Hard to forget
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma getting confused about Henry not bringing Violet round to meet the family properly, especially since he's brought her to Regina's. After offering a bunch of fun things they could do together, Henry finally admits Violet's still a little scared of her after everything that happened in Camelot.
"I could take you both down to the firing range and let you impress her with some target skills…"
"Mom." Henry sighed. Emma rolled her eyes in frustration.
"Ok, ok. So maybe guns aren't your thing. I won't say I'm going to complain about that. What about that board game with all the train stations you like? We could pull that out and play that if you want. Or I could drive you both down to the stables and you could show her the horse your gramps got you since you already know she digs horses…"
"Mom, please." Henry insisted. "Enough." Emma pouted in a most immature fashion, complete with folding her arms across her chest. She was just becoming so frustrated with this! She'd been suggesting activities she, Henry and Violet could all do together for days, but Henry rejected every single one. It hadn't helped that Regina was gloating over Violet being round at her house for dinner.
"I just don't get it, kid. How come you brought Violet round to spend some proper time with your other mom but not us? Is it Hook being an ex-pirate? Is that putting her off? If that's what's wrong, I can send him onto the Jolly Roger for the evening…"
"It's not Killian, mom, it's you!" Henry blurted out. Emma was stunned. Her? She was the problem? Henry now felt awful he'd let it come out like that, even if she had to be told at some point. He rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably. He knew he had to explain properly now. "Remember…Violet's only experience of you is as the Dark One…and she remembers everything that went down in Camelot now." Henry reminded her. Now Emma understood. It didn't exactly make a good first impression when you controlled your son's future first serious girlfriend's heart with no permission. Emma could understand why Violet was a little wary.
"Have you told her I'm not a Dark One anymore?" Emma asked. Henry nodded.
"Of course I have mom. I want her to come round here and properly get to know you guys too. It's just going to take a little more time until she's ready." Emma nodded, her lips pressed tightly together. She knew she wasn't fully in control of her actions as the Dark One, but she still felt awful about what had happened to that poor girl.
"Yeah, I get that. Just…don't let it be too long, ok? I do want to make it up to her, and show her I'm not all bad." Emma said. Henry smiled.
"I'll do my best." He promised her.
"Unless she hurts you, then I can be just as bad." Emma quickly added. Henry rolled his eyes and grabbed his bag, ready to head out. He would leave that warning out when he next tried to convince Violet to come round to his other mom's house.
