Chapter 22

After the appointment, Friday was pretty calm. They spent the night watching a movie, then they fell asleep. Olivia watched Amanda while she slept, thinking about how strong and brave she was. Amanda had been dropping hints about sex, she even mentioned it to Dr. Hanover, but Olivia wanted to take things slow. She certainly wasn't going to try anything right after therapy. On Saturday morning Olivia woke up first. When Amanda woke up to an empty bed she took a shower and got dressed. She wanted to spend the day with Liv, just the two of them. The therapy session yesterday was difficult and all she wanted was some time and affection with Olivia. Amanda was worried because Olivia didn't touch her at all last night. Olivia always hugged her, kissed her, and held her, but her biggest fear was that Olivia would look at her differently once she knew what happened that night.

She walked into the kitchen and saw Olivia on the phone and fixing breakfast. Olivia was still in her night clothes and her leggings were hugging all the right places. Amanda thought she looked hot. It was getting hard not to be physical with Olivia. Amanda needed it and she couldn't figure out why. Amanda had the day planned in her head. It was a nice day so she wanted to go to Central Park 1st then Times Square. She wanted to rent a bike and ride through the park during the day and shop and see Times Square at night. Olivia was on the phone talking to someone when she put Amanda's breakfast down in front of her, "Sure y'all come on over and we can all hang out together. I'll even call Melinda to join us. We can have a fun day together." Olivia hung up the phone, "Hey Alex and Casey are coming over and I figured I would call Melinda over too." Amanda pushed her plate away and she immediately got pissed, because Olivia made plans and didn't even ask her what she wanted. "Casey? Ms. Novak?" Olivia turned to look at Amanda, "Yeah they are dating. I didn't mention it before because you were in their school, but you aren't there anymore. Why aren't you eating?" Olivia pushed the plate back to Amanda, "I'm not really hungry. I didn't know we were hanging with them today. Kinda thought it would be just us." Olivia looked at Amanda, "Well we didn't have plans made and I already told them to come, so we can just hang out tomorrow. No big deal." Amanda's whole attitude changed, "Well, I don't want to hang out with your friends." Olivia sat down in front of her, "Amanda what's this about? You love Melinda. You and Alex I thought turned things around. I know you don't know Casey well, but she's cool. They are my friends, so it makes them your friends since we're together." Amanda shifted in her seat and looked down at her cold breakfast, "We're not really together. I mean we don't make plans alone and we definitely don't do things that people do when they're together." Olivia was shocked, "Amanda where the hell is this coming from? Is this about what happened yesterday? Talk to me instead of getting this pissy little attitude. We spent last night together, you didn't say one thing about wanting to do anything today. I thought spending the day out would be a good thing for us. And no I wasn't going to jump and have sex after everything you admitted yesterday. You need time." Amanda's face went white. Olivia stood up pacing mad at herself for losing her temper. She knew that this was a possibility, the triggers and she didn't handle it right. Amanda needed something, but she hurt Olivia when she said they weren't together. "I knew it", Amanda said. "I knew when I told you what happened to me, you would treat me differently. You think I need time, maybe I just need you to fuck me senseless." Olivia yelled back, "Why do you feel the need to talk like that. You know I can't stand it. I haven't been treating you differently, you're the one talking about we aren't together, like we're nothing to each other. So why should we plan to do anything?" Olivia needed to cool down, "Amanda why don't we both take a minute and calm down. I'll go take a shower and you finish eating. Amanda didn't even wait, "I'm not a baby and I don't have to eat. I don't have to do what you say. I am an adult you know." Olivia was furious, but calmly said, "Okay eat, don't eat, it's up to you. I'm going to take a shower. Would you like to talk when I'm done?" Amanda said, "Sure mom", in that sarcastic tone.

Olivia left to take her shower and get dressed, hoping Amanda would cool off. While Olivia was in the bathroom Amanda decided to split, no way was she spending the day with Liv's friends. Amanda left the apartment and just started walking to the subway. It was a nice day and she needed space and air. She looked on her google maps and headed for Central Park Zoo.

When Olivia finished her shower and got dressed, she checked her cell for any messages. She saw Melinda called her while she was in the shower. "Hey! I was going to call you. Alex and Casey are on the way over, we were going to ask you to join us. You know a fun day to hang out, we can all decide when we get together." Melinda said she would come over in a half an hour. Olivia went to the living room, hoping to find a much calmer Amanda. She found an empty apartment, uneaten cold breakfast, and no note about where she was. Olivia grabbed her phone and called Amanda, it rang then went to voicemail. "Amanda, I know you are mad, but I don't want you out in the city alone. Please come back so we can talk." Twenty minutes later Alex and Casey arrived, "Hey! You look good, life with Amanda must be great. Where is she?" Olivia didn't want to start the gossip, "She went for a walk, been working hard all week. She wanted fresh air, probably will catch up with us later." Melinda arrived about 5 minutes after them. Olivia gave the same excuse about Amanda, but deep down she was terrified. "I'm going to put on my shoes, you all decide the plan. Olivia didn't feel like doing anything, she just wanted to find Amanda. She called her again. It rang and went to voicemail. "Amanda! This is not funny. You left and I have know idea where you are. You don't have to come back, but please call me back." Olivia decided she would just keep calling, but this time it went straight to voicemail. Olivia had no choice but to wait and give her space.

Meanwhile, Amanda was walking to the zoo entrance of the park when she heard a familiar voice call her. "Hey Baby girl are you alone?" Amanda turned around, "Fin! I can't believe I ran into you here." Fin gave her a hug, "Where's Liv?" Amanda's face dropped, "We had an argument this morning, so I left." Fin looked around, "Amanda you left and are walking around by yourself. You don't know the city that well. Liv doesn't know where you are?" Amanda shook her head, "Fin, please don't tell her. I'm ok, I just needed to be alone." Fin squinted his eyes, "Are you going to the zoo?" Amanda shook her head yes. "Ok Amanda I tell you what. I will buy us tickets and lunch and you tell me what happened. I won't call or tell Liv yet. Deal?" Amanda looked at the zoo entrance, "Okay Fin." Fin bought the tickets and they started off on the walk.

Olivia, Alex, Casey, and Melinda decided on shopping and lunch. The day was very laid back, but Olivia was upset all day. She never showed it though, she didn't know what was going on with Amanda, but the last thing she wanted was her friends in their business. She started thinking that Amanda had a point, they were her friends and it didn't automatically make them Amanda's friends. She realized that Amanda didn't have any friends of her own, Olivia was it. She was still pissed though, Amanda said some really mean things, just left, didn't take her calls, and if they were going to be together, they both needed to work on communication. They got back to the apartment, Alex and Casey said their goodbyes and they were sorry they missed Amanda. Melinda on the other hand knew something was up. "So, want to tell me where Amanda really is?" Olivia looked at her phone, still no messages from Amanda. She went with the safe answer, not the truth, but not a lie. "Yesterday was a lot for her. I don't think she wanted to be around everyone. I probably should have hung out with just her." Melinda shook her head, "It's understandable, she's going to need support and patience. Just keep being her "Liv" and love on her even when she pisses you off. You two will be ok. Oh and Olivia, I'm not going to ask what happened to her, because it's none of my business unless she tells me, but start to love on her. She's 19 and her hormones are all over the place. I see the way she looks at you.Take it slow but not too slow if you know what I mean" Melinda gave her a big hug. Olivia took a shower and could only wait for Amanda to come back home.

Fin and Amanda walked out of the zoo entrance. They spent the day walking, talking, and enjoying the animals. Fin told Amanda about Olivia's life. He had worked with her a long time, but he explained that they just became partners, "Her other partner, Elliot, just up and left her. He shot a kid and just couldn't do the job anymore. It really hurt her, but it was almost fate. When we saw you in the coffee shop, she was so down it was her first week without him. You put a smile on her face again." He told her about some of her past relationships that didn't work out. Amanda was curious, "Fin has she dated guys and girls?" Fin shook his head, "she's dated both, but none really that serious though. She's married to the job, well before you came along anyway. I've never even seen her take off of work before." Fin looked at Amanda "So Baby girl, what's the plan? I haven't called or texted Liv, but I'm sure she's worried. Are you ready to go home?" Amanda sat on a bench nearby, "Fin I was mean and I don't know why. Then on top of that, I left and ignored her calls. Maybe she doesn't want me to come back." Fin looked at Amanda, "I doubt that, but if you're worried I can call and feel her out." Amanda stood up, "No Fin. I did what I did and said what I said, I will face her myself. Will you walk me home? Hey maybe if she sees I've been with you it will save my ass." Fin fell out laughing, "Oh Amanda you're brave, but you pissed her off, your ass is grass baby. Come on let's go."

Fin and Amanda stood in front of Olivia's door, but before she could put her key in, the door opened. "Get in here now! I can't believe you did that this morning. I don't care how mad you are Amanda, talk to me, yell, scream, cry, but don't you ever disappear. I don't deserve that at all. Where the hell have you been?" Amanda was hoping having Fin with her would save her some, but nope. Amanda did all that talking this morning, so she figured she better talk now, "I went to Central Park zoo, just happened to run into Fin. He stayed with me after I told him we had an argument." Olivia looked at Fin, "Thank you for staying with her and keeping her safe, but you should have called me." Olivia turned around walking to the couch. "Great thanks Amanda, guess you didn't want to be in the doghouse alone. Liv, I'll see you Monday morning. Goodnight girls." Amanda looked to the couch to see a very pissed Olivia, time to face the music.
