Knocked back
PTSD asked for a oneshot of *season 6 spoilers!* Emma getting hit over the head by Hyde and, when she wakes up, she has no memory of Storybrooke or Boston. The last thing she remembers is being with Neal/Bae.
"She's waking up." My vision was blurry, and my head was pounding. I groaned, trying to stop the world from spinning and put it bac so there was only one of everything. I was aware of beeping all around me. Was I in a hospital, had I been in some kind of accident? I heard whisperings about a Hyde and right in the back of the head. Yeah, I must have hit my head, or someone called Hyde was involved.
When everything eventually cleared up, it was clear I definitely was in a hospital. There was a couple standing over me, looking concerned. The woman was holding a baby, and there was a kid beside the man. He must have been in his early teens. He looked the most upset. Had they been involved the accident as well?
"Oh Emma, we were so worried…" The woman slid the baby so she was holding him in one arm. She reached her hand out to touch my face. I jerked back, horrified. I didn't know this woman! I didn't know anyone here! The beeping on the machines got louder, and that just made me feel even more agitated.
"Who there!" I shouted. The woman looked hurt that I had rejected her. "Stranger danger. Where am I? Where's Neal?" Now they all just looked confused.
"Neal's right here, honey." The woman said, gesturing to the baby. I made a face like I'd been sucking on a lemon. I hated people giving me pet names, especially when they didn't even know me.
"Oh, is your kid called Neal too? I mean my boyfriend. Does he know I'm here? Can I call him?" Silence. What was up with these people? "Look, I don't know who any of you are, or if you're involved in why I'm in here or not. If you're waiting for insurance details, Neal's the one with them. Can you get a doctor so I can call him, please?" I asked. The couple looked at each other, and it was almost as if they were having a conversation.
"Well, I'm going to get the doctor to come take a look at you, Emma. Henry, why don't you come with me and wait in the cafeteria?" The boy didn't look pleased about that. Maybe he just didn't like hospitals.
"But what if…"
"Come on." The guy cut him off, putting an arm around his shoulders and taking him out with him. Now I was left with the touchy feely woman and her baby. Awkward.
"You know, once they let me call my boyfriend, it won't be long till he gets here. I won't be on my own for long, if that's what you and your guy are worried about. It's easy enough to get a cab anywhere in New York. What hospital am I in, anyway? I'll need to let him know." I asked her. She seemed reluctant to answer. I was about to press her on it when the man came back with a doctor.
"Nice to see you've joined us again, Miss Swan." The man said, grinning. I smiled politely back. I hated hospitals, I just wanted out of here. The woman smiled before urgently tugging on the man's shoulder.
"We'll give you some space." She explained. I didn't care, why should they hang about? The man seemed confused though. What a strange couple. The doctor then shone a light in my eye, asking lots of stupid questions about who the president was and where I thought I was.
"Look buddy, unless I've suddenly developed the ability to spontaneously transport myself, I'm in New York. The president is George W Bush. Can I please call my boyfriend now?" This was just becoming annoying! The doctor seemed concerned. "What?" I asked him. "Is something wrong?" The doctor frowned. "Tell me!" I demanded.
"Emma…you're not in New York. You've been living in Maine for some time now…"
"Maine?!" I squeaked. "I haven't ever lived in Maine!" What was going on?!
"The year is two thousand and seventeen…"
"Excuse me?!" I demanded. "It's two thousand and one!" I leapt out of the bed and yanked the wires out of my arm. "I'm outta here." I said gruffly, storming out of the room. But before I could get very far, the odd couple were flanking me. I ignored them, I just wanted out of this weird place.
"I don't think you should be leaving…"
"Well it's none of your concern." I snapped. I was done being polite. I wanted to go call Neal and go home.
"You'll understand this later." The guy said. Before I could ask him what the Hell he meant, I felt myself being lifted off the ground, with my arms pinned to my sides. I screamed and kicked out, but he still forcibly carried me back into the room.
"Get off me you freak! This is assault! I hope you have a damn good lawyer!" I screamed at him. He ignored me and put me back on the bed, by this point, there was a team of doctors and nurses in the room, preventing me from leaving. I screamed out, trying to escape, but I was overpowered. I was aware of th weird couple being ushered out the room. The woman was asking if this was necessary, but she was told it was for my own good. I disagreed. Whatever was going on here, wasn't good. As soon as they took their eyes off me, just for a second, I would be gone. I'd find a phonebooth and call Neal, he must be worried about me by now. He would be furious about this when I told him. If we weren't on the run with a stolen car, we'd sue. As it stood, we'd settle for never coming anywhere near this hospital wherever it was again.
