Too many realities- part 2
snoopykid asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2342 "Too many realities" where Emma is having a conversation with Henry after some sessions with Archie and she forgets him suddenly, as if she's "pre-curse Emma".
Emma had truly thought things were getting better. Archie was helping her narrow in on this reality. Her other memories were beginning to fade away, like distant dreams. She hardly worried anymore about forgetting…she was wrong not to worry anymore.
"How was your day, kid?" Emma asked Henry as he came in from school, dumped his bag on a chair and came straight to the kitchen to fix himself a snack.
"Alright." He replied gruffly. Emma playfully rolled her eyes. Trying to get more than one word responses out of Henry right now was like trying to get blood from a stone. He was really going through his teenage phase. Emma went back to doing some paperwork on her laptop. That's when it happened. She just shifted on the couch slightly. Just enough that the light coming in from the window reflected off her screen. It frazzled her a little. Then, Henry started speaking again.
"Ryan Collins tripped up in the cafeteria today. The whole school saw him trip and his lunch went all over Brodie Gray, one of the seniors. Who also happens to be on the football team. Poor kid. It'll go around the whole school for weeks." Henry turned when he noticed his mom wasn't responding. She was looking at him funny. "Mom?" He asked her. Still no response. "Mom, seriously, you're freaking me out. What's wrong?"
"Who are you? Why am I in a strange house?" Emma questioned him. Henry was a bit taken aback by this at first. It took him a moment to remember his mom sometimes forgot things just now. It had been so long since she'd had a slip.
"My name is Henry." He said calmly, just like Archie had told him to do. "I need you to trust me. Just take a few deep breaths. It will all be clear in a moment." He promised her. Emma wasn't sure how she felt about this, but she seemed to trust this stranger. She took a few deep breaths. With each one, the fog in her head seemed to clear a little more. Until she realised what she done. Henry. She had forgotten Henry.
"Kid." Emma croaked, voice thick with guilt. "I'm so sorry." Henry smiled reassuringly at her. He shrugged.
"It's alright." He promised her. "I get it. I get a couple of extra chocolate puddings this week and we'll call it square." He teased her. Emma smiled warmly back. He was always so understanding.
"Deal, kid."
