Changing things
OnceLover asked for a oneshot of *6x17 spoilers!* Snowing finding little Emma.
The temptation was too great. Snow and Charming couldn't not go through the door. They couldn't sacrifice Emma's life, even if it meant forever being cursed. Besides, the parents were forever hopeful. Rumple only suspected that interfering with Emma at this point in time would prevent her from becoming the Saviour. There was still a chance that they might be able to prevent Emma's death, but have her still break the curse. It was just a slim one. But it was better than the certain chance that Emma would die if they didn't do this. Now here they were, standing at the doorway, their eight-year-old daughter sitting on a bed in yet another group home. She already looked so lost.
"Who are you?" She asked. Snow and Charming felt their hearts skip a beat. How did they go about this? They knew they couldn't take Emma away from here. It would rip a hole in the fabric of space and time so great that it would do untold damage to all realms.
"We're just people who care about you, Emma." Charming answered. He knew Emma would have her super power even now, so it was best to not lie. They just couldn't tell her the whole truth. Emma scoffed, raising an eyebrow at the statement. It hurt Snow and Charming that even so young, their baby girl didn't believe there was anyone who could care about her. How could they hold back from telling her just how much they loved her?
"We just wondered if it was ok if we talked?" Snow asked her. Emma shrugged, sitting up in her bed and pulling the headphones out of her second-hand Walkman. Snow and Charming took that as a yes, and came into the room.
"We can't stay long." Charming told her. "Mrs Weir said you've got dinner in about fifteen minutes." Emma looked like she was about to say something about that, but decided she better not. Snow and Charming's fears were now confirmed. They hadn't smelled anything cooking.
"This isn't going to make a whole lot of sense." Snow began. "It's hard to explain…" Emma was now curious. She looked at the strange couple, wondering what they were about to tell her. That's when Charming pulled a bottle out of his jacket pocket.
"So it's probably easier if we don't." He said. Before Emma could react, Charming took the lid off the small bottle and poured the powdery contents over Emma. Her eyes glazed over. Rumple had combined two potions: one that would take away Emma's true love magic, and one that would allow her to forget this strange visit. Each parent then quickly kissed Emma's head, memorising every inch of her. Their little princess. It pained them to leave her here, but they could only hope this wasn't goodbye. Just because Emma wouldn't have magic now, didn't mean she couldn't break the curse…did it?
