Upon their return, Jiro ran with Midoriya up to her room, in order to avoid letting any of her classmates get a word in or ask questions.
Midoriya didn't complain, especially since he knew that if he wasn't careful, he would probably blurt out something embarrassing or even mention what had happened when he met Mika.
Jiro shut the door, effectively ignoring the calls of her friends.
"Jiro, I know you and your boyfriend want some privacy, but how did your date go?!" Mina shouted.
Jiro knew Mina was teasing her, but the blush had still made itself visible on her face.
Jiro locked the door, hoping that no one would try to enter.
"Jiro." Midoriya said.
Jiro turned to look at Midoriya, surprised that he wasn't freaking out about Mina's accusation.
"Are you okay?" Midoriya asked.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm just not in the mood to have to deal with that right now." Jiro said.
Midoriya nodded in understanding before heading for the door.
"Where do you think you're going?" Jiro questioned.
"My room." Midoriya answered, in confusion.
"No you're not." Jiro said.
Jiro blocked the door and gestured for Midoriya to get back to sitting on the bed.
"I told you that I was going to help you be more confident and I meant it." Jiro said.
"Yeah, you mentioned music being able to help me." Midoriya said.
"Yes, we have to start with the basics, which means learning to control those habits you have, specifically your muttering." Jiro told him.
"Alright, but how can music help me?" Midoriya asked.
"Easy, you mostly speak what you think are your internal thoughts, but you also write them down." Jiro said.
"Writing songs is similar, only I'm able to separate my vocals from my thought process." Jiro told him.
"So, the trick I have to learn is how to separate the two of them?" Midoriya asked.
"Exactly." Jiro said, with a smile.
Jiro then put on music and pulled out her notebook, showing him the various songs she had come up with.
"They aren't exactly perfected yet, but I'm still working on them." Jiro said.
Midoriya read the lyrics, noticing a common theme.
"They aren't like her first song, these words make it seem like she feels unsure of something." Midoriya thought.
Midoriya looked up at her, worried he had said those things out loud, which he thankfully didn't.
Midoriya looked down at the notebook again, continuing to examine the lyrics.
"I'm going to test you." Jiro said.
"What do you mean?" Midoriya asked.
"Did you know that my quirk can counter Hagakure's since I can use sound waves to locate her?" Jiro asked.
"Really?" Midoriya asked.
From there, Midoriya was mumbling again, writing the information down in his notebook that he had on him.
It was only after Jiro snatched the book with one of her earphone jacks, that he realized what had happened.
"Do you see what I mean?" Jiro asked.
"You need to focus on internalizing these reactions." Jiro said.
"Okay, I guess I failed the first test, but I will get better." Midoriya said.
"Good, also, you might want to erase that stuff I said, I just made it up." Jiro said, with a smirk.
Later.
"Okay, I think you've had enough for today." Jiro said.
Midoriya had indeed had enough.
Throughout the day, Jiro would demonstrate her song writing process and show him an example.
Midoriya was surprised as he would witness Jiro writing down lyrics and a melody without even making a sound.
Midoriya was definitely still mumbling, but thanks to Jiro he did manage to shake the habit at least a few times.
Jiro would list off random facts about quirks, to which Midoriya would instantly start writing and talking.
His improvements were subtle, but they were there nonetheless.
By the end of their session, Midoriya was able to notice his mumbling as he was doing it and quiet down.
"It'll take awhile, but I have a feeling that you'll able to shake this habit if you keep this up." Jiro said.
"Thanks." Midoriya said.
"So, should we meet up at the same time, tomorrow?" Midoriya asked.
"If we did that, then you'd have to sleep in here again." Jiro teased him.
Midoriya blushed as he remembered what had happened that morning.
"Why did you have to bring that up?" Midoriya asked.
As Midoriya looked down, with a defeated expression, Jiro wrapped an arm around him.
"Because, you need to learn to be less shy as well." Jiro said.
Midoriya looked up at her, feeling slight relief from hearing about her reasons.
"Plus, it's just fun to mess with you." Jiro said.
