*I don't own these characters, just a fan wanting to tell a story*

Jamie and Eddie were still in bed with the clock showing ten. The past week had been exhausting. Today was just a day for them.

"Can we just not go out into the world today?" Eddie asked.

" After yesterday. that sounds amazing." Jamie agreed, pulling her closer. They didn't have much time to themselves anymore. Eddie had been busy with the case and Jamie had been going to physical therapy three times a week. They had been passing like ships in the dark, but today they had nothing on the schedule, it was just them.

"I mean I can't blame her. You are a catch and she let you go." Eddie said resting her head on Jamie's shoulder.

"But you're the one for me, not her."

"I know." Eddie said with a smile. "Did you find another physical therapist?"

"I think I found one. Dr. Hason. He specializes in trauma injuries, I'm at least willing to give it a try. I'm gonna see if somehow insurance will cover it, but I'm pretty sure he's out of network which means it's going to cost an arm and a leg. Just for a consultation let alone treatment." Jamie sighed.

"We'll make it work." Eddie said. "Something else we need to talk about is. I have my next doctor's appointment for my leg, I'm moving pretty well now. My guess is I'm gonna get cleared for desk duty until I take time off for maternity leave."

"Oh. I hadn't thought about that…" Jamie said.

"My best guess is I'll be back at work on Monday."

"That's exciting Eddie!" Jamie exclaimed.

"Is it though? We talked about me maybe quitting the NYPD as well."

"Do you want to quit?"

"No..maybe...I don't know." Eddie sighed. "I mean it's just desk duty, maybe I should just stay and then save making the big decision for when after twins are born."

"If that's what you want to do, I'll support you."

"And who knows maybe I won't get cleared. Even though I'm only six months preagant, I'm huge. They might not even have a uniform my size." Eddie said with a small laugh. "Speaking of which, I have an appointment with my OBGYN on Friday. Will you be able to come to that?"

"I should be able to. I don't have any conflicting appointments."

"I need food…" Eddie groaned. "I don't want to get out of bed…"

"What do you want to eat?" Jamie asked.

"Eggs and bacon." Eddie answered.

Jamie started to get out of bed but Eddie grabbed his arm..

"No! I don't want you to leave."

"If you want food I have to leave."

"No...stay. Food can wait…" Eddie said.

"Eddie. You need food if you are hungry, you are growing two humans inside you. Let me go." Jamie said. Eddie reluctantly let go of his hand. He gave her a quick kiss, then he left the bedroom.

Eddie heard him bustling around in the kitchen. She didn't know what she had done to deserve Jamie. They had been through a lot in the past four months but they had kept it all together and overcame what life threw at them. There were days Eddie thought they wouldn't make it but then she would feel the twins move around and then she'd remember it wasn't just about them anymore.

Her phone started ringing.

"Who is calling me on a Tuesday morning?" Eddie sighed as she grabbed her phone off the table. The caller ID read "Kara Walsh".

"Hey Kara." Eddie said answering the call.

"Hey girl!" Kara greeted. "I'm not calling at a bad time am I?"

"No, I'm still in bed and Jamie is just making breakfast." Eddie responded.

"Wait. Jamie's there?" Kara asked.

"Um, yeah…" Eddie said, a little confused and then a look of pure shock adorned her face."Oh my God Kara! Please tell me I didn't not forget to tell you Jamie and I moved in together?"

"You guys did what?" Kara exclaimed. "Congratulations!'

"I am so sorry Kara. Life has just been so crazy the past couple months I have completely forgotten to call you." Eddie apologized.

"Sounds like we have a lot we will need to talk about." Kara remarked.

"I am so sorry Kara, we do. A lot has happened since I saw you last." Eddie explained.

"It's okay. I understand life has been rough, but you owe me big time, you can make it up to me over a bottle of wine and girl talk. Wait, you're pregnant, you can't drink. Damn it. Okay how about I'll bring wine for me and bring you ice cream." Kara stated.

"That would be great! I miss girl talk, I've been spending a lot of time with Jamie and his family, and while they are great, don't get me wrong, it's not the same." Eddie explained.

"Yeah, I completely understand." Kara agreed. "Anyway, I was just calling to make sure you hadn't fallen off the edge of the earth, no one at the 12th has really heard from you or Jamie in a few weeks and I said I'd call in and see how you are doing."

"We are doing okay. There are still some bad days. Jamie is healing and I'm...I'm six months pregnant with twins that have the Reagan spirit and have already started fighting in the womb." Eddie sighed.

"That sounds rough." Kara laughed.
