade of crimson red. He wrinkled his face in absolute disgust, Kevin turned away from the bloodstained wall.
To his relief he saw the exit near the lobby. He swiftly made his way towards it, when he made his way to the doors, he found that it was tightly sealed shut. Seeing no alternative method to pry open the door, Kevin got into a fighting stance and kicked and slammed the knuckles of his fist against the door multiple times.
'I've made it clear that I'm getting out of this hospital, no matter what.' Kevin thought with determination.
However, as the door wouldn't budge the slightest from its hinges, the reaper opted to find another exit. He walked back and began the search for an alternative exit route. He inspected every room on the floor for a way, any way to escape this accursed building. Sadly, his efforts were in vain as he couldn't find any.
Not all hope was lost, as Kevin stumbled across a huge uninvestigated room with double doors. Seeing as the doors were open he decided to walk in. He instantly regretted ever deciding to walk into THAT room. Kevin walked in the room and was greeted by a horrific sight; three decomposing corpses - two men and one woman hung from the ceiling. All of them have meat hooks that appeared as though they were stolen from a butcher protruding from the back of their necks, propping them up like crude marionettes. A fourth hook lies on the table close to him. A chilling amused chuckle echoed around him.
"Oh, what an utterly revolting sight… Oh look, there's a space open for you too. Tell me, reaper, would you like to join them as well?" The voice inquired derisively.
Irritated by the "demon's" mockery, Kevin fell into his fighting stance once more and whirled around, keeping a sharp eye for any sign of movement or upcoming attacks from his captor.
"Where are you?" The reaper said callously, ice dripping from his every word.
Seeing as his captor would not reply, Kevin ran out of the room. He kept running through the dimly lit halls. The man's laughter echoed around him like a merry-go-round, he didn't see it anywhere, the exit -
little mattered how much he turned and how many hallways inspected.
Kevin abruptly heard a deranged tune start to play slowly in the background, echoing across the hospital like a concert hall. The tune bears a great resemblance to "London Bridge", the more he listened, the tune came ever-so closer to where he was.
Kevin looked up ahead and saw a flight of stairs leading down, a lift, and another hallway. There was also a door near the lift down another hallway. The tune is now coming from behind him, becoming louder the more he pondered his decisions. Kevin knew that he needed to choose a path to follow, and quickly.
Contemplating his choice for a brief moment, Kevin decided to take the flight of stairs. Because the route would have been much less susceptible to surprise attacks and possible malfunctions.
Gracefully jumping down each level of the stairs, it took him to another long hallway but this one felt off, Kevin immediately put his guard up. An organic smell engulfed the bespectacled man as he saw a sea of badly decomposed corpses lying haphazardly across the rotting tiled floor of the hallway.
'Is some sort of twisted joke?!' Their raw stench made Kevin gag, he clamped a gloved hand over his mouth to divert the putrid smell of decomposing flesh.
He most certainly didn't want to wade through the bodies, he faced the empty hallway looming behind him, turning back is not a good option either. He settled on not wading through the corpses, nor turning back.
Kevin decided to search for places to hide. To his luck, he found a gurney with the filling ripped out of it, now spilling onto the floor tipped on its side. Taking no chances he immediately hid behind it. As Kevin was about to calculate his next moves, he heard a strange noise above him.
'Crackle, crackle.'
Reacting swiftly, Thomas did a back handspring before a huge section of the roof above him caved in where he once hid, narrowly missing the rectangular glasses resting upon his face. Landing near the corpses, he watched as the roof hit the floor and made a gigantic gap in the ground.
'Considering I don't have much of a choice in this matter. My only options are to either climb the stairs to the roof or to jump down the gap.' After considering the pros and cons of each option carefully, Kevin had come to a final decision.
'Seeing as the danger is coming from above me, I should jump down. It would be incredibly foolish to go to the rooftop, straight to the demon.' Kevin thought sardonically.
As Kevin made his choice, the lights went out, one by one. It looked like something straight out of a rare, disturbing cinematic record as the windows shatter one after the other, sending shards of sharp glass flying everywhere. The window above Kevin shattered into pieces, he dodged most of the shards, unfortunately some of the glass shards sliced into his flesh, causing him to wince from the acute pain. Once again, the reaper was engulfed in absolute darkness.
"I am getting tired of playing this game, let's end this, shall we?" Kevin heard the sickening voice from behind him, he felt a cold hand violently grab his wrist.
Expecting something like this to happen, he boldly turns around to get a precise punch in. Only to have the assailant dodge his punch and pin him down to the dirty floor.
