The excited chatter of The Great Hall reaches Eden's ears as she smooths out her robes. After the interaction she had with Draco by the carriages, she snuck off to the bathrooms to change into her robes and hide in the stall until the sorting was over. She knew she wouldn't be able to stop herself from looking at him during the sorting, she had too little self-control.

So after she was sure she waited long enough she made her way into the hall, keeping her head down as she walked toward the Hufflepuff table. Once she stood in front of Hannah and Justin she reluctantly lifted her head to meet their eyes, "Is it alright if I sit here?" She motions to the spot on the bench right across from them.

"Of course," Hannah says, relief washing across her face at the sight of her friend acting slightly more normal. Eden smiles softly at them and takes a seat on the bench, folding her hands in her lap as she looks at all of the food around her.

Finally, feeling like her friends would explode right then and there, she looked at them head-on, "I'm sorry I didn't write back all summer," she says genuinely, "I just...I didn't know what to say without sounding too depressing." She admits.

"Oh, Edie, it's alright," Hannah reaches across the table and holds her hand out. Eden hesitantly holds it, "We figured you might not write back we just thought…" She looks at Justin for him to continue.

"We just wanted to make sure that you knew we were here for you." He says, and that's when Eden notices that he's holding Hannah's other hand, their fingers intertwined.

She smiles at them and pulls her hand away from Hannah's, starting to put some food on her plate, "So, have you two finally made it official?"

The couple blushes and releases their hands, "I went to visit her over the summer and finally got the balls to ask her." Justin says with a smile.

"It was quite romantic actually," Hannah goes into the whole story of how Justin had asked her to be his girlfriend, and Eden half listens as she takes small bites of her food. She hated herself for the rude thoughts she was having, but she couldn't help and think that being so excited about something so silly was a bit dumb at a time like this. But still, Eden smiled at the couple across from her, truly happy that her friends had each other, but feeling the all too familiar, nasty feeling of jealousy pulled at her heart at the thought that now she would be the odd one out.

However, Hannah's story was interrupted by Dumbledore approaching his podium to start his welcome speech, "Good evening, children," He boomed, gaining silence throughout the hall, "Now, we have two changed in staffing this year," He starts, "We're pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank, who will be taking care of Magical Creatures while Professor Hagrib is on temporary leave."

Eden frowns slightly, wondering what could have taken Hagrid away from the school for so long, "We also wish to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Delores Umbridge." Everyone's eyes fall to the small brunette woman at the end of the table, who was hard to miss due to the fact that she was in head-to-toe bright pink, "and I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the professor good luck. As usual, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has asked me to remind you…"

The pompous and high pitched clearing of a throat made the headmaster trail off, everyone's eyes at the end of the table once again as the new professor began to rise to her seat, making her way around the table as if to address the students. "Thank you, Headmaster, for those kind words of welcome." The small woman made her way to stand in front of Dumbledore's podium, her heels clicking against the hard floor. Eden could have sworn she had seen this woman somewhere before, "And how lovely, to see all your bright, happy faces, smiling up at me."

One quick glance around the room and Eden could confidently say, no one was smiling. "I'm sure we're all going to be very great friends." Justin placed his hand over his mouth to cover his slight chuckle and Hannah nudged him in the ribs. Umbridge continued, "The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance." She began to sort of pace back and forth on the elevated surface as if staring down each and every student in the room.

"Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school…" Dumbledore gave her a slight nod even though her tone did not make it sound like a compliment, "Progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be...prohibited." She finished off with a whisper.

Dumbledore starts the applause but most of the students are too confused to even bring their hands together, "Thank you, professor, that really was most illuminating."

"It is bad that I already miss Mad-Eye?" Justin says under his breath as Dumbledore continues on with the speech he was trying to give before.

Eden had a feeling that this new professor would be affecting a lot at Hogwarts, and not in a good way.

…..

After walking out of The Great Hall, Eden is simply trying to return to the Hufflepuff common room with the rest of her house when she is roughly grabbed around the arm for the second time that night and pulled into a deserted corridor. She looks at the person holding her hostage against the stone wall and groans when she sees it's Draco.

"What do you want?" She asks in annoyance, glancing at his two arms that are on either side of her head, the rough stones on the wall not only digging into her back but the skin of his palms.

"The privilege of knowing you?" He sneers, his lip curling in anger, "Believe me, Eden, it is not and never has been a privilege to know you."

"Great, you've made that bloody clear." She snaps at him, "Now why don't you let me leave and you can go fuck my sister." She wasn't sure why he was being so nasty, the last time they had been alone together he was so nice and he had almost–no, she couldn't think about that Draco because that wasn't the Draco in front of her right now. He was nice and sweet to her when it was convenient for him, and he was this nasty and cruel version of himself for the rest of the time.

"What Clara and I do is none of your business." A devious smirk grows on his face, "Unless you'd like to make it your business since you enjoyed watching her put her hands all over me that night." She clenches her jaw, her face going red from both embarrassment and anger.

"Enjoyed it?" She growls, her voice rising, "You think I enjoyed it? Are you honestly so fucked up that you think a girl crying means she's enjoying herself?" She shoves him away by his chest but he only comes right back to pinning her against the wall, his forearms now resting by her head, making them even closer.

Eden lets out a startled gasp as his minty breath fans her face and he takes a minute to breathe in her familiar scent of honey and vanilla, "Believe me, Eden, I know how to make a girl enjoy herself."

"Well, I for one am not enjoying myself right now." She snaps back quickly. Draco has to keep himself from smiling. He liked that there were two sides to his Eden and only he could see them both fully. There was the side from that night on the roof, where she was sweet and vulnerable, like putty in his hands. And there was this Eden, the fiery and sassy Eden, the same one that had slapped him in the hallway last school year and the one at the carriages earlier.

"Really?" He raises a challenging brow and slides his hands down from her head to her waist and now pinned her to the wall with his hips, "How about now?"

Eden sucks in a breath and looks down at their touching hips and his hands on the curve of her waist. Despite her shocked expression, she shakes her head quickly, "No." She says, barely even believing herself.

"I don't believe you." He whispers, his voice slightly raspy as he slides his hands under her robes and slowly untucks her blouse from her skirt, his fingers skimming the soft skin of her hips as he holds her closer to him. He smirks as he can feel the goosebumps form on her skin and her chest starts to move up and down rapidly.

"Draco…" His name on her lips was like sweet wine, "what are you doing?"

"Enjoying myself, you should try it." He answers smoothly. Eden pauses for a moment. He was enjoying himself? With her? Right now?

She doesn't know where her boldness comes from but the words are tumbling out before she can stop them, just as his hands reach the bare skin of her waist, "If you're enjoying yourself so much then kiss me." She breathes softly.

Draco looks into her eyes, her words throwing him off guard for only a moment before he regains his composer. They both know that they shouldn't, it would probably be the last thing that they should do, but it was a long time coming for the both of them and they knew it was going to have to happen at some point.

And that point was now. With their hips pressed together, his cold hands on the warm skin of her waist and her back against the stone wall, their lips finally meet in a sweet and slow kiss.

Eden isn't sure what to do at first when something that you've been waiting for for so long finally happens, what are you supposed to do? Her hands start by resting on his forearms as if keeping herself up since she felt like her knees were going weak as an electric sort of feeling made its way from where their lips met to the tips of her toes.

She slides her hands slowly up from his arms to his shoulders and they meet together behind his neck, his hands squeezing tighter on her waist as she presses her chest against his, wanting nothing more than to just melt into his body. The kiss intensifies as Draco feels her full chest press against him and he slides his tongue along her bottom lip, making her gasp which allows him to slip his tongue into her mouth. He almost forgot for a second that this was her first kiss but that thought alone made him smile into the kiss and slide his around to the small of her back.

Their tongues intertwine with ease and her small fingers tangle with the hair at the back of his head, garnering a small moan from his swollen lips, and as if on instinct his hands slide to her ass over her skirt.

She pulls away reluctantly at his new hand position, their faces still breaths apart, and their lips were swollen, "I…" She swallows, catching her breath as her eyes roam his face. Her eyes fall shut and she blows a breath out through puckered lips.

"In shock, darling?" Draco asks teasingly, "My kisses tend to do that." Her eyes open and she rolls them playfully. The truth was he never had a kiss like that in his entire life and he wanted more. So much more.

"Well, I have nothing to compare your kisses to. For all I know you're the worst kisser in the world," She teases him even though she knows that was far from the truth. She grabs his wrists and slides his hands from her butt, "I was going to say that we need to get to our common rooms before someone catches us."

He tsks, trying to put his hands back, "You worry too much, Birdie." he dips his head down for another kiss but she pushes him back lightly.

"You don't worry enough." She whispers, finally managing to slip away from his hold of her against the wall, "Seriously, Draco, we need to go." She breathes, starting to head in the opposite direction that he has to go toward his own common room.

Draco rolls his eyes and comes out of the corridor where it felt like they had spent an eternity, "Goodnight, Eden." He says softly, turning to walk toward the dungeon. He doesn't get far, though, when he hears soft footsteps running behind him and a firm hold on his wrist, spinning him around.

Eden meets his lips again in a deep kiss, her hand on his cheek. She pulls away, his eyes still closed and their lips brushing together as she speaks, "Goodnight, Draco."

When he finally opens his eyes, she's halfway down the large corridor, almost scurrying to get back to her common room before someone sees them. But, Draco stays to watch her go until she rounds the corner out of sight.

He knew what they just did was something that they should have never done, and he had a feeling that things would only get more complicated from here on out. But, at that moment, with the lingering taste of her kiss on his lips and the burning touch of her warm skin still on his fingertips, Draco could have sworn that everything was perfect.
