Their new home
Happy asked for a oneshot of Snowing getting a new house. They insist on giving Emma a tour. She's extremely bored until they show Emma her room for when she wants to stay over. Emma feels very touched, especially since it's actually her style. She thought her mom might have made it frilly.
"So this is the new place, huh?" Emma said, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. In reality, she had been on late shifts for the last week and the last thing she needed was a full on tour of her parents' new house. She was happy for them, she really was, but it was going to take a lot of mental energy pretending that she didn't miss the loft apartment. That was the first place she found home, the place she found her family.
Emma listened as much as she could as her parents rambled on about the acres of space in the backyard and how her dad was planning on building a full on playground for Neal in there. How there were so many more plug sockets in here than the old place. They showed her all the decorating they'd been doing to make it perfect for them. Including little jokes about how it wasn't exactly a palace, but it was better.
"Ok, we saved this room to last." Snow said, clearly excited, as she paused in front of a closed door on the top floor.
"What's extra special about this room?" Emma asked. "Is it a playroom for Neal or something cute like that?" She asked. She thought through all the rooms she'd been shown so far, and couldn't think of anything that was missing.
"No, your brother's got enough toys in his nursery. This room isn't about him. Or us, for the matter." Charming placed his hand on the handle and swung the door open. Emma entered and found another bedroom.
"Oh," She said. "A guest room, cool." Emma didn't see what was so special about a guest room. Well, it was a nicer decoration, in Emma's mind, than her parents' room. Less frilly and no pastel colours. But it was still just a guest room. Her mother shook her head.
"No Em. Not a guest room. Your room." Emma looked at them both, confused. "We know you don't live with us anymore, but we never want you to feel like you can't come home. Of course we weren't going to get a home without a room for our daughter." Emma didn't know what to say, she was touched.
"You guys…" Emma said, hugging them both. "This was so kind of you, and so…me." Charming chuckled.
"Is that your way of saying that we made sure it was decorated to your taste?" He asked. Emma grinned.
"Well, it is less frills, which I appreciate." She admitted. Snow rolled her eyes playfully. She and her daughter may have completely different styles, but she was glad to have a little piece of Emma's style in their new home. It was the final piece in the puzzle of turning the house into a home.
