Wanting to blend in- part 2

CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2411 "Wanting to blend in" where Emma figures out how to use magic to transport herself. She gets caught poofing back into her room by her dad opening the door to her room. He's livid.

Emma tried her best to stop sneaking out, she really did. But royal life really just wasn't suiting her. She knew her parents were trying. They gave her designated safe zones that she could travel to unaccompanied, providing she at least told one of them where she was going, but even that was too restrictive for Emma. She needed to be able to go where she wanted, when she wanted. Surely her parents were overreacting to the threat of the Wicked Witch? Nobody had seen or heard from her in months. Not since she announced her plans that involved Emma's little sibling. Maybe she realised the baby was too well protected and gave up. Whatever, Emma wasn't scared of her.

It took her a good couple of months, but Emma eventually learned how to transport herself with her magic without giving herself whiplash. Not that she told either of her parents. No, this was her ticket to freedom. Now she could sneak in and out of the palace in seconds. She could go wherever she wanted in the whole realm and nobody would be any the wiser. This was exactly what Emma needed. That was until she found out. Not Emma's mother, the witch.

Emma had just transported herself to one of her favourite spots in the entire realm; a reclusive hillside with no villages around for miles. On horseback, it would take Emma hours to get there, so even when she was just disguising herself this place was too far away. Now she could come whenever she wanted. Emma thought she was alone here. She was wrong.

"Well mummy and daddy aren't going to be very pleased about this, are they?" A voice droned. Emma jumped around. Her smile faded. The Wicked Witch had found her.

"You're out of luck, witch, I'm here alone. My mother is at home in the palace, which I know is well enough protected that you can't get anywhere near. Back off." The Wicked Witch just smirked at Emma.

"Sweetheart, I'm well aware that you're here alone. Thus me telling you mummy and daddy won't be very pleased. Do try and keep up." The Wicked Witch stepped forward, unafraid of Emma forming a fireball in her hand. "But if they get word that I've got you and will only let you go if your mother comes alone to get you, I think I'll get what I want in the end." Fortunately for her, Emma saw the magic preventing cuff in Zelena's gloved hand just seconds before she tried to snap it onto Emma's wrist. Emma blasted the fireball at the Witch, knowing she'd deflect it. Emma was only using it as a distraction. Whilst the Wicked Witch was distracted, Emma transported herself home. That wasn't the time to fight her off and Emma knew it.

"Sorry Emma, I just need to check a couple of things with you…" Emma froze. As the cloud of smoke disappeared from around her, her father's figure became clear in her bedroom. He looked horrified.

"You learned how to teleport, didn't you?" He croaked. Emma nodded, knowing she was caught red handed. Charming ran a hand down his face. "Emma, do you realise how serious this is? Why didn't you tell us?! What if the Wicked Witch had found you?!" Charming paused, expecting Emma to try and reassure him that she wouldn't and that Emma would be fine. Her silence alarmed him. "Emma?" He asked. She remained silent. Charming approached her and made her look at him. "Did the Wicked Witch find you today?" He asked directly. Emma sighed.

"I got away before anything happened." Charming's jaw locked. He stepped back, pacing to remain calm.

"Are you alright? Did she hurt you?" He asked. Emma shook her head.

"No, I'm fine." She promised him.

"What did she want?"

"She knew I was using magic to get in and out. She wanted to take me and force mom to come and get me, but I was never going to let that happen…"

"We wouldn't have been able to stop it if something went wrong." Charming pointed out. Emma fell silent again, she knew she was in the wrong. "She could have done anything to you. What if you'd gotten hurt, Emma. Do you think your mom and I would have been ok with that? Then, yes, it could have meant your mom coming and the baby being at risk as well. Emma, this has to stop. I know you're struggling, but life is different here. The dangers are different and until your magic is strong enough you are not to leave this palace alone. I know you feel like we're treating you like a child, but if I have to do that to keep you safe then I will. Do you understand?"

"Yes." Emma responded quietly. Charming nodded briskly.

"I need some air." He said, quickly leaving the room. Emma didn't follow after him, she knew he had to cool off. She understood why. How could she have been so stupid?
