A/N: I am working on a long-term story, but I just have to get one-shots and the replanned stories out of my head to get back on the other story roads. Anyway, This is just my time-verse, after Toa, and slightly editing the myths to have allowed ONE girl on Ogygia. That's pretty much it, and here we go on this story's road.
-Ogygia, shortly before Percy landed-
Mina gave out an ungodly screech and kicked up a cloud of sand. No matter how hard she tried, she could not get back off this island. Her face started turning red from anger as she yelled at every single god other than her father. "Why the fuck would you drop me on fucking Ogygia!? Now I get to deal fucking Calypso! Thanks a fucking lot." She let out a low growl before stalking away to find Calypso herself. This was going to be extremely fun.
Calypso watched the fierce girl from the shadows, careful not to slip out from the area most people couldn't see. Eventually, Mina turned around and made full eye contact with Calypso. "You do realize that I can see through that shadow, right? I'm Mina. It looks like we'll be getting to know each other a lot better." Calypso swallowed and stepped out. Mina looked at her and immediately turned slightly pink and edged over to the side.
Soon enough, Mina found herself falling in deeper and deeper for Calypso. The raft hadn't come for her yet, so either Calypso hadn't fallen for her, or they just were contemplating whether or not to keep them both permanently on Ogygia. But soon, Calypso had fallen for her as well. The raft came. Calypso had been teaching Mina how to weave when Calypso had spotted it. "Th-the raft is here. Go, I can't come with you, but you can go."
Mina had looked up in alarm and shook her head. "No, I don't want to go. I want to stay here with you."
Calypso shook her head and brought her lips to touch Mina's. Mina had wrapped her legs around Calypso, and she'd taken that opportunity to walk her over to the raft and set her down. "I know that you won't be coming back. But promise me you'll try?"
Mina had tearfully nodded and her voice cracked. "I'll keep trying. I have to, I have to bring you home." And with those words, Calypso had hugged her one last time and pushed the raft off the shore.
-Cupid, same place in the timeline-
The chains holding Mina down clanked and creaked as she fought against them. Her wings sprung out to try to beat the air behind her and use the pressure from flying to break the chains. No such luck for her. She looked at Nico, who was being tortured by Cupid. No, she could not let that happen. Her wings beat one more time, fueled by anger and rage, and the chains broke.
A winged blur of black tackled the invisible Cupid, knocking him away from Nico. "Nobody messes with my brother," Mina growled at Cupid, slamming punches into anywhere she could reach. Nico knew it was too late, the only thing that would happen is that Cupid would focus on both of them. Nico gave up his secret, but Mina didn't stop.
Cupid coldly laughed. "Why don't you have some sympathy for your brother. After all, he's not the only one who's fallen for someone locked away. At least the one he's fallen for is reasonable. Why don't you tell them why exactly you're so far-fetched, hmm?"
Mina's teeth grit. Her sword came out of its sheath, which was a wicked 4 feet of curved Stygian Iron. Longer than Nico's sword, and it aimed at Cupid and missed. Only spilling a small bit of ichor, Mina yelled and fell backward as Cupid shoved her violently. Mina grit her teeth and got up, glaring at where she assumed Cupid stood. "I'm not unreasonable. Everyone falls for who they fall for, and that is how it happens."
Nico had to spare a look at Mina. Ichor was slowly inching its way to her fingertips from scrapes on her upper arms. Nico inhaled. "Mina, please. I doubt it's going to change how anyone thinks of you. And Cupid isn't doing anything useful right now, and won't until you face him."
Mina inhaled and looked straight ahead at Cupid. "Fine. Do you want to know why they call it unreasonable? I fell for Calypso. I fell for the girl forever trapped on an island. There, you happy now Cupid?"
Cupid cruelly smiled as he came into existence right where Mina was staring. "Love is never straightforward. But you've both faced it, which is all you can do." The scepter was left behind as Cupid vanished. Nico and Mina shared a look as she pulled the strings behind the shadows for Nico's shadow travel to be a bit easier.
-Camp Half-blood, after Toa-
Mina had been so happy when Calypso was back. It had been the tiny mechanic she was with that had ticked off Mina. Leo Valdez had the audacity to die and come back. Mina was a goddess for Hades' sake. A demi-goddess now, but that was beside the point. Hades knew that the gods were going to fade soon, so she had been dubbed back down to protect her.
Mina watched from the shadows at every surprise kiss, every hug, anything remotely cute she watched. Because as much as her heart was broken, the polyamorous side of her screamed a different song. She wanted both Leo and Calypso with her. So she was found one day by Nico, sobbing in a shadow that Leo and Calypso had been long gone from.
Nico had just knelt down and comforted her. No questions asked, no disgust as she spilled everything out to Nico. He just sat there and listened to her, and hugged her. It was the same as how he would listen to Hazel, just being there. Being that person who doesn't know what to say, so they just listen.
Leo had eventually gotten tired of how machine-like Mina had gotten. She would walk stiffly, talk in a monotone that couldn't be rivaled by even Nico. She showed off during sparring, but that was the only time she went extra. She wouldn't even shadow travel anywhere with Leo or Calypso. So he pulled her off to the side.
Mina shook Leo off and darted. Leo set up a wall of fire around her. "Now, the matter at hand. Why are you avoiding me and Calypso?" Mina stared at him for 5 minutes before walking straight through the wall of fire. She called out to him from the other side. "Dark and cold can beat light and heat." Then the fire was put out by a large shadow sweeping as she melted into another shadow.
Mina threw a rock at Leo from behind him. "But I will tell you why I avoid you. I like you, I like Calypso. You can see where I could get a little bitter from that."
Leo gaped at her. "Wait, you mean you're polyglamorous?"
Mina facepalmed. "No. Polyamorous." She pressed her palms into her eyes and melted into the shadow behind her.
Calypso walked up as Mina melted away. Leo turned to face her. He smirked. "Looks like we might be one step closer to getting our girl." Calypso smiled.
-A cafe, one week after the events of the above section- ^
Mina sat down in the seat near the edge of the cafe, silently waiting for her siblings. Her phone started ringing (they'd found a way to use the shadows as wi-fi so children of Hades/Pluto could use phones without a monster attack), and she answered it. Nico was on the other side. "Hey, I'm sorry but Haze and I can't make it. I didn't think that you'd like to be alone so I sent some other people we know."
Mina looked at the menu quickly. "Sure, that's fine. How do I know it's them?"
Nico laughed dryly. "I gave them Stygian Iron bracelets. Sense the iron and you should be good to go."
Mina looked at the menu one more time. "Got it. You want anything since I'm here?"
Nico thought for a moment. "Latte with a shot of espresso."
Mina nodded one more time. "Got it. Bye Neeks." Mina heard the sigh from the other side of the line before Nico said goodbye to her and she felt the cold feel of Stygian Iron from the entrance. She sent out a shadow to react with the Stygian Iron to let them know where she was and dismissed it. Then she saw who was at her table.
She dug out her phone and sent a call to Nico's phone. It went to voicemail. She heard the beep and started talking to it. "You have got to be fucking kidding me right now Nico. No, just no. The very same people I've been avoiding. You are fucking kidding me." She finished the voicemail and looked back up at Leo and Calypso. "Well,
it looks like you're staying whether I want you to or not. Choose what you want from the menu I guess."
Leo had a latte, with extra milk. Calypso ended up with a mocha. Mina got a black coffee, which she proceeded to dump creamer, sugar, and cinnamon in. She talked with them for a little while with her walls up, but the longer they were talking the further down her walls fell. She laughed, a lighter and more precious sound than her hard goth aesthetic exterior would give way for.
-Camp Half-blood, one hour after the above section- ^
Mina was giggling. Calypso and Leo had been alarmed at first, Mina never even laughed. But she'd laughed just a little earlier on, and Mina was enjoying herself. They ended up at Bunker 9 after a lot of Mina's caffeine-induced giggle session. They might have let their hearts drive them a little far. And Mina might not be walking correctly tomorrow.
But they were happy. And that's all that really mattered. (plus Mina got to join in on Calypso and Leo's relationship)
A/N: We have made it to the end of this one-shot. Be safe, wash your hands, and wear a mask.
