Blankie

A guest asked for a oneshot of Charming takes a one year old Emma to breakfast at Granny's, but he forgets her blanket. She notices, but can't express with words. Charming thinks she's just being fussy until they get home and Snow asks where the blankie is. It is to be inspired by the knuffle bunny story.

"Come on princess, where are all your smiles, huh?" Charming asked his little girl. Emma just pouted at him pitifully in response. He had only just convinced her to stop screaming. Charming just didn't understand. Emma was normally a very happy little tot. She rarely cried, but today, she had been screaming practically non-stop since Charming had taken her out. He just didn't know what was wrong. Maybe she was coming down with something.

"Well hey there little Miss Emma." Red cooed as she came to take their orders. Normally Emma was all smiles for her auntie Red. Today though, she was less than pleased. "Aw pup, what's the matter?" Red asked her. Emma launched into a series of incoherent babbles which neither Charming nor Red understood. This just seemed to frustrate Emma who started to cry again.

"Aw princess, come on, no more tears." Charming pleaded with her, pulling Emma onto his lap where she curled up against his shirt and continued to sob. "Best make this a coffee to go, Red." Charming sighed. "I'm going to take Em home a little early from daddy/daughter date day." He said, feeling pretty bummed out. He hated it when his baby girl wasn't happy.

A few minutes later, Charming got his coffee from Red and began to carry Emma home. He just hoped she wasn't getting sick. Snow greeted them in the hall, also worried. Like Charming, she knew Emma wasn't grizzly very often.

"What's wrong, baby?" Snow cooed? "Have you tried giving her blankie? That normally settles her." Snow asked. Emma looked up at her mom.

"Ahh!" She shouted. Charming's eyes widened. Blankie. He knew something wasn't right!

"Um…I may have put blankie in the wash while Emma took a nap." Charming said. Now it was clear. Emma was in a bad mood because she didn't have her blankie. "I put the load in the dryer before we left. Hold on." Charming left Emma with her mommy and went to root through the washing. Sure enough, there was Emma's blankie. Charming brought it out to Emma. As soon as she saw it, she brought her hands up for it. Charming bent down, handing it to her. He relaxed, seeing her beautiful smile return. He pulled Emma into his arms, loving the way she snuggled in.

"Looks like you're her hero." Snow commented. Charming laughed.

"Always and forever."
