House of Birth Certificates:
The next morning were have breakfast, during breakfast Nina was quiet and didn't say a word. Nina could stop thinking about Sarah.
"I need flyers for my theme day," said Mara.
"Yes, me too," said Amber
"Otis would you like to make a flyer for me?" Asked Mara and Amber at the same time
"Um, sure I make flyers for both of you," said Otis.
"Isn't that too much work for you?" Asked Fiona.
"No, it gives me an excuse not to do my homework," said Otis
"Otis, I really don't want you to take too much on your plate," said Mara
"No problem Mara, I'll do it. What are your ideas for your flyers?" Asked Otis.
"Well I want something that says India, so Bollywood, spirituality and temples, stuff like that," said Mara
"Okay noted. And what do you want Amber?" Asked Otis.
Amber had no idea what she wanted to do with her theme day. But she didn't want Mara to know she had nothing for her theme day yet.
"As if I'm going to say that right here at the table while my competition is here. I'll be in touch with you," said Amber
"Okay. Then I'll start with your flyer first Mara," said Otis.
"Thank you Otis," said Mara.
A few seconds later and Trudy walked into the living room and she went up to Nina.
"Nina, sweetie, could you come with me, please?" Asked Trudy.
Nina stood up and followed Trudy to the hallway. The other club members looked at each other and from the way Trudy spoke they knew that it probably wasn't going to be good news.
"There's some bad news, I'm afraid. The old people's home just called," said Trudy
"Sarah is dead," said Nina.
"Sarah? It's Emily. So sad," said Trudy.
Nina started to break down into tears and hugged Trudy. After a short while Nina let go off Trudy. Trudy whipped away Nina's tears.
"Now, Mrs. mulligan wants to see you," said Trudy.
"Me?" Asked Nina
"Yeah there's something that Emily wanted you to have," said Trudy.
After breakfast, the club, minus Nina, went to school. As they walked to school, they were talking about Nina.
"Where do you think Nina went off to? Asked Alfie.
"No idea, said Patricia
"What did Trudy told her?" Asked Alfie.
"No idea, but it must be very important or otherwise she would be here," said Aaron.
"I thought she was quiet and absent minded during breakfast," said Fabian.
"But she was just sitting at the table with us? How can she be absent? "Asked Amber.
"I think Fabian means Nina was there in person, but not with her thoughts," said Patricia.
"Oh in kinda absent that way," said Amber.
"Didn't you notice anything last night or this morning when you got up?" Asked Aaron.
"No, I should have, it's my job as her best friend to notice such things," said Amber.
"We'll hear about it when she's late at school or when we see her at home," said Fabian.
The club thought Fabian would be right. The club entered the school building.
Trudy had called Mr. Sweet and he gave Nina permission to go to the old people's home and if she was up to it come back to school later. So while the rest of the Anubis residents were in school, Nina went to the old people's home and met up with the nurse that took care of Sarah. Nina and the nurse went to Sarah's room. Sarah's room was already emptied out, but a few of her belongings were on her now empty bed.
"The funeral is tomorrow. It's all been taken care of by her nephew. You're welcome to attend," said the nurse
"Nephew? I didn't know she had any relatives, said Nina.
"Oh, just the one. Don't see much of him. I think she saw you as the granddaughter she never had," said the nurse.
"And she was like a second grandmother too me," said Nina
"Now, Emily asked me to give you this. It was when we got back from Anubis house. She was so much calmer after the visit. Contented almost. She told me you'd know what to do with it. And that it was your turn now, whatever that means," said the nurse
"Yeah. She said something similar to me," said Nina.
Back at the school, Mara, Fiona and Caitlin were at their lockers grabbing some books.
"Hey Mara do you want to do for your theme day?" Asked Caitlin.
"I don't know," said Mara.
"Well I might have an idea," said Fiona
"What is it?" Asked Mara.
"Someone from my yoga class is an expert in the Indian dance style. Maybe she can give you some lessons," suggested Fiona.
"Like belly dancing," said Caitlin
"Yes and other Indian dance styles, what do you think about that?" Asked Fiona.
"Well it would fit my Bollywood theme perfectly," said Mara. "So you can ask her to give me some dance lessons?" She asked.
"I'll call her during the lunch," said Fiona.
"But can you do one more thing for me?" Asked Mara.
"What would you like me to do?" Asked Fiona.
"Well if I go dancing, then maybe you can do something with spirituality for my theme day?" Asked Mara.
"Like what?" Asked Fiona.
"I don't know. Like reading people's aura's, or doing something with your tarot cards or as a fortune teller?" Suggested Mara.
"Yes, I can probably do something with that," said Fiona
"Fiona the fortune teller. Can you make a prediction now?" Asked Caitlin.
"Yeah if we don't hurry we'll be late for the next lesson," joked Fiona.
Mara and Caitlin laughed at Fiona's joke and went to class. Mara, Caitlin, and Fiona entered the classroom. Mara sat down next to Mick. Jerome sat a few rows behind Mara and Mick, looking jealous.
"Judging by your look your last plan to break up Mara and Mick has failed," said Otis.
"I will not give up," said Jerome.
"Let her go mate. It will only give you misery if you carry on like this," said Otis.
"All is fair in love and war," said Jerome
"Jerome as your best friend, let me tell you focus on something else," said Otis.
"You're right," said Jerome
"I'm?" Asked Otis, who was surprised at Jerome's answer.
"Yes, if I make sure Mara wins the theme day and also the election, she will be so grateful to me. And then she realize that she and I are better fit together," said Jerome
"You sound like Alfie when he was sure he and Amber were going to be a couple. And we know how that ended," said Otis
"Otis, you've to help me. If you are going to make the flyer for Amber's theme day, you've make Amber's flyer as ugly and unappealing as possible," said Jerome.
"Whoa wait a minute. I can't do that," said Otis.
"Sure you can, after all you are the one who makes the flyers," said Jerome.
"But I don't want to. I take this seriously and want to do a good job. Listen to me mate, stop this and focus on yourself and not on Mick and Mara," said Otis.
A few hours later and the school day was over and the Anubis residents returned home.
Back at the house. Nina was sitting in her room looking at the that Sarah gave to her and it made her emotional. Nina heard knocking on the door and Fabian, Aaron, Patricia and Alfie entered to see if Nina was okay.
"Hey. Just checking you're okay," said Fabian
"Sarah died last night. These are her things. She wanted me to have them," said Nina.
"Nina, I'm so sorry," said Fabian, as he comforted Nina.
"She came to me last night. She spoke to me. She sat on my bed," said Nina
"Like, a ghost, or an alien?" Asked Alfie.
"Alfie" said Aaron and Patricia in unison, while Aaron also gave Alfie a smack on the back of his head.
"Seriously, it freaks me out," said Alfie.
"Okay, well, Alfie, if you want to be freaked out about something, be freaked out about the fact that the only person. Who had any answers or who could help us in any way is now gone," said Nina.
"I'm sorry," said Alfie.
"I'm really sorry guys, I promised Mara to go shopping for her and Fiona for her theme day. But I will tell Mara that something has come up," said Patricia.
"No don't do that. It's okay. You promised Mara, so go shopping with her. Have fun," said Nina.
"I promise you that after shopping I will immediately focus on the club again. Sibuna," said Patricia, while doing the Sibuna gesture.
"Sibuna," said Nina, while she did the Sibuna gesture.
Patricia left the room. Aaron and Fabian were looking through Sarah's stuff. Suddenly Aaron found something interesting.
"Um, guys I think you might wanna take a look at this," said Aaron, while he was holding up a document.
"Gustav and Isabella Zeno. Rufus' parents," said Fabian, as he read the names of the document
"What is it?" Asked Nina.
"This says that Rufus' parents became the legal guardians off Sarah two years after her parents died," said Aaron.
"And there's a copy of Rufus' birth certificate right here. He's definitely the same age as Sarah," said Fabian.
Not only did this mean that the club had evidence that Rufus really was taking the elixir, but also that Rufus wasn't just an old friend of Sarah, he was her adopted brother.
In the meantime. Trudy had to tell Victor the news that Sarah had died. Victor didn't show it, but deep down he was sad that Sarah had died and that he lost his old friend.
"Yes, died in her sleep, poor dear. Still, she'd lived a long life. You never did say what her connection was with this place," said Trudy.
"You can go now, Trudy, said Victor.
"Oh, right. Very well. Just thought I'd let you know. That's all," said Trudy.
Trudy left Victor's office and went downstairs. Victor turned his attention to Corbierre.
"The key is dead, Corbierre. So near, yet so far," said Victor.
A few hours later, Patricia, Mara and Fiona returned from shopping. Patricia went straight to Nina and Amber's room because she had received a message while shopping that she had to go to the club meeting as soon as possible. Patricia walked into the room and saw the other club members already sitting and waiting for her.
"I'm here," said Patricia, as she sat down.
"Okay now that we're all here. We now have not only Victor and the teachers behind the Cup of Ankh, but probably Rufus too," said Nina.
"Rufus?" Asked Patricia
"Yes, look here is his birth certificate," said Aaron, as he gave Patricia the birth certificate
"It says here he was born on December 21, 1915. That would make him 95 by now," said Patricia
"Whoa, that would make him almost a hundred and he still looks so young, what kind of moisturizer is he using," said Amber.
"Amber he isn't using any moisturizer, he drinks the elixir just like Victor," said Aaron.
"But didn't he asked for the Elixir when he kidnapped Patricia, at the exchange for her return?" Asked Alfie.
"Yeah, so that would mean he does drink it but can't make it himself," said Fabian.
Nina looked at the documents and had a strange feeling.
"Nina what's wrong?" Asked Fabian.
"According to these papers, Rufus parents adopted Sarah," said Nina.
"Yes that's right," said Fabian
"But what's the problem?" Asked Patricia.
"The nurse from the old people's home tells me that Sarah's nephew arranged the funeral," said Nina,
"But Sarah doesn't have any brothers or sisters at all," said Aaron.
"Except for Rufus," said Fabian
"So A, either Rufus ever had a son or B, Rufus is the nephew the nurse was talking about," said Nina.
"I go with B," said Aaron.
"But how is that possible. Rufus and Sarah are the same age, But Rufus doesn't look like a 95-year-old So wait Rufus is his own son?" Asked Amber
"Amber focus! Rufus has no son or is his own son. Rufus probably had his papers forged to make it look like he was born later than the year 1915," guessed Patricia.
"Oh, now I get it," said Amber.
While the club continued to discuss their next plan was going to be. At the same. Mara in her room checking her stuff that she bought today. Mara heard a knock on the door and Jerome entered the room.
"I see you've been shopping," said Jerome.
"Yeah, looks nice right," said Mara.
"Yes, it's going to be a perfect theme day," said Jerome.
"What are you doing here Jerome?" Asked Mara.
"Oh I have a few Bollywood movies here, maybe can you use them to get some inspiration?" Suggested Jerome.
"Thank you. Yes, Mick and I can watch them together for a romantic movie night and get inspiration at the same time," said Mara.
Jerome put down the DVD's on Mara's nightstand and left Mara's room and was sad that Mara wanted to use his idea for a romantic movie night with Mick.
Later that night. Victor in the cellar dressed in cloak. Victor was chanting something, then Victor looked at the vial were the elixir was in and just smiled evilly at it.
