No need to rush
TimberlandWalking asked for a oneshot of *6x18 spoilers!* Emma going out to confront Charming after the slight fight at Granny's rather than Snow, leading to a father/daughter moment.
Charming walked out of the town hall as calmly as he could. Why wasn't Snow understanding? Emma deserved better than a quickly thrown together wedding in Granny's or the town hall. She deserved the best, and she deserved a wedding where she at least didn't have to worry about her own death. Before Charming got to the cruiser to go home, someone else left the town hall behind him.
"Not right now, please Snow." Charming pleaded. "I need to cool off."
"It's not mom." Charming stopped. He turned round to see a deeply concerned looking Emma. "What's going on, dad?" She asked him. Charming gestured towards the town hall.
"Emma, you don't really think the town hall or Granny's is good enough for your wedding, do you?" He asked her.
"I don't really think the location matters all that much." Emma said honestly. "At least not to Killian and me. I don't think it matters all that much to you either. Be straight with me, dad." Emma asked him. Charming sighed, putting his hands on his hips.
"Emma…when I married your mother, it was one of the best days of my life. Until the Evil Queen stormed in and ruined it all." Charming began to explain. "You've never had an easy life, and your mother and I were never there to help. The least we can do is give you a proper wedding day where all you've got to focus on is your life ahead of you. Not the Black Fairy, or Gideon, or anything else. When I walk you down the aisle, I don't want you to have anything less than a perfect day." Charming told her. Emma smiled at him.
"So you figure you're walking me down the aisle, huh?" Emma gently teased him. Charming's face fell, not catching the joke.
"Aren't I?" He asked. Emma felt guilty for him not catching the joke. She bridged the distance between them, taking one of his hands in hers.
"Of course you are." She assured him. "I wouldn't get married without you there by my side. But for that to happen, there needs to be a wedding." Emma reminded him. Charming sighed.
"I just don't see why we can't wait is all." He said. "I just want everything to be perfect for you." Emma smiled.
"It will be. I won't let them ruin our day. Killian and I love each other. They can't change that." Charming sighed, kissing the top of Emma's head.
"I guess so." He said. "But if you want to postpone the wedding for, you know, ever. I'd be ok with that too." Emma laughed. She knew her dad really had made his peace with Killian, that remark wasn't about her choice of groom.
"It was going to happen sometime." She said, grinning at him. Charming pulled Emma into a hug.
"True." He admitted. He just had hoped he might get a little longer before it did.
