**I don't own these characters, Just a fan wanting to tell a story**

"What?" Jamie said in disbelief.

"Does Eddie talk about her family much?" Sydney questioned.

"No, Eddie doesn't have a good relationship with her parents." Jamie answered

"Do you know the reason why?"

"Yeah, she doesn't have a good relationship with her parents for personal reasons." Jamie responded, cooly. What was Sydney trying to do?

"Her dad is a felon!" Sydney exclaimed.

"Yeah. I know that." Jamie answered, with a shrug. What made this "She's not what you think" worthy

Sydney seemed taken aback that Jamie knew. "Do you know why?"

"Yeah he had a massive Ponzi scheme and scammed thousands of dollars." Jamie answered

"And you are okay with this?" Sydney questioned.

"Yeah, Eddie is not her dad. I don't care what her dad did. She truly cares about people and wants to help people." Jamie explained.

"Did you know she was involved in a scandal with a bunch of frat boys during college?" Sydney asked.

"Yes, she's mentioned it." Jamie answered. "I don't really see where this is going Syd."

"And you're still okay with this." Sydney demanded

"Yes." Jamie said exasperatedly. "Did you really just come to try and convince me that my girlfriend is a horrible person?"

"No!" Sydney exclaimed. "I just want to make sure you know what you are getting into."

"I know what I'm getting into!" Jamie answered.

"Jamie! She could be using you to try and get her dad's sentence shorter." Sydney articulated.

Jamie looked at her dumbfounded. "Okay, hold up. Why are you even concerned about this? I shouldn't matter to you! You shouldn't care what's going on in my life."

"But I still want to look out for you Jamie." Sydney answered.

"No! You walked out of my life. You don't have a right to try and talk to me about my life." Jamie snapped.

"I'm still your friend Jamie, just want to make sure you don't make a mistake." Sydney tried to explain.

"What mistake is that? That I am happy with the woman I love, that I am happy that I have twins on the way." Jamie expressed.

"She might be using you." Sydney said.

"She's not." Jamie shot back.

"How do you know that for sure?" Sydney demanded.

"Because she's been my partner for four years, my life has been in her hands and every time she's come through. I will never think she is using me, because she believes what her Dad did was wrong and she's not going to use me to try and get him out of prison. How could I even help get her dad out of prison?"

"Your dad is the PC and he has connections. Are you really that blind Jamie? Also, you are a Reagan if she sleeps with you then she can climb the ladder faster."

"What are you trying to do Sydney?" Jamie sighed.

"What?"

"Why are you here?" Jamie said. "What do you want? Are you trying to somehow make me break up with Eddie?

"I want you to realize Eddie isn't good for you." Sydney said after a long pause. "I think I made a mistake when I walked out. I never got over you Jamie, ever. I'm still not. What we had was good, we could make it good again. I still love you Jamie."

"What? You're crazy. I am happy with my girlfriend and my twins. You left. I moved on." Jamie

"Do you even know if they are yours?" Sydney asked. She was angry now, he had dismissed her out of hand but she knew right away had gone too far.. Jamie fist clenched at his side.

"What?" Jamie demaded, his voice flat but shaking with anger.

"You admitted you guys didn't get together until after you found out she was pregnant are you positive the twins are even yours?" Syndy said, committing to her statement she wouldn't back down. "From what I've heard from your precinct, really anyone could be the father." Sydney shared.

"Get out." Jamie ordered.

"Jami-"

"Get OUT. You don't get to walk into my life to try and tear apart my relationship with my girlfriend. Just leave!" Jamie cried.

"Even after everything we had. You chose what she's told you instead of her reputation, her family-" Sydney exclaimed.

"Everything we had? We were idiots. You leaving was the best thing that happened to me. I got my life on track, when I was with you I was miserable. Yes. I chose Eddie, because she is honest, she is kind, she actually has integrity, unlike you. I am always going to choose Eddie. Over anything. Now get the hell out of my apartment." Jamie cried.

Sydney was quiet, she had never seen Jamie this angry. She turned on her heel and slammed the door once she left.

Jamie was seething with anger.

"Jamie…" Eddie said softly.

"I'm sorry Eddie I didn't mean to wake you with that." Jamie apologized from the kitchen.

"Jamie, come here."

"Edd-"

"Jamie. If you make me have to stand up from my comfortable spot on the couch, so help me I will kick your ass into tomorrow." Eddie threatened.

Jamie walked over to the living room where Eddie had sat up.

"How much of that did you hear?" Jamie asked.

"I woke up when she was talking about me using you to get my dad's sentence shorter." Eddie answered.

"I'm sorry it woke you." Jamie apologized.

"What the hell was she doing here?" Eddie asked.

"I don't know...she wanted me to see that you aren't good for me or some kind of crap."

"I heard what she said about the twins." Eddie said softly. "I swear Jamie, there is no way you're not the father. There was no one else after that night."

"I never doubted that Eddie. Never." Jamie assured.

"Why can't we just be happy? Why does everyone think I want to use you or that somehow we are going to be horrible together." Eddie said with shaky breath.

"I don't know," Jamie said, holding her close.

Response to a question in a review:

Physical therapy is hella expensive especially good physical therapists (I have had my fair share of appointments and medical bills). If insurance does not cover a particular physical therapist it can be very difficult to get care from that particular physical therapist due to how expensive it is per visit, plus other treatments. Even if it was a work-related injury, insurance can refuse the claim if they already have a physical therapist approved. So even on medical leave pay, Jamie still has many rent/bills/expenses he has to cover, plus his student loans adding in the cost of unplanned medical bills. Such as things that insurance didn't cover or getting another physical therapy opinion. I hope that cleared things up. I may be incorrect in my assumptions of these things but it was purely based on my own experience with hospitals and physical therapy clinics.
