I wake up in the morning and the first thing I always see is you.

It was the first rays of the morning sun and the angry calling of seagulls that woke Diana from her peaceful slumber. She could feel the warm sand underneath her and the strong body that she was draped over.

"What a lovely dream. I wish I did not have to wake up. It feels like Kal is still pressed against me" She thought to herself, briefly reveling in that first moment of grogginess before the clarity was to overcome her. As the sleep cleared from her eyes and she stretched her limbs suddenly it all came rushing back to her.

"Kal and I made love last night..."

Diana was immediately hit with the erotic imagery of the previous night, being wrapped up in Kal's embrace, his flowing red cape wrapped around their intertwined forms, and the indescribable feeling of giving herself to the man she loved. She felt sore all over, but her skin seemed to glow with a deep warmth despite the shade from the small cave that they had sought rest in after a night that she would never forget.

"Oh thank you Aphrodite for such a wonderful evening"
She hugged her midsection, literally feeling her heart almost ready to jump out of her chest. She had initially felt that she could not love Kal anymore than she already did, but they kept surprising eachother.

It took Diana just that brief moment to realize that she might never be able to stop continuously falling deeper in love with Kal for the rest of their lives. She smiled to herself as she glanced over her shoulder to see that Kal was still completely out, sleeping deeper than she had ever seen him. She had done what not even some of the most powerful super-villains had been able to do, she had completely exhausted the Man of Steel.

Diana put her hand to her chin, tapping it lightly, thinking to herself if she should just cuddle up to him and continue to let him sleep. "No that won't work. I need him now". She reached up and slowly began running both hands through his hair as she began running kisses up his chest, softly giggling to herself as she saw goosebumps forming on the areas of skin she was touching with her lips.

Clark slowly began to stir, feeling the hands of Diana about his head, and her lips on his collarbone. "If this is how I wake up every day for the rest of my life, I will be the happiest man on Earth" He thought to himself as he felt the sleep clear and the clarity return. He had spend the night with Diana and they had made love several times over the course of what he was now sure had been the longest and most beautiful night of his life. The first time had been gentle, exploratory as their hands had roamed over eachother, floating around above the world, just enjoying the sensations that the other brought. When they had eventually ended up on the beach near Themyscira, the gentleness was far gone, both of them enraptured by the other, creating a seismic shock that rumbled through to the core of the planet. They had initially chosen not to take their passion to the beach of her homeland, feeling that they did not want to disturb the Amazons, and Diana was mortified at the possibility that her entire family might have heard their lovemaking. However, Clark was now absolutely sure that most of the planet had heard them.

"Last night was the best night of my life Diana" Clark said, causing Diana to momentarily stop and her face lit up with a smile that he was pretty sure made their little hideaway even brighter.

"Yes it truly was Kal" She responded, holding him tight to her, enjoying the feeling of being enveloped around him.

"I hope I did not hurt you..." Clark immediately trailed off, his concern for her well-being always evident to her. He watched as Diana sighed and continue to run her fingers through his hair.

"You did not hurt me Kal, it was wonderful. If anything I think I may have hurt you" Diana said, indicating several dark red scratches all over his body, from where her nails had nearly torn through his near-impenetrable skin.

"You gave it your best shot my love" Clark responded, allowing his hands to drift into the flowing hair of his beloved Amazon.

"Best shot? I think I may have to try harder next time. I think I will enjoy knowing that when you are back in your costume that behind that powerful shield on your chest are the marks left from a love-making session with Wonder Woman. I do not think you will ever be able to look at yourself in the mirror again knowing that that is a distinct possibility" Diana giggled, causing Clark to sigh, making her laugh even harder.

"You know I am not the only one with marks..." Clark trailed off, noting several red splotches on her upper chest and neck.

"I expect nothing less from the man I have deemed worthy of my affection" She said with an air of royal authority, causing Clark to nod in agreement.

"I aim to please your Highness" Clark rumbled, reaching down and pulling Diana further up his chest, wrapping his arms around her.

"I thought the Last Son of Krypton was too tired, that the Princess of the Amazons might have finally worn him out" Diana said, enjoying the feeling of Kal beneath her.

Clark smiled and before capturing her lips with his, pointing out to the rays of sunlight that were making their way into the cave, recharging his cells at an accelerated rate, and beginning to heal the red marks she had left all over his body.

"Let's see if I can wear you out again before the sun gets too high in the sky..." She responded, as Clark chuckled, noticing the look of a challenge in her eyes.

"You're on Princess..." And with that the conversation ceased as they both became lost in eachother yet again.

Elsewhere...Smallville

Martha Kent was up even before the cry of the rooster, just as it had been for years before she had even met Jonathan. It was part of what had made it so easy to adjust to the life that they were able to build for themselves here in Smallville.

She had found it difficult to fall back asleep after a small earthquake had woken her up in the night. Ever since her son had take on the mantle of Superman she always wondered when she felt the Earth shake if her son was in danger, as during his encounter with Doomsday she had felt the world literally quiver which each blow they had thrown at eachother.

Her line of thinking was interrupted by a brisk yet firm knock at her door. "Who could that be?" She wondered aloud, as the sun still had not even thought about coming up at this early point in the morning.

Martha opened the door to be greeted by a very-exhausted looking Queen Hippolyta. She noticed right away that the Amazonian ruler had been through some kind-of intense battle due to the red marks and dirt that still covered some areas of her skin, and that she was wearing a dress that was in absolute disarray. Martha had always known Hippolyta to be a very strong and prideful woman, not to mention the commanding air of royalty about her, and had never known her to even have a wrinkle in her flawless wardrobe, so to see her looking like she had gotten into a mud-fight in a dust-bowl was quite a surprising site.

"Oh heavens Polly, are you alright?!" Martha was considerably distressed, taking into account her appearance and seeming exhaustion, so she was even more surprised when the Queen's face broke out into one of the biggest grins she had ever seen.

"Never better Martha, never better" Hippolyta responded, causing Martha to eye the playful look in the Queen's eyes.

"Oh dear, what happened when my son got there?" Martha said, immediately causing Hippolyta to almost double-over with laughter.

"I think I better come in Martha, you're going to want to hear this" She responded, as Martha immediately escorted her into the living room.

A cup of fresh tea in her hands, and Hippolyta relayed to Martha everything that had occurred after Superman had landed on Themyscira. She went through how he had refused to step down and come back later, disobeyed her orders, how Diana came violently to his defence, and how they both had laid a battle royale against the Queen and the best of her Amazonian army. Martha remained silent while she relayed the story for the most part, only asking a clarifying question or two about the encounter. Hippolyta was surprised that when she finished relaying her story, Martha simply leaned back in her chair and took another sip of her own tea, like she had just been talking about the weather.

"I put the Amazon nation against your son Martha and you have nothing to say?" Hippolyta said, surprised at her seeming nonchalant attitude regarding it.

"To be honest Polly I'm surprised you did not go further. They've been dragging their feet for how many years? I certainly would have" Martha said, before breaking out into laughter, that was soon joined by Hippolyta, both women enjoying the exploits of their children.

Martha briefly assessed the situation she was in, having tea with the Queen of the Amazons, laughing with her like they were two pre-teen girlfriends. She briefly recalled the first time she had shown up at her door in Smallville years ago, quite to her surprise, tapping her foot in impatience, flanked by two menacing looking bodyguards, and how Hippolyta had angrily demanded, while still behind the closed door, that she did not appreciate the way her daughter looked at Martha's son and vice-versa. Martha briefly smiled to herself, remembering the baffled look on the Queen's face when the small white-haired woman had opened the door and greeted her. They had been quite firm with eachother regarding their children, and by the time that conversation had ended Hippolyta had been forced to admit that Superman could not be a barbaric monster with Martha as his mother. Several years, many visits, and endless conversations later, here they were, openly talking about the role the two of them had played in helping Diana and Clark come together.

"The things we do for our children" She thought to herself.

Hippolyta suddenly reddened in the face as her laughter briefly stopped, reminding herself that there was one more thing she had to relay to Martha.

"There's one other thing. You are aware of the earthquake that shook the Earth last night. We felt it much deeper on Themyscira as well..." She said, shifting uncomfortably in her chair.

"Yes I felt it here as well, do we know what it was?" Martha said, curious as to why she would bring it up.

"It was Diana and Clark" Hippolyta said, allowing a bemused tone to enter her voice, just waiting to see what Martha's reaction was.

Martha was momentarily puzzled as to how they could be responsible for such a global event. "Did they fight? Is everything okay?" She said, noticing that the Queen was now biting her lip and reddening even more, like she was containing an intense amount of laughter.

Hippolyta breathed very slowly, fearing she might lose control as she raised her left eyebrow, regarding Martha over her cup of tea.

"It seems we were right that they did have as much stored up passion as we surmised" She mumbled just loud enough for Martha to hear every word.

It took Martha less than two seconds to get the implication. "WHAT?! CLARK KENT!"

The two mothers' satisfied laughter echoed through the early morning Kansas breeze.

Elsewhere...Egypt

"So that blasted Princess and the Superman have finally come together. This could make things difficult" Ares commented, looking deep into the orb that stood before him. The preparations between Set and himself were briefly interrupted the previous night by an earthquake near Greece, that he eventually attributed to the coupling of the Amazon and her alien lover.

"Why do you concern yourself with the comings and goings of two insignificant beings?" Ares immediately froze and turned around, still terrified by the dark jackal god seated atop the black throne behind him. He was very sure that he would never not be uncomfortable in the presence of Set as not since he had been around his father had he ever felt such raw power, and to see it in the hands of evil incarnate was almost too much for him. Despite these fears, Ares now truly considered himself worth of his title as God of War, as in courting this dark spirit before him he had faced his fear and not run, and he would soon reap all the benefits.

"My Lord Set, the joining of the Amazon Princess and the Last Kryptonian is disturbing because of the potential future offspring that could be produced. An Amazonian immortal coupled with a being such as Superman could potentially rival any power that exists" Ares said, bowing deeply before the throne, only to find himself launched backward in a painful ball of electric-blue fire that smashed him into a nearby wall with a sickening crunch.

Before Ares could even begin to understand the unbelievable plain, a powerful clawed hand was around his throat holding him up against the rubble of the now-destroyed wall.

"What did you say about a Kryptonian?!" Ares felt himself wince as he could hear the murderous anger that had exploded into Set's voice, and he had to choose his next words carefully if he wanted to see his plans taken through to their end and not die prematurely here, just another countless victim of the Dark God's anger.

"The one I have spoken of, the strongest member of Earth's Justice League, he is an alien refugee from the planet Krypton, the one called Superman" Ares managed to choke out, watching as the soulless orbs that made up the Dark Lord's eyes flare with red fire, just before he released him, causing Ares to crumple to the floor, clutching his neck and gasping for air.

"That is who Superman is?! The Sun spirit? The Last Son of Krypton?!" Despite having just been released from his grip, Ares found himself moving further away along the wall, trying to put as much distance as possible between himself and Set. The heat coming off him was intense at a level that he had never felt before, as he looked down in surprise as the hair on his arms began to melt and burn away.

"Yes my Lord. Why does he concern you so much?" Ares questioned, briefly hoping that Set would not kill him for asking the obvious. Yet, Set surprised him and Ares watched as the heat subsided and he returned to his throne and slumped back in it, giving Ares the first glimpse that Set was not all powerful as there seemed to be things that concerned and maybe even scared him as well.

"When the planet Krypton exploded the Kryptonian God Rao in his last moments reached out to his Egyptian brother Ra, the King of the Gods and the most powerful of my order, and asked Ra to care for the last child of his planet. Sensing that the Kryptonian baby would draw power from Earth's sun as did the boy's father Jor-El, Ra made sure the alien craft landed where it was supposed to, and has kept watch over the child ever since. Ra has affection for this Superman as a godfather would" Set surmised, causing Ares to be rendered momentarily speechless.

"The Kryptonian is favoured by the King of the Egyptian Gods?!" Ares thought to himself in absolute disbelief. Just when he thought he had come up with the perfect plan in recruiting the Egyptian God of Chaos, he finds out that the man that has finally won the heart of the Amazon Princess just happens to be the godson of the most powerful of the Egyptian pantheon.

"So what does that mean for us Lord Set?" Ares wondered aloud, noting the change in the Dark God's posture, as he had returned to his cold and calculating self after being momentarily put off by the news that Superman would be involved in the coming battle.

"The Sun spirit may be favoured by the King of the Gods but Ra will not get involved in this battle, even for him. His concern for what the resurrection of my brother would bring is enough that he would not intervene. The Egyptian Gods do not get involved very often in the affairs of man as the Spirit world takes up much of our time. However, this does give us an unexpected pleasure for the upcoming battle" Set said, before his face broke out into a twisted and disgusting grin of sharpened fangs, causing Ares to momentarily shudder.

Ares was surprised that the manner of Set changed so quickly, having almost killed him in anger just moments ago. He was briefly reminded that Set was the God of Trickery and just as devious and cunning as Ares was, if not more so. He could see that a plan was already forming in his eyes. However, Ares would also be mindful and remember the connection between Superman and Ra. The knowledge that the two shared a connection could be a wild card, and he hated wild cards more than anything else. They were unpredictable.

"And what pleasure is that my Lord?" Ares questioned, causing Set to regard him thoughtfully before presenting his bony and clawed right fist, which briefly glowed a dark blue before he opened it. Ares' eyes widened in surprise as he saw that the Dark God had used his powers to fashion an elaborate dagger that shone with that all-familiar sickly hue of concentrated kryptonite.

"The pleasure of cutting out Superman's heart and presenting it to Ra as a gift after I have ripped Osiris' body apart all over again" Set said, holding the dagger tightly, and allowing his sickening laughter to echo through the chamber.

Ares smiled to himself, allowing his own laughter to join with that of the terrifying being in front of him. Everything was coming together perfectly. He would personally enjoy killing the Princess after she had witnessed her Amazon family slaughtered at his hands, but now that Set had vowed to destroy the Kryptonian, he would make sure that she lived long enough to see the still-beating heart of Superman in his blood-drenched grip.

Death comes soon for you Amazon and to all those you hold dear.

A/N: A bit of perspective from all sides. Up next, it's time to leave their getaway as Clark and Diana head to the Watchtower to plan a strategy...and answer a few questions.
