Chapter 5

"Thanks for the meal." Praying, Simca and Tobi ate their meal. It was a simple breakfast Tobi had made for himself countless times to fill him up. Since he had a guest he made enough for two people. The meal consisted of Rice, Omelettes, soup, grilled fish, and a light salad.

Picking at the fish Simca offered it to Tobi "Say Ahh."

"Thank you."

Opening his mouth, a piece of the omelet was eaten before the favor was returned with a piece of fish. "Here you go."

The smiling pink-haired girl happily leaned forward making sure to lean low, so he can catch a glimpse of her unbuttoned shirt.

Well, it was his, she just wore it last night alongside a pair of panties. The morning was really awkward for Tobi.

The cold and the lack of food or sleep was something he could deal with. He was a gravity child and he had gone through much harsher training and experimentations. But a small part of Onibasu was starting to get a bit ticked off by the rom-com he was stuck watching. "This new couple vibe those two are showing is going to add to my mounting list of complaints."

At least it was something to watch other than the remaining Genesis members in the vicinity. The Flame King had left hours ago, possibly to his day job as a hairdresser. The man was in high demand with his female clients. Though the lighting king of Sleeping Forest was a bit worried about how Spitfire's eyes lit up when he read about Sanji's fight with Jabra of CP9.

"Even injured, Spitfire should be able to pull off that technique with his good leg."

Despite the fact that his enemies had gained a new technique, Onibasu was relaxed. After all, he heard his old friend talk about not wanting to conquer the Trophaeum tower. The base of Sleeping Forest where he and the other members protect the Sky Regalia. The possibility of not fighting more kings was a welcome piece of news to report back.

"Kilik would be happy with that development" Through the use of his Regalia he was able to monitor the two's movements. It was like sonar in a way but his version was less detailed than Kilik's regalia but it got the job done. The two had finished their meal, Onibasu got curious when Tobi walked back towards the kitchen and improved him cooking once more.

"So, is he going to make lunch or eat more breakfast at school?" The Noyamano sisters and Kilik were informed of parts of the student's schedule. Tobi always ate a large meal for breakfast and lunch at school. With the amount of stamina needed to perform what he did yesterday, Onibasu could understand.

But wasn't that too much for a single person? Tuning his regalia's frequency he listened in on the surveillance equipment that Genesis members had planted around the building.

"Do you normally need to eat a lot, Tobi-kun?" Simca was back on his back, for his sanity at least she was wearing proper clothes this time. Waking up to a naked girl clinging on to him was amazing and getting her to wear his shirt and her panties was an achievement many people would kill to see happen. But He liked them to get to know each other a bit more before triggering these events.

"Oh god, I'm thinking like Falco-san!"

The mindset of that pot-bellied shut-in man who asks Tobi to get his deliveries of limited edition 18+ games and figurines from questionable shops was starting to rub off on him. Somehow, Tobi could imagine Falco's voice calling him a coward for not taking full advantage of the situation in his head.

Maybe it was wrong of him to base how real-life worked on manga and anime. Tobi really did not have a grasp on how human relationships functioned, don't people normally level up in closeness before doing something like this? Ain't something of this level straight out of a harem manga.

It's not like real life was a battle manga where the protagonist has a woman throwing themselves at them for saving them or giving them power.

Wait... Dots connected in Tobi's mind. All the memories of him cringing and internally yelling at dense main characters from harem mangas flashed in his mind.

"Something wrong?"

A single eye looked back at the gorgeous woman. It had been hectic these past two days and he never had enough time to fully comprehend his situation. Even now he still had not but he was still not sure what to do with his life. But, Tobi knew what to do with this situation.

An unreadable expression appeared on his face for a brief moment before it went back to normal.

"Don't mind it... I just reevaluated my life and what I need to do that's all."

"Have the state of the world and where you stand finally hit you?" Simca replied with a concerned tone, her hand cupped his cheek and turned it. Making their gazes meet.

The eyes were the window to the soul and through Simca's Tobi could see... no he could feel nothing but concern for him. His heart skipped a beat

"If it's about the Storm Rider business, somewhat yes but I was not thinking about that."

"Then what were you thinking about?"

"Simca, are you interested in having a relationship with me, or are you normally like this with people?"

"Eh!?"

"I'll be honest I think I'm starting to fall for you."

"You're so forward, here let me reward you-"

A palm stopped her lips.

"I want a relationship, not a one night stand Simca-san."

A silent conversation happened between their eyes for an untold amount of time before either of them spoke.

"Would you like to go on a date with me?" With a Cheshire grin on her lips, she licked his thumb before giving it a kiss then took it in her mouth. On instinct, his hand unfurled and caressed her cheek.

"That be lovely, how about this Friday night."

"Ok then, so let's get back to cooking."

Turning back to the various ingredients being cooked Simca asked curiously "Do you normally eat this much?"

"I do need to eat a lot, since running around the city tires me out." Opening the rice cooker he scooped the hot rice before molding it. Placing some dried meat inside he then sealed it before molding it again. "But all this is not for me."

"Oh, is this for me Tobi-kun." Snaking her hands around his waist she stirred the pot on the stove, the soup needed more flavor in it. So she threw in some chicken stock and salt "I don't think I can eat all this but if it's from you I will finish it off"

"There's a portion for you as well Simca but I'm making some for others including your brother Kilik." Placing a seaweed stip on a finished rice ball he started working on the next.

"Oh, why would you need to do that for my brother." Leaning her face towards his neck she gave it a playful lick. The sound of his heartbeat racing from their interactions was like music to her ears.

"To apologize, I kinda told him I would not get involved and yesterday I ended up meeting you and was shadowed by what I assume to be your team members." Tobi shivered a bit, Kilik was a friend and he ended up breaking his word. He needed to make as much food as he could then go to the Noyamano sisters and ask how to contact Simca's brother.

"You noticed them." She had hoped he had not noticed them yesterday, it would be bad if Tobi thought she was being heavy-handed in her recruitment.

"At first I did not know who they were but then I saw that one of them might be Spitfire-san and the rest just fell in place." Pressing her face next to his, she continued stirring the pot and added in some meatballs. "Besides the way they looked at you, I think they were more worried about your safety." Things were starting to click in place and Simca was started to understand how Tobi's mind worked.

"Kilik, did you see how naive he is too? Did he remind you of yourself a bit?" Despite how Kilik crippled their old teammates, he made sure to keep them alive showing his softness and among them all, her brother was the kindest. If it was Nike or Sora they would have killed them all.

"How much do you know of our world?" Glancing at his hands she noticed how the muscles and skin hardened as they came in contact with the steaming rice. Could this be another technique he learned from that manga?

"Your brother did not tell me a lot just who to watch out for and that flame-haired person fit the description of the Flame King." Oh did Kilik tell him about Nike and Sora as well? That was an oversight, could her brother have been planning to tell him later?

"I see, Ne can I get you to join my team if I make you fall in love with me?" Pouring some soup on a small tasting dish, she took a sip. "Hmm, what do you think of this." She offered the dish to Tobi who tasted it.

"Needs some more time to simmer." Nodding Simca closed the lid on the pot. "Simca san, let's just see how our relationship develops first. I'm not sure what I feel for you is a crush or just lust."

Tobi felt her leg brush up against his thigh. "Rather than being tied down by the chains of society won't it be much better to spread your wings and fly as you please?" Her leg reached a bit higher making him blush. "Like I said yesterday, with me I won't chain you do and we can go wherever you pleased"

"I'd like that." Simca's smile resembled a Cheshire cat more than a bird at that moment. "However, I was told about how it could lead to people getting hurt." The smile lessened, in her mind she felt like she was talking to her brother again. Pleading with her and the others about how trying to obtain the sky regalia would cause pain and suffering to not just them but others as well.

"So why don't you come with me Simca and talk to your brother." The pot lid started to shake a bit from the build-up of pressure.

"I'm… I'm not sure if that's possible." Ever since that day years ago, she had never seen her brother.

Lifting the lid steam flowed through them both, Tobi's face met Simca's apprehensive face. "I don't know the full story and I'm sure I'm overstepping my boundaries but I'll do my best and make sure this conversation will go well" Siblings fight all the time right and Kilik didn't kill them so their bond should not be severed right.

That bond between family, it something he was really envious about. Something he wishes he had growing up, because of that Tobi could not stand seeing it wither and die while both siblings were still alive to fix it.

It was somewhat laughable. Both these siblings came to him because of his ability to walk upon the air and he wanted to see their broken bonds rekindled. Maybe it really was fate that they met.

"This can end badly, you'll see things that will change your prescription about everyone you knew." Including me was left unsaid.

"Then I'll take full responsibility." Simca ended up laughing, some tears fell down her cheeks making Tobi panic and try to reassure her.

Two hours away from dawn, the moon was already starting to sink and the dark sky covered the city's skyline. On top of a roof stood a black-cloaked figure and a group of smaller figures wearing white cloaks and childish masks.

"Nue we're getting near the building but Simca san is with him." Spoke one of the small figures, pulling the mask off revealing a black-haired child.

"Can't we just wait till later to meet the Rider?" Another child spoke up, a red-haired girl with braided twin tails.

"I want to see him do the Rider kick." A masked child spoke jumping slightly in the air before performing a flying kick. "It's going to be so cool."

"Shut it you Tokusatsu nerd, Nue san is cooler."

"That's not fair Nue san is cool but it's Kamen Rider we're talking about."

As the children bickered, Nue the lighting king just watched on. His helmet opening, his purple hair moved in the wind. Turning away from the children he looked at the apartment. Unlike some of the people who were informed of the revelation, he could not believe that Tobi Kaname was a normal person.

After all, a normal person should not be able to fly without ATs, there were thousands of people in the city and even more throughout the world that have read the manga One Piece. It was not realistic at all for some no-name orphan to achieve such a feat.

In Nue's eyes, Tobi Kaname was one of them, a gravity child or new project a scientist made in a lab before dumping him in an orphanage believing him to be a failure. Just like the children around him failed products.

Dropped off for his deadbeat father to raise them, Nue had taken to the task of raising them and they became a part of his team, Black Crow.

As they argued one of the children's contact lenses fell revealing one of the child's unique cross-shaped eyeballs. The indicator that they were a gravity child. A wire sprang out from his gauntlet, catching it before it dropped to the ground. Then lifting it up to return it to the grateful child.

"Thanks, Nue." Reapplying the lens the children bickered once more.

As much as he loved them, the children's bickering was a bit much for him at times.

"We're leaving now." Simca was on his back, with a large backpack on her while he was clad in a bluish-green tracksuit holding a large basket in his left hand.

Closing the door behind him, Tobi walked towards Simca's unit. "Do you want to leave a message for the landlady to get a new key Simca san?"

"No I'm fine, I asked friends to get me a new key and drop some stuff in." While it was smaller than her current room back in Genesis's base. Her new residence had a cute neighbor and his room had a homey atmosphere that she adored.

"Alright then. Let's get going." Walking towards the edge of the stairs Tobi dashed. Rushing through the city. His destination, the Noyamano household.

Halfway through an alleyway, a headache assailed his mind forcing him to stop for a moment. The floor under him started to distort. Perhaps he did not have enough sleep.

"Something wrong?" Nodding to Simca, he jumped towards a fire escape. Looking down at the alleyway he saw it returned back to normal.

"Do you feel a buzzing sensation in your head?" Turning his head, Tobi's eyes widened as he saw Simca's head grew demonic.

"Are you falling deeper into my charms?" The demonic face winked at him it's pink hair was glowing. His body froze, he felt no blood lust from her so he was safe.

"Were…-" His throat dried with fear but he pressed on"- Were the scientists who made the gravity children into yokai and the supernatural?" Simca's demonic face blinked at his words, rather than get angry and bite him she frowned. Then looked around the environment before yelling.

"Nue-kun, stop this now. Come here and apologize." The laughter of children rang through the alley as Simca's face returned to normal.

"Nue, yokai exists?" Around the alleyway, small white-cloaked figures appeared and the air distorted slightly revealing wires placed around the area. Sensing something above him he snapped his head at the edge of a roof.

Surrounded by more white figures was a taller black-cloaked person. Unlike the image of a Nue in his mind, the figure had no animal features, just a black helmet that opened to show a young child with purple hair. An interesting feature however was the cross-shaped pupils in his eyes.

"Sorry Simca. We just wanted to play a bit." Nue spoke back, the children on the ground jumped, and using AT's rode up the building. Gathering around the boy, Tobi could feel them all looking at him studying him. "We just wanted to come and see the Kamen Rider but he was asleep so we got bored waiting."

Then he heard rumbling from one of the children's stomachs. "I should have made more food, this amount is not enough for later."

"Are you hungry?"

"This onigiri tastes amazing."

"Mine has karaage in it."

"Give me a bite. I'll trade this salmon one for it."

"No I want it, get your own."

"You all should not be skipping your meals." Sitting on a blanket under a large three, Tobi drank some water as he watched the children devour the food.

They were close enough to the forest, so he was able to convince them to stop by there for a meal. They didn't' go in deep, just the edges. No matter how many times he replayed that earlier particular conversation in his head, it reminded him of the criminals that got caught offering candy to children. Only the children in this case were genetically enhanced.

"The news caught our attention and we rushed here, we didn't expect you to be asleep."

"Well good children need their sleep to grow up properly after all." Simca sat by his side hugging his left arm. "I'm still mad at you for using my beautiful face to scare Tobi kun." Her voice held a certain edge and he swore he felt a presence appear behind him glaring down at the Thunder King.

"I'll.. be sure to be mindful next time." The children were oblivious and just kept eating.

"So why did you want to come and meet me?" Hiding was useless at this point.

The air around them changed slightly and that buzzing sensation came back in Tobi's head making him blink his left eye "I wanted to see what kind of person you were."

"Oh, I thought you wanted me to carry you and the children around in the sky like Simca here." That got the children to move away from the food and turn towards him.

"Oh, can you?"

"It was not fair Simca, got to hog you all to yourself."

"Do a Rider Jump."

The children spoke up around him asking him to carry them around the sky. His will was wavering and Simca knew it. "A hero of justice should not make children cry right." That was a blow that cracked his resolve.

Nue threw Tobi a bone. "If you're worried about people finding out, this section of the forest is meant to be closed off from the public and-" Lifting a black armored hand sparks came to life. "-with my Thunder regalia, I can cancel out any electronic devices that could record us."

"See, now spread your wings. Be the hero these little ones want to see."

Staring at the children before him, Tobi calmly reached into his backpack and pulled out a helmet. The cheers of the children grew louder as Simca's smile grew larger.

The rumor started from a drunk man going into the woods to puke. He had just finished his night shift and was plastered, not wanting to pay for a cab home he cut through the woods to get home.

Barely able to work the man was startled when he heard the laughter of children from the sky. Turning the man fell down on the grass and watched in amazement.

A large blue bird was flying over the forest, it's massive wings shaking the air with each step. On its back rested a smaller pink bird that appeared to be singing. Then on the large avian's talons were chains pulling white spiders into the sky.

The rising sun cast its rays over the bird making it glow brighter.

The drunk stayed there transfixed by what he saw before the beast disappeared over the tree lines carrying the spiders with him.

Thus the legend of a blue phoenix was born.
