"Now we will have the prosecution's opening statement-" Chief Justice Williams advised. "First the prosecution" he directed as he looked over to Ben's lawyer Gareth, who quickly stood up at this.
"Thank you Chief Justice" he smiled over to him.
"Good morning, my name is Gareth Grey, and it is my pleasure to represent his Royal Highness King Benevolent Florian Adams and his wife, Mrs Maleficent Adams-" Gareth began as he looked over to the jury. "Or Mrs Mal Adams, how I am going to name her in the case" he quickly amended. I remembered the conversation that I had had with Gareth about how I wanted to be addressed in this case and he accepted the fact that I wanted to keep my middle name out of it, thankfully. "I intend to serve as a prosecutor in this very important case-" he added.
"On the eighteen of August 2020, the accused" he stated as he harshly pointed over to the accused without looking away from the jury. "Conspired together to create a plan of a very grave nature!" he exclaimed. "They kidnapped his Majesty, tied and bound his family member and staff and tortured him to the point where he was very close to death!" he urged which caused the jury to gasp at this.
"As well as this they have attempted to manipulate and rape his now wife, who was at the time his fiancé, Mrs Mal Adams" he concluded which made me sigh at this. "At the conclusion of this case, and after you have heard all of the evidence, I am very confident that you will return a verdict of guilty" he insisted.
"Ladies and gentleman, this case is about a group of men who are led by Bobby Bailey who was so enraged that Mrs Mal Adams had ended their very brief relationship that he felt the need to go to these extremes" he stressed dramatically. "An individual who I will go on to prove, had no need to press this matter. As Mrs Mal Adams and Mr Bobby Bailey hadn't been involved for some time" he explained.
"Members of the jury, the State will call a number of different witnesses in this trial-" he began again. "You will encounter statements and evidence from the royal couple themselves, and how this situation has affected them deeply. You will hear the statements from the Auradon City Police force about their findings" he clarified for the jury. "And you will also hear from Mr Carlos De Vil, as he helped the police with their findings" he stated. "Members of the jury, I am not going to hide any evidence from you, as this would be very prejudicial to this case" he advised. "But I am not going to warn the severity of it," he stated as he pointed in the direction of the jury. "Some of the evidence that is going to be submitted to you is not for the faint hearted" he advised sternly. "So please take that into account when viewing the evidence made available to you" he offered. "I would now like to stress that the defence may claim that the defendants had gone temporarily insane at the time of the incident" he continued in the same polite tone. "Heck!" he exclaimed. "There are even certain defendants that are claiming to have been bullying into committing such crimes" he added and my eyes quickly went over to Chad. Over the course of the investigation Chad had changed his story a couple of times; at first he just kept saying no comment, this then changed to him claiming that he was being bullied into it by his cousin. However a couple of days ago Chad had changed his story completely; he advised that he wanted me for himself, which I actually found laughable. As long as I had been in Auradon I had never thought of Chad that way, and I never would! He should have known this by the amounts of times that I had said no to him. I just couldn't believe how deluded the lot of them were!
"However-" I heard Gareth say, which broke me out of my train of thought. "I will be able to establish and show you that this is not the case" he added confidently. "In conclusion, after you have heard all of the evidence that I am about to put to you. I would like to ask that you find the defendants guilty as charged on all counts. Thank you" Gareth concluded before he quickly sat down. I started to feel uneasy at this; I knew what Gareth was about to reveal to the court. I knew that my reputation was going to take a massive hit due to this trial - I just hoped that it wasn't going to turn the council and the Kingdom against me, as I think Ben had been put through quite enough as it is!
