House of Candidates:
The next morning the residents were preparing themselves to go to school. Fabian walked over to the club.
"I'm taking these to school with me. I know Joy said Victor was one of the good guys, But I still don't trust him," said Fabian, as he showed the puzzle pieces in his bag.
The club agreed with Fabian and headed to school.
When the Anubis residents arrived at school, Nina and Amber went to the girls' bathroom. Nina had to pee and Amber was busy making herself up. When Nina had finished peeing she walked out of the toilet cubicle to wash her hands and saw that Amber was talking to herself.
"You are a winner," said Amber, to herself.
"What are you doing?" Asked Nina, while she washed her hands.
"I give myself a pep talk because I've a meeting with Mr. Sweet," said Amber.
"What kind of meeting?" Asked Nina.
"For the school election. After the meeting, the two best candidates are selected to compete against each other to become school ambassador," explained Amber.
"I get it, said Nina.
"Nina can you give me those glasses lying over there," said Amber, as she pointed to the sink
"These glasses?" Asked Nina. "I didn't know you had glasses," she said.
"I don't have one, it's an old pair of glasses from my mother
Nina cleaned the glasses and put on. Nina immediately took the glasses off again, because the glasses had very strong sharpness.
"These glasses have really sharp lenses," said Nina.
"Yes, just give them to me," said Amber.
Nina gave the glasses the Amber. Amber put the glasses on and twirled around. Amber almost fell down because she couldn't keep her balance.
"What do you think?" Asked Amber.
"I do not know,' said Nina.
"Ouch," said Amber, as she bumped her had into the mirror. "What don't you know?" She asked.
"I think it's better, if you be yourself," said Nina.
"Yes, but a first impression is just really important," said Amber.
"Yeah, but I think you make a better first impression without all that fuss. Amber come on. Those glasses, you can't see through at all," said Nina
"Oh Nina, you just don't understand at all," said Amber.
"Then why did you ask me, what I think of it?" Asked Nina.
"It's showtime," said Amber, as she locked at her phone to see the time. "Wish me good luck," she said,
"Good luck," said Nina.
Amber wanted to walk out of the bathroom but she bumped into the door. Nina opened the door. Amber walked out of the bathroom and bumped into Aaron.
"Ouch my leg!" Shouted Aaron.
"Oh sorry Aaron," said Amber
"Amber watch out where you are going, my leg can almost get out of this brace and I want this thing off my leg as soon as possible," said Aaron.
"I get it. I already said sorry," said Amber.
Aaron looked up and saw that Amber was wearing their mother's glasses.
"Why are you wearing mum's old glasses?" Asked Aaron.
"Because I'm having a meeting with Mr. Sweet for the school election," said Amber.
"Shouldn't you go as yourself?" Asked Aaron.
Amber didn't answer Aaron's question and walked away. Nina stood next to Aaron and together they watched Amber walk away and bump into almost everything and everyone.
"Nina can I, ask you something?" Asked Aaron.
"That I make sure Amber doesn't bump into anyone or something," said Nina.
"Yeah, and she that she doesn't hurt herself or anyone else," said Aaron.
"Yes, I will take care of it," said Nina.
Nina ran after Amber and escorted her to Mr. Sweet's office. Mara and a few other students were sitting outside Mr. Sweet's office. Amber walked up and ran into a locker. Amber wanted to sit, but she almost missed the chair, luckily Nina was able to get her in the direction of the chair just in time. A while later, Mara was the first to be called into the office. In the office, of course, sat Mr. Sweet and next to him Mrs. Andrews.
"I think it is important to get as many good nutrients as possible for healthy growth. That is why I would like to place a salad bar in the canteen. What I would also like to add is that we choose a different charity every month, to strengthen the general awareness of students," said Mara.
Mr. Sweet and Mrs. Andrews looked enthusiastic and impressed with Mara's ideas. After Mara there were 3 other candidates with Mr. Sweet to share their ideas. After talking with the other 3 candidates, it was Amber's turn. Amber walked over to Mr. Sweet's office and bumped into the wall. Finally Amber entered Mr. Sweet's office.
"Okay so my ideas for making this school even better," said Amber, not knowing she was facing the wrong direction.
"Amber we're sitting over here," said Mrs. Andrews.
"Oh yeah," said Amber, as she turned in the direction of Mr. Sweet and Mrs. Andrews.
"Continue Amber," said Mr. Sweet.
"What I think this school need is more spirit. I think we have pep rallies and spirit week, like they have in American schools, to show how proud we're of our school. And we need to have a big end of the school year prom," said Amber.
Mrs. Andrews looked a bit skeptical, but Mr. Sweet seemed interested in Amber's ideas.
After the meeting, Jerome and Mara were playing chess in the drama room. Mara was amazed at how well Jerome could play chess.
"Okay you're way too good at this," said Mara.
"I used to play chess a lot with my grandfather," said Jerome.
"Do you still talk with your grandfather?" Asked Mara.
"He passed away a few years ago. He was the only one in the family who seemed to like me and care for me," said Jerome.
"And what about your mother?" Asked Mara.
"I told you that, she and my stepfather wanted to get rid of me, so she dumped me at the first best boarding school they could find," said Jerome,
"Yes, you told me that. But I mean did you say them during the holidays?" Asked Mara.
"Only during the Summer vacation and even then she don't want to know about me," said Jerome.
"How can a mother do such a thing. My mother just wants to do things with me and wants to know everything about my school year. It almost drives me crazy," said Mara.
"Then you are lucky, to have a mother like that," said Jerome.
"And what about your grandfather?" Asked Mara.
"When my grandfather was alive I stayed with him every Summer vacation. And those were the best vacations I ever had," said Jerome.
Mara was moved by Jerome's stories and felt a little sorry for him. Jerome noticed this and wanted to change the subject as soon as possible.
"So and how do you think your meeting with Mr. Sweet went?" Asked Jerome.
"I think it went well. Now let's just hope that I get selected," said Mara.
"I'm sure you will be selected," said Jerome.
"Maybe not," said Mara.
"No buts. You Mara Jaffray, will become one of those two selected candidates and the school ambassador," said Jerome.
"But there were also other candidates. Maybe they managed to convince Mr. Sweet that they are the right person for the job," said Mara.
"I'm sure that they didn't," said Jerome.
"How can you be sure. You don't know it for sure," said Mara.
"Yes I know. I mean look who the other candidates were, Amelia Pinches, Stewart Quintin and Bethany Morgan. Those three are complete losers," said Jerome
"But you're forgetting Amber, the most popular girl in the school. If she's selected, I can completely forget winning this thing," said Mara.
"Mara I've said this before. Amber has no chance against you. Do you really think Mr. Sweet wants to have Amber 'beauty case' Millington to be the one, who represent our school," said Jerome
"You know what? You're right. I think I'm really the best candidate," said Mara.
Mara was glad Jerome gave her a pep talk. At the same moment Alfie walked in with his skateboard.
"Halfpipe here we come. Check the new deck bro," said Alfie.
"No thanks," said Jerome
"Are you sure? You, me and Otis. Skatepark knee peds, injuries. It's going to be awesome," said Alfie.
"I'm busy Alfie," said Jerome.
"Oh yeah. Then I go see if someone else wants to go," said Alfie, feeling let down.
Alfie left the drama room disappointed. Alfie texted Otis, to see if he wanted to go to the skatepark with him, but Otis said he was to busy. Alfie was disappointed again, but then he saw the club and walked over to them.
'Hey guys, do any of you want to skateboarding with me?" Asked Alfie
"Sorry Alfie no time," said Patricia.
"I've still got an injured leg," said Aaron.
'I can't skateboard," said Nina.
'Why don't you ask Jerome or Otis?" Asked Fabian.
"Jerome is playing chess with Mara and Otis and Amber are making Amber's poster," said Alfie
"And what about Fiona and Caitlin?" Asked Nina.
"They are helping Caitlin's father in the garden," said Alfie.
A few hours later and most of the students headed for the drama room for the results. Fabian put his bag on top of the locker and without knowing on of the puzzle pieces fell out. Once most of the students were in the drama room, Mrs. Andrews was standing on the stage trying to get the students attention. After a few seconds it was quiet and Mrs. Andrews began to talk.
"Let me first say that I am impressed with your efforts. But unfortunately only two can make it through the selection. And now Mr. Sweet will announce the first candidate," said Mrs. Andrews.
"Our first candidate impressed us with her ideas about making the school healthier and her idea of doing more for the world. Our first candidate is Mara Jaffray," said Mr. Sweet.
"Way to go Mara," said Fiona.
"I told you so," said Jerome.
Mara walked forward and shook hands with Mr. Sweet and Mrs. Andrews.
Congratulations Mara, Mr. Sweet.
"Thank you sir, "said Mara
"And our second candidate, it was her good ideas to give our school more pep and spirit. Ladies and gentlemen our second candidate, Amber Millington," said Mr. Sweet.
"Let's go sis", said Aaron.
"Nice job Amber," said Nina.
Amber walked forward and shook hands with Mr. Sweet and Mrs. Andrews.
"Congratulations Amber," said Mr. Sweet.
"Thank you sooo much sir," said Amber.
"I also want to thank the rest of the candidates for their efforts and maybe next year is your chance," said Mr. Sweet.
Amelia ran out of the room crying because she wasn't chosen.
"And what is going to happen now sir?" Asked Mara.
"You will be given a number of assignments and of course you will have to campaign. I suggest you hire a coach to guide you," said Mr. Sweet.
At that very same moment, Mr. Winkler walked in the drama room.
"I want Mr. Winkler," said Amber.
"Mr. Winkler would you mind being the coach Amber on her campaign?" Asked Mr. Sweet
"No problem. I'm going to coach you Amber," said Mr Winkler.
"Okay then Amber Millington gets guidance from Mr. Winkler," said Mr. Sweet.
Amber gave Mr. Winkler two thumbs up.
"Mara I want to let you know that I'm also can be a coach," said Mr. Sweet.
"Okay. Why not," said Mara.
Amber laughed and looked at Mister Sweet, who didn't think it was funny, and glared at her. Amber stopped laughing.
"The two of you will hear as soon as possible what the first assignment is and may the best one win," said Mr. Sweet.
"Well that seems obvious to me," said Amber.
After the results, Otis and Alfie walked down the hallway together and were on their way home.
"Luckily I didn't make that poster for nothing," said Otis.
"Yes really. I think you worked on it for a long time," said Alfie
"Yes, super long days and a lot of hours," said Otis.
Then Alfie noticed his shoelace was loose.
"Otis my shoe lace is loose, you go home al ready," said Alfie
"Okay then I'll see you at home mate," said Otis.
Alfie started to tie his lace and out of the corner of his eye he saw something strange lying on the floor. Not knowing it was a puzzle piece, Alfie picked it up.
"Weird," said Alfie
Alfie put the puzzle piece in his bag and went home.
Serval hours later and it was bedtime. Fabian was in his room and wanted to study the puzzle pieces. Fabian picked up his bag and looked for the puzzle pieces, but he could only find one.
"No, no, no, no, no, no. Where's the other one?" Said Fabian.
Fabian emptied his bag and looked for the puzzle piece, but couldn't find it. Fabian didn't know how to explain this to the club.
It's was midnight already. Nina was a sleep, when she suddenly woke up. When she woke up she saw Sarah standing at the end of her bed.
"Sarah? What are you doing here?" Asked Nina.
"You're not giving up on me, are you, Nina?" Asked Sarah
"No! Never!" Said Nina.
"Good, Because it's just beginning," said Sarah.
"What is?" Asked Nina.
"11, 01, 01, 1,9,1,5," said Sarah
"Sorry. What does that mean?" Asked Nina.
"11, 01, 01, 1,9,1,5," repeated Sarah.
Suddenly Nina woke up again. Not knowing what happened was real or a dream. Nina was also confused about what the numbers meant.
