Elizabeth realizes her mistake and goes back, but she's too late. Sparrabeth. Takes place at the end of DMC. One-shot.
A/N: Hi! This is a short fanfic that I wrote because I was bored.
Since I haven't written anything for probably almost a year this might not be very good and I do need some training for sure
I love writing at the moment so I'm hoping to get better at and ofc please review and criticize if you see any errors or stuff that I should do better.
This is a different version, written by me, of the "death" of Jack at the end of DMC.
I do not own anything associated to the Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise.
Along with its captain.
It was bound to happen one day, she just wasn't ready for it to be today, even less for it to be her fault.
"Jack" she whispered, almost to herself, hot tears of sadness and of guilt falling on the deck of the ship. The sound of them falling was drowned by the sounds of the sea, by the waves and the wind, by the creaking of the entire ship as it struggled to stay afloat even longer.
She looked back one last time at the man handcuffed to the mast of his ship.
Captain Jack Sparrow. Captain of the Black Pearl.
His eyes met hers as she backed away, he didn't feel any anger, nor fear, just the deep dark hole of betrayal. Betrayed by the one he thought he loved, by the one he'd saved countless times, yet she was the one who had tricked him and she would be the cause of his death.
If there was any way that this didn't have to happen, Elizabeth would've taken the chance, but she had made her decision and nothing was going to change that.
Turning around and hurrying away, hoping that the guilt would fade and that she wouldn't change her mind unwillingly if she waited any longer, Elizabeth lowered herself down into the longboat as Will and Pintel held her steady in case she fell.
She sat down next to them, observing the crew, no more than six left of those who had been on the Pearl.
"Where's Jack?" Will stared at Elizabeth with a cold look of what seemed like… Anger mixed with unhappiness.
Did he know? Had he seen something and misunderstood it for something else?
Elizabeth looked at him a few seconds before replying.
"He elected to stay behind to give us a chance" she said quickly, so that they wouldn't notice she was lying.
Or maybe she was just trying to convince herself.
She didn't know what to think anymore.
The remaining of the crew looked up to the Black Pearl, Elizabeth stared at her feet and, before she was tempted to change her mind:
"Go!"
The Black Pearl was too far now, the tentacles of the Kraken could be seen on the ship's sides, raising higher and higher until the Pearl herself sunk underneath the sea's surface.
"The Pearl is gone… Along with its Captain" some member of the crew whispered, Elizabeth didn't care to see who it was.
She was staring at the dying Pearl, sunk.
She was thinking about Jack.
Again.
And then she jumped.
Out of nowhere, she jumped into the water, in direction of the Pearl.
Oh, she regretted stranding Jack there. She regretted tricking him. She regretted it all.
"Elizabeth!" she heard Will's voice over the overwhelming sound of the waves, over the sounds of the deep.
She ignored it. Looking at the place where the Pearl had been, just a few moments ago.
And there, underwater, in the distance.
She could see it.
The Kraken.
She swam back to the surface.
She was crying.
She didn't care.
She knew only one thing now,
Jack was…
Gone.
The End. (hope you enjoyed this short fic xx)
Edit: tysm Buckhunter for pointing out that mistake, i fixed it!
