Duct tape gags never work. Kidnappers are never aware that someone can easily push the tape off with their tongue, unless you shove a sock or washcloth or something in the victim's mouth before you tape it, but most people don't think of that. Four was able to realize that quickly so she could whisper-yell at Three for having his tentacle in her face. Three was in a bit of shock thinking that she had been silenced. Soon after Eight realized what she had done and did the same. Three seemed angry that he couldn't figure out what the other two, who were younger than him, had done. Eight whispered at him to chill and told him what to do.
Three looked unimpressed, but did what his friend told him to do. Duh, that was obvious. Sigh.
"Wait, so now should we cry out for help of something?", Four whispered.
"No," whispered Eight sternly like a business man. "We were assigned to make sure the police and lawyers and stuff DON'T find out about this. We don't want someone to have to deal with the law."
"Oh. Right."
"So, Ash, what's her car like?"
"I dunno. I was too busy crying to pay attention. All I remember is that it smells better than this moldy duffle bag. I think it's like a limo or something."
"Getting sanitized smells better than this," Three muttered.
"Wait, did you say a LIMO?!", Eight whispered loudly.
"Yeah. I think there was a different guy driving the thing. Almost positive there were some other squids and octopuses in the car doing evil laughs and drinking shardene. Might have also smelled cigars and incense, or maybe potpery.."
"This… will be weird."
Suddenly, they heard the trunk door open. Karen looked around to see if anyone was around. Coast was clear. She tossed the duffle bag into the trunk of her limo. One of the guys got out of the limo. He smelled like cigars and alcohol. He got into the trunk as Karen slammed the door shut.
"Hello kids! I'm Paul, but you can call me Pall."
"I think I already would've called you Paul," said Three.
"No, I said PALL, not Paul."
"THEY'RE THE SAME THING."
"No. They're. Not. Though we may look hip with the kids, us SEW agents are serious."
"Did he really just say that?", Four whispered to Eight.
"Pretty sure. Unless my ears aren't working."
"So," Paul/ Pall siad. "I'm cool. You guys will like me."
"Uh, can you at least explain to us what you're doing here?"
"Right, right. SEW is a secret society that lives underground, like literally every other secret society. Got it?"
"Yes..?"
FUN FACT! A "pall" is a sheet that is put over coffins. Yes. I searched that up literally just now. You know, making sure it's not a no-no word or anything, but yeah. Coffins. YEE IT'S COFAGRIGUS TIME (cofagrigus is my favorite pokemon, either that or quilava)!
This man was confusing. The SEW agents all had overly-unique personalities, kinda like cliche villains… OH WAIT-
"When does the boat land?", asked Eight.
"Tonight."
"So then why are we in the car now?", Four questioned.
"Yeah, and our stuff's still in the cabin," Three noted. "What's up with that?"
"And what is SEW?", Eight wandered.
"One question at a time, children," said Paul. "First off, you're in the car now because we worry about room inspections and stuff. I'm here as like a babysitter to keep you company and stop you from suffocating. Secondly, your stuff WILL be retrieved, and you will have lunch in around forty-five minutes. Got that?"
"Yes."
"The last question is more… difficult. It will be challenging to explain."
Meanwhile (haha sorry for the cliffhanger), Marie wanted to quit life and become a goat for a day. Why a goat? She didn't really know what a goat was, but she had heard about it in sixth grade history class when the class was talking about mammals and ancient life. Goats were mammals that lived in rocky areas and would eat grass and jump around without much care as to what they were doing. Being a goat for a day sounded pretty legitimate. Well, at least what she learned in sixth grade sounded cool.
While her cousin contemplated life in the corner, Callie quietly watched with curiosity as to what to heck was going on in that squid's head. A thought suddenly came to her and all three of her heart kinda just went sonic mode on her.
Yes. Squids have three hearts. Google it. Not lying here.
"MarieThere'sSomethingIHaveToTellYou"
"Y-yeah?"
"You know how I was always raised by gramps?"
"Go on."
"And.. well, how I was never truly adopted?"
"I have no idea where you're story is going, bu I guess you can go ahead."
"When I was with Octavio-"
"CALLIE DO NOT FINISH THAT SENTANCE." Yup, Marie was back to normal. "That's not even… What? How does he adopt you you're EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD?!"
"I don't know…"
Marie slowly facepalmed and shook her head with a sigh. "I… I mean… I can't blame you. You weren't even conscious. But… How does he..? I am SO confused. I'm sorry, I'm not angry at you or anything, I… I don't understand."
"Heh… heh…"
"Wait."
"What?"
"If you were brainwashed how the hell would you know that he adopted you?"
"Well…" Confessing things was never something Callie was good at. "You see… um… I learned to read Octarian while I was under the control of the SatanGlasses."
"SatanGlasses" was what Callie called the Hypnoshades.
"And?"
"Many people get bad tattoos when they're eighteen and regret it forever."
"Huh..?"
"I… noticed some words on the weird octopus mark thing. I later decided to read it. I wasn't sure what they meant so I searched it up. Apparently, when a child gets adopted in Octo Valley… They.. get that mark… thingy… Yeaahhhh…"
"How do we fix this?" Marie was at the utter state of confusion.
"Um.. hmmmmm.. Er, uh, aaaaaaaaaa"
"Callie can you please think in your head?"
"Right, sorry."
Um.. hmmmmm.. Er, uh, aaaaaaaaaa, Callie thought in her head, trying to come up with an idea. She couldn't.
"Can't we just, like murder Octavio?"
"Wait what no." Marie got an idea. "Maybe we can just make a court case or something saying an adult can't adot an adult."
"WAIT A MINUTE."
"Oh god what is it this time."
"I just realized why he had to wait two whole year to kidnap me!"
"Please be reasonable, please be reasonable, don't be stupid."
"Don't you get, like, I don't know how it goes, but, hmm.. Isn't it more illegal to kidnap a minor than a not-minor?"
"Do you mean an adult?"
"Yeah!"
"We are getting really off topic here. What were we even talking about in the first place?"
"Let's not talk about that. Do you want a marshmello?"
"Um, you're acting weird but okay sure."
Callie got a bag of marshmallows and went back to where Marie was.
"Marshmello fight?" Marie asked.
"Yeah!", said Callie. "Like the ones we would have when we were little!"
They both picked up a marshmello and were about to throw when suddenly…
RING RING RING RING PHONE NOISES BEEP BOOP AAAA RINGTONE
"Uh Callie I think your phone is ringing."
"I know."
Callie picked up the phone. Marina. Cool okay.
"Hello!", Callie greeted. "Is everything going okay?"
"Uh, that's what I was about to tell you about."
"Huh?"
"Your grandfather isn't concered about this at all, neither is Pearl, but about an hor ago we got a call from Three saying 'emergency, emergency'. There was scratching noise, and then he hung up. Again, this isn't concerning anyone else. Are you concerned?"
"Definnately?"
"Thank you. ONE MORE REASONABLE PERSON IN THIS WORLD."
"Uh.. so, what do we do?"
"I was literally just gonna ask you that, but I think I have an idea on what to do."
In terms of bad situations, Marina always had ideas. Because she is big brain. Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
"My idea is this: Search up the boat they took and learn where it was going. Go there. Find them. What do you think?"
"Why didn't anyone else think of that?"
"Good question. Search engines solve all of lifes problems!"
"So true. Wait. Marina, can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead," the octoling said in her normal silvery voice.
"Apparently Octavio adopted me. Do you know how to fix this?"
It hurts to write this. My GOD. but I'm an atheist…
"How did he adopt you? You're eighteen. That doesn't make sense."
"I.. read the words on the octopus mark thingy. I says he adopted me at fifteen, but I haven't bee fifteen in three years!"
There are WAY too many issues going on right now, Marina thought and sighed.
