If you want to learn a life hack on surviving a kidnapping, read the begining of chapter 9, or maybe I'll just say so right here. I'll do that. Basically, if you're taken against your will and your captors try to silence you with a duct tape gag, breaking it it REALLY easy. Like, literally. I did some experiments where I gagged myself with duct tape and then tied my legs together and held my arms behind my back. Here was my conclusion: No matter how many layer of tape or what shape I put them in, I could always break the gag by pushing on it with my tongue. Not to mention, the ting I tied my legs with was caution tape, which can easily be broken by chewing it. Just some fun info so that you don't die.

WARNING! This chapter is super spooky.

It was a normal Thursday in Camp Triggerfish's Sea Snake Village. Pearl and her friends had just come back from lunch, which was margarita pizza, the best kind. Tori and Ben had the afternoon off, or so they said. Not only were they the head counselors, but they were also the counselors for cabins 1 and 2, where the big kids ages twelve and thirteen slept. The big kids were proud of THEIR day off, since there was no counselor supervising them.

When everyone was in the village, Sabina and the counselor from the little boy cabin, Keagan, had an announcement.

"While our superiors have a day off," said Sabina. "We would like to do a little prank!"

The little squids got excited and started cheering.

"We've decided that while they're gone, we're gonna move their beds out of their cabins!", Keagan declared.

"I don't like this idea," said Luna. "It seems mean."

"Yeah, I agree," said Kathy.

However, Pearl, Camber, and Brooklyn seemed to love the idea and had already ran to Cabin 2 to help the older girls get Tori's bed out. What jerks.

Keagan and Sabina instructed the kids to place them in the middle of the village so they could "enjoy the stars" that night.

The rest of the day went by pretty normally. Crafts, ink sports, climbing activities, you get the geist. The sun began to set, so they did their evening routine and went back to their cabins.

"I'll give you guys fifteen minutes to talk," Sabina told the girls, and then left.

"So, what'dya wanna talk about?", Brooklyn asked.

"I like blue raspberry flavored sugar drinks," said Luna, pretty much out of context.

"LIKE THE BLUE RASBERRY JUICE THEY SERVE IN THE MESS HALL?", Pearl said hyper. "MMMMMMMMM"

"Pearl, chill," said Brooklyn.

"No one tells ME to chill," snapped Pearl.

"Geez," Camber muttered as she got out her flashlight and began to read a book.

"So, anything else?", questioned Luna. "Cuz I'm getting bored! Plus, I'm pretty sure it's been fifteen minutes, and Sabina still isn't back."

"Wait," said Kathy. "I think I see someone entering the village. Tori and Ben are back!"

"They're back? Lemme see!"

Brooklyn jumped down from her bed and ran to the window, soon followed by the others. It took Camber the longest, since Pearl always insisted on hanging her stuff on the ladder, preventing her from getting down easily.

The girls crowded around the window like children in a cliche Xmas movie. Tori looked angry when she saw her bed in the middle of the village. Ben thought it was hilarious. Tori slapped him and said something. Ben nodded, and the two went into the lodge. They came back out carrying some stuff, but the girls couldn't see what.

"Someone needs to tell the boys," said Brooklyn.

"Ew, I'm not going into the BOYS' cabin," said Luna.

"What's wrong with boys?", asked Camber.

"Well, then you do it!", said Luna.

"Why me?"

"Because you're not afraid!"

"I'm afraid of getting caught!"

"I'll go," said Pearl.

"Well that settles it," Kathy said with a sigh.

Pearl snuck out of the door quietly, which was hard for her to do. She walked behind the cabin and toward the back door of the one next to it. She gently knocked on the door until Oran appeared to greet her.

"They're here," she whispered.

"We know," he said. "But we were wondering, what exactly DID they get out of the lodge? And I'm guessing your counselor left too?"

"Yep, we were wondering the same thing."

"Also," he added. "In case of emergency, can we set up sleeping bags in your cabin? You know, if they try to murder us, we can stay with you guys."

"Sure. Give me your sleeping bag. I can carry them. Don't ask."

Everyone in the cabin handed their sleeping bags over, and she managed to cary all four of them at once. She then opened the door to head back to her cabin.

Halfway there, however, she was greeted by a terrible surprise. A flashlight had caught her! She squinted an looked towards it. Tori and Ben. Before she could react, Ben held up a crossbow with a water balloon attached to its tip. He then fired. Luckily, she managed to quickly think fast and dodge it in squid-form.

"They have a crossbow!", Pearl shouted.

Gasps could be heard from all four of the cabins, and even a few screams and tears. Pearl ran back to the boys' cabin since it was closer and she couldn't risk another second out there with those murderers.

"You okay?", Oran asked as she slammed the door out of breath.

"No," Pearl responded. "And I left your sleeping bags out there. I didn't have time to get em."

"I mean, at least you're not dead," said Penley. Pearl shot him an angry look. "Sorry."

"Uh, so, uh, um, is it, I mean, uh, do they, like, REALLY have a crossbow?", Landon stuttered. "I couldn't see what he was holding out the window.

"Yeah, it's a crossbow. Tried too kill me."

"Aren't you scared?"

"Neh. It was cool." Pearl dusted some dirt off of her night dress. "Also, I might need to stay here until someone gets help. Everyone in my cabin's a wimp, so they're not gonna do it."

"There's a walkie talkie right over there," Sora pointed out. "We might be able to use it to talk to the kids in other cabins. I think Keagan told me that there's one in every cabin and they only communicate with each other. There's a walkie in your cabin, right?"

"Yup."

"Good."

Sora got out of bed and grabbed the walkie talkie off the table. "Hello. This is Cabin 3. Over." He turned it off. "Let them take their time. I'll give it a minute or so."

A minute or so later, a message arrived back. "This is Cabin 1. We are currently safe. Over." "Hi guys, this is Cabin 4! Are you there, Pearl?"

Pearl grabbed the walkie from Sora. "Yo." She then handed it back to him.

"Oh my gosh we thought you were dead lol. Good thing you're doing okay! Over?"

"Good to know both of you are safe," said Sora. "But does anyone know about Cabin 2? This is Cabin 3 to Cabin 2. Cabin 2? Come in Cabin 2. Over."

"So sorry. We couldn't find where the walkie was. This is Cabin 2. Over."

"Uh, are we, like, stuck here?", Landon stuttered. "Like, all night? Even after all night? Are we ever gonna, uh, you know…"

"Know what?", asked Penley.

"Gonna… Uh, survive?"

Pearl shrugged. "Likely not, but hey, it's Thursday."

"What does the day of the week have to do with this?", wondered Oran.

"Friday is kinda just a conclusion day, right? We got to try a bunch of cool new things this week, like ink sports and grilled salmonids. We… had fun?"

"I mean, I guess, but I still don't wanna die at age eleven. Most inklings live to around one-hundred fifty"

"Fair. Man, I wish these walkies could dial 911."

"I'll ask the others if they know," said Sora. He turned the walkie on. "Does anyone know if you can call the police using these things? Cabin 3, over."

"This is Cabin 1. I don't believe you can do that on these. We could leave the village to get help, but we'll probably get caught leaving the cabins. Over."

"Uh hi, this is Cabin 4, and I really don't wanna die. Like, really really. I'm scared. This is scary. There's no way we're gonna make it out of this alive. We're all dead let's start confessing our sins. This is Luna, and I called a kid at school a bad word once." "This is Brooklyn and I shoplifted last winter." "This is Kathy and I hit my brother." "This is Camber and I have no idea why we are-" There was a scratching sound, and the walkie turned off. Screaming could then be heard from Cabin 4.

"What the…"

Pearl and the others ran to the window. A flashlight approached the cabin, and the screaming got louder, and louder, it kept getting louder.

"We gotta run," Oran loudly whispered to the others. They nodded and snuck out to Cabin 1, guessing that the counselors would check Cabin 2 after their's. As they ran, it began to rain so they had to take shelter before they disintegrated, and someone had began to ring a bell from the lodge, which only made things scarier.

The group approached Cabin 1's door and started gently knocking. A taller boy opened the door for them. He was clearly thirteen, since he had patches of tan skin starting to appear while the rest of him was a blue-ish gray, his ink color. That was a sign of inkling puberty. He let the younger ones in and then closed the door as quietly as he could.

Just then, a message came through the walkie talkie in the cabin.

"Th-thi-this-This is- This is Cabin...f-four. Over."

"ARE YOU OKAY?! Cabin 2, over."

"Two of us are. Tori just broke into our cabin, but she didn't just kill us all like we thought. She just said something 'I'll take two of you, and if you go with me, the others will be unharmed'. Brooke and Camber volunteered. This is Luna by the way. Over."

Despite all of the chaos and horror, Pearl remained brave and strong like some sort of American hero. When creepy messages were sent through the walkies, she was brave. When flashlights shone outside and collided with lightning, she was brave. When screaming and tears were heard from another cabin, she was brave. When the cabin she was in was surrounded by flashlights and footsteps, she was a little nervous. When the door swung open and rain stung her skin as evil camp counselors demanded for five volenteers, she was fricking terrified.

"What brave squid will step forward," Ben demanded.

Four of the older kids raised his hand. Ben motioned for them to walk towards him. Slowly they did, shaking. Ben tied their arms back with an old tether ball rope, and then called for another volunteer. No one stepped forward.

"No one's volunteering, huh?", said Ben. No one responded. "Well, that's a shame, especially because we just turned off every respawn point at camp, heh. Still no one? How about you?"

Ben pointed at Oran. Oran started to tremble really hard, and then cry a little. When he didn't step forwards, Ben tried to grab him, but he slipped away from the crazy counselor in squid-form. Ben was furious. He got out his crossbow, aimed, and fired.

Pearl had lost her first friend because of a dumb summer camp prank.

And then she screamed. Loudly. The windows burst open and broken glass rained in on everyone. So did actual rain, but, like, not as much. Everyone closed their eyes and covered their ears and then, slowly, opened them. They all stared at Pearl.

Ben smirked. "Come here, little girl."

Pearl held her breath and walked towards the creepy dude with a crossbow. He gave her an evil looking smile, then grabbed her arms and tied them back.

"Thank you for your service," he told the remaining kids as they stared in horror. He propped up his extra large high tech umbrella made so that inklings don't die, then walked out with his hostages, whistling Separate Ways (Worlds Appart) by Journey. Human records and stuff had also been recovered by digging guys, and Journey was a cool band.

The group approached the lodge, where Tori was waiting with an polearm made of ice, which is solid H2O. Deadly. It was cold inside, probably to keep the polearm frozen.

"I see you caught another group?", she said.

"Yes," he responded. "But I had to sacrifice one life to get to this one." He nudged Pearl, who scowled at him.

"Like I care."

Both counselors began to laugh. Tori walked over to the new hostages, and then looked at Pearl dead in the eyes.

"I'm guessing you were the one who let out that scream?"

"Yeah."

"Who knew you could be so loud! Might as well be the loudest eleven-year-old I've ever encountered. That's supposed to be a compliment. Say thank you!"

"Uh, thanks. Yeah, I guess I kinda have a powerful voice or whatever…"

"Huh. Ben, take them to the bunker."

"Of course."

Ben led them to the area where the metal plate had been, but now there was a full door uncovered. Ben pushed them in, and then slammed the trap door.

End of chapter. I've had a few requests for chapters through Pearl or Marina's POV, so here ya go. Pearl's dumb backstory. After several chapters, I'm planning on making a Marina one to satisfy all of the basic Splatoon fans.
