Fallout New Vegas: Chronicles of the Legion's Regime
Interactions with Six
Now that Caesar has instructed his officers to get closer to the Courier, they will try in different ways.
First was Lanius.
The Legate and the Monster of the East was waiting on Cottonwood Cove watching the Courier and that big blue monster of hers having a conversation. He lost his patience and finally approached the Courier.
His thoughts of her were neutral but respect grew as she was spearheading the assault on Hoover Dam. He respected her and her brother for their combat capabilities plus their intelligence in and out of the battlefield.
He wondered if it was even possible to have her as a wife though it was common knowledge that Six has two girlfriends. Still, she has proven herself to be strong and would make a fine woman for him.
"...we can continue this later grandma, the Legate is here." Six seemed to finishing the conversation. "For now, I need you to ask Keene to send his Nightkin to scout out the surrounding areas surrounding Jacobstown for any NCR activity. If there's any, talk to me right away."
"Of course, deary." The Nightkin said as she activated her Stealth Boy.
"Something I can do you for you?" The Courier asked.
Lanius lost concentration for a moment staring at her red dress emphasizing her body before replying. "There's a Fire Gecko nest at Fire Root Cavern. Claim their hides with me."
Six shrugged and replied. "So be it. It's a good thing I have some free time. Lead on."
Lanius always knew that Six is no stranger to battle.
They entered Fire Root Cavern where Six activated her dual Lightsabers to provide light. It attracted the Fire Geckos to them which they slaughtered which ease. On their way to the top stood a Legendary Fire Gecko.
"All yours Lanius. I'll cover you while you fight that Legendary creature." Six said as she sidestepped a Fire Gecko and decapitated it's head with her Red Lightsaber.
Lanius charged at the Legendary Fire Gecko intent on ramming his blade at it. But the Gecko grabbed and managed to push it back. Lanius head butted it and impaled it's arm. The Gecko cried in pain before slashing his back, Lanius ignored it and pulled out his blade to ram it to his belly. He succeeded but the Gecko started using its Fire breath at him burning him. Lanius however was relentless as he continued pushing it to a wall and he felt the Fire Gecko trying to claw his face off.
Good thing he had a helmet on.
Lanius pulled his blade back again and dodged the swipe it's claw but Lanius evaded it and decapitated it for good.
Lanius saw Six finishing a third Fire Gecko with her Orange Lightsaber and she turned to look at him.
"So you took down a Legendary Fire Gecko? Very impressive." Six commented. But she mumbled to herself. "But I killed all the Legendary creatures even a Bloatfly."
Lanius didn't hear her mumble and said. "We need to return to the Fort."
Six nodded then they made their way to Cottonwood Cover where they saw the Nightkin waiting for them.
"Deary, bad bear people started shooting at the lodge and scaring our Bighorners. Marcus is afraid that if we attack, bear people will fight back but Keene wants to kill them." Lily reported.
Six frowned then replied. "Tell the mutants to stay in Jacobstown Lily. I'll handle it myself."
"I'll tell them deary. Please hurry to Jacobstown." Lily said before disappearing.
Six turned to the Legate then said. "In case you didn't understand, my Nightkin companion told me that the NCR is 'attacking' Jacobstown by provoking the mutants to a fight, giving them the excuse they needed. I intend to kill them and prevent them from destroying Jacobstown. Want to come along?"
Lanius replied. "I shall Courier. I am willing to spill more blood from the Bear for the glory of the Legion."
Six smiled under her bonnet then declared. "Then let's get moving."
They traveled all the way on the road to Novac where Lanius stopped to kill a pack Brahman simply because it is in his way.
Six sharply called out to Lanius. "We need to talk about what you did. Right now." She made it into a demand.
Lanius looked at her. "Is there a problem?"
Six shook her head. "Not yet. Just a friendly warning." She said. "Look, I understand that the Legion is ruthless I won't deny that but that doesn't mean you can go out and kill something just because it's in your way. Who knows if that something is a friend or foe?"
Lanius asked. "Why do you care? You're a part of the Legion. Killing is in your blood."
Six replied. "That's true but I don't kill for the thrill of it. And I care because that Brahmin you killed is a Cassidy-Barton Caravan one. And one of it's founder is my friend and she won't be thrilled if she found out one of her Brahmins is dead and not because of some raider."
"What do you suggest I do?" Lanius asked with a raised eyebrow.
"All is ask is that you watch who you're killing. The last thing I need is my friends blaming me for killing their friends just because you couldn't contain your bloodlust."
Lanius said. "I'll see what I can do."
Six said in a semi-pleading tone. "That's all that I ask. I'm not trying to run your life, that's your decision but just aim your bloodlust at our enemies."
Lanius decided to end the conversation. "We should keep moving."
Six seconded. "Let's. But I'll make this one thing clear: I will avoid telling Cass about what you've done for now but if you kill another one of her pack Brahmins, you'll have to answer to her." Lanius just snorted under his mask.
They arrived at near Jacobstown where Marcus explained. "Lily must have found you. I'll be brief and precise: a bunch of NCR soldiers are shooting at us claiming that we're a part of the Legion, though we told them that we're independent, it only angered them more. I know that the Legion is occupying the Mojave now so please kill them and away from Jacobstown so that we won't be implicated."
Six nodded. "We'll take care of them."
Marcus said. "Thanks."
Lanius and Six went to south and then to one of the ranger stations where the smoke clearly signals that it is occupied.
Six is looking through the scope of her Anti-Material Rifle as she mused. "Mostly troopers. If there's rangers, we'd be in trouble. I guess the Rangers did secede from the Republic after all."
Lanius seconded. "Then this should be easy. Let bloodshed commence."
They charged at the camp and the troopers were ill-prepared to face the two Legionnaires as they were slaughtered systematically. Lanius saw one troopers tried to shoot at Six but he quickly decapitated the man. Six repaid the favor by throwing her Orange Lightsaber at another trooper aiming at Lanius.
Six said. "Now that we've killed them all. We should head back to Jacobstown. After that, we can go back to Cottonwood Cove."
Lanius nodded and followed Six back to Jacobstown where the mutant Marcus expressed relief that the problem has been taken care of expressed thanks. They traveled back to Cottonwood Cove where Lanius boarded the boat heading to the Fort.
"You have my thanks in assisting me against the NCR Legate Lanius. And thanks for taking down that Legendary Fire Gecko. I am honored to fight beside you." Six said.
"I find you equally worthy." Lanius replied with genuine respect.
"Your words do me great honor Lanius. Farewell, I will be going back to the Lucky 38 now."
He bid her goodbye and mused as he thought about her on the way to the Fort. He is aware that the others might try to get close to the Courier but he will give them some competition.
Her activities outside of the Legion are not his concern but as long as they align in its interests, he could care less.
The next is Antony who gave Six a young Legion Mongrel as a present. Six thanked him and gave it to Rex who treated it as a brother of sorts.
For Lucius, he decided to try and improve her combat skills if they can be improved. He just witnessed Six having a sparring match with her girlfriends and although they can give any Centurion a run for their money, Six is clearly the superior fighter.
ZZSSIING!
"Dead." Six deadpanned as she slashed Christine's throat with her Red Lightsaber. Had it been at full power, it would have beheaded her.
ZZSSIIINNG!
"And dead." Six deadpanned again as she slashed Veronica's extended right arm, followed by a kick to the chest, knocking her to the ground.
"We almost had you that time!" Veronica complained.
Six only smirked. "Maybe next time."
Lucius decided to make his appearance as he went down from the tent to the arena. "I'd like to make a proposition."
"What is it?" Six asked.
"I'd wish to teach you an Unarmed technique that is useful for offensive assaults."
Six only shook her head. "A good proposition but I won't use it as I don't usually use Unarmed weaponry." But she pointed at Veronica. "But I believe my girlfriend her can make use of it."
Lucius raised an eyebrow as he looked at Veronica as she stood up. "You don't look like much. What can you offer me in return?"
Veronica laughed and said. "I'm great at punching people. It's a gift. Plus I can teach you a move that scribes use without their weapons if you teach me that move of yours."
Lucius nodded at the trade and asked. "So...we teach each other techniques then?"
Veronica beamed and said. "Yup."
Lucius replied. "Very well. Meet me at the tent but beware that I am not a forgiving teacher and it will take some time." Then he looked at Six. "If it's possible, I'd like to see you square off against your two girlfriends again and once that's done, we can go by the lake so I can get some insight from you."
Six nodded. "Very well."
Lucius did indeed train Veronica with Legion Assault and she returned the favor by teaching him Scribe Counter. Lucius decided to watch as Six spars with her girlfriends. Mercedes was nearby and she asked to borrow his Green Polesaber which he agreed. Six gave Veronica her Orange Lightsaber and Christine her Red Lightsaber.
Six and her girlfriends square off. Despite their inexperience in using such weapons, Christine and Veronica attacked Six who parried them with her brother's Polesaber. The two managed to hit one part of her Polesaber but she expertly dodged and parried their strikes.
They backed away for a while and when they saw Six readied her Polesaber and prepared herself, they nodded to each other and threw their Lightsabers at Six who deflected them. Christine dual wielded the Lightsabers and swing at Six who parried them again and Christine purposely tossed the Orange Lightsaber in the air for Veronica to grab it and made a downward strike at Six who dodged it.
Christine and Veronica took turns attacking Six and didn't succeed in hitting her as she parried and dodged. Veronica tried run Six with her Lightsaber but Six evaded it. Christine only struck the upper part of her Polesaber and Veronica tried a downward slash which Six dodged. Christine tried to make a horizontal swing but Six countered by turning off her Polesaber and it made her hit Veronica who managed to keep her Lightsaber to prevent that. Christine got her Lightsaber back and continued attacking Six.
Six parried Veronica's attacks and Christine's. She countered Veronica's attack by making her accidentally hit Christine's Lightsaber, disarming her.
Christine tried to help her girlfriend by wrestling control of the Polesaber from Six. A struggle ensued and in the process Veronica made a critical mistake by running her Lightsaber underneath the two strugglers and Six capitalized that by kicking the handle, making the plasma tip accidentally slice Christine and putting her out of the fight. (None of the Lightsabers are in full power so they'll live.)
Seeing Christine fall to the ground made Veronica very angry. Six managed to hide her smirk as she turned her back on her angry girlfriend and when she felt Veronica charge at her, she reacted.
Another fight happened and this time Six is on the offense. They scuffled for a while but it seems that Six is on the upper hand as she attacks Veronica and when they are close, Six dodged Veronica's attack and when she overextended her reach, Six brought down her handle and Veronica cried out in pain and she quickly slashed her head in one fell swoop. Six won.
Veronica and Christine got up shortly after that and gave Six back her Lightsabers while she gave her brother back her Polesaber.
Lucius just spectated and when all of that is over, he commented. "An impressive show. I admit that those moves looked to be graceful and fluid which kept me watching the entire match. I now wish to walk with you by the lake."
Six ordered her girlfriends. "Go wait for me outside of Cottonwood Cove, at the Sniper's Nest." They both nodded and left.
Six and Lucius walked alongside the beach as Six said. "The lake is lovely this time of year."
Lucius commented. "It surprises me on how little we know about you Courier. You have always been skilled in combat but you never mentioned your origins."
Six sighed as she pulled down her bonnet to cover her face as she explained. "I'd like to say that my brother and I came from the west though sadly that is all I remember following my headshot from Benny. All I remember was my Lightsabers and I knew how to fight but most of it is self-taught." She put her bonnet back to the top of her head as she explained to the Praetorian. "I have seen and witnessed things that you don't believe that existed and learned some hard truth in them and not in the kindest of ways."
Lucius raised an eyebrow at that and asked. "What sorts of things?"
Six shrugged and answered. "The kind that Caesar heavily frowns upon and doesn't care to believe that they existed. I have survived them all and that what's made me stronger in a sense."
Lucius nodded and said. "I see. You have proven yourself to be indeed a strong woman Courier. You have set in motion the waves whose tides have turned into our favor in a way that not even our finest are capable of."
Six held the Platinum Chip in her right hand and replied. "Once I've set my mind upon something I do it. This chip in my hand has been my goal and others after that."
Lucius said. "Your deeds are indeed worthy of notice and when we begin moving to California, I expect we have need of your talents."
Six surprisingly didn't agree to that as she commented. "My brother wouldn't like that even if he isn't part of the Republic."
"Oh? Why is that?"
"Ask him about it. He's been with the Republic longer than I have."
"Out of curiosity.."Lucius said. "Just how good is your brother in combat."
"Fairly decent. He can still beat me nine out of ten times and that one time is purely luck."
"I see. I know that he is reading my Lord Caesar's books with that odd technique of his since he's blind. Nevertheless, you two are interesting people."
They spoke of their deeds further, tales coloring the conversation following up from the battle of Hoover Dam and beyond. Lucius thanked her for the time and left for the boat.
Of course Lucius mused that Lanius played upon the her use for bloodshed, Antony gave her a tangible gift but he had shown that he respected her not as a woman wearing a slave collar but as a person. That, he can count on.
There's also Silus though his feelings for her are not romantic. When Veronica discovered some files within the OSI office of Camp McCarran, he volunteered to have his troops go to that research outpost which is underground of the Devil's Throat. Six came in with his troops, her floating eye of a machine. A few hours later, Six emerged out of there alive with a grim look on her face along with the Legionnaires who looked haunted. When Silus made his inquiry, Six shook her head and merely told him that it was destroyed. He trusted her judgement enough not to question it further.
Aurelius of Phoenix and a Centurion tried their hand in pleasing the Courier by entering the Divide to seize whatever technologies within it without asking her and unheeding of her and Ulysses' warnings. Needless to say that he ended up unleashing its horrors in the form of Tunnelers. He sent a messenger to inform Six and tell her to assist them and...
"Aurelius! Maximus! Do you realize what your actions have cost me? I have spent months in preparing a meeting between the other factions into a four way agreement. Now I have to postpone it because of you." An angered Six is heard through ED-E.
"We will fix this Courier. We only thought it wise to inform you of the threat." The Centurion tried to explain.
Six wasn't impressed as she said. "'You thought it wise?' The horrors of the Divide are not meant for Legionnaires to explore! You have no idea what you've unleashed. If we don't send in every Legionnaire to contain this threat, everything we worked for will be all for nothing."
Aurelius confidently said. "Our flash bangs are turning the tide of battle to our favor Six. We will fix this, you have our word."
"I need more than your words Aurelius. I'm on my way."
Despite casualties from both their squads against the Tunnelers, they pushed them back into the Divide and wiped out the rest. Six arrived with Ulysses and ED-E as her companions.
"I told you NOT to go inside." Six droned first as a Tunneler tried to lunge at her, only that she caught it without looking and crushed its head. "For good reason!" She spat, throwing the dead Tunneler at Aurelius feet.
"Secure the Canyon Wreckage. Clean up your mess. I'll be waiting for you when you are done." Six said to Aurelius who refused to look at her.
And when all of that is said and done, let's just say that Ulysses beat them up with Old Glory while Six gave them a nasty tongue lashing worthy of Caesar himself minus the cursing. Aurelius would make sure to ask Six for advice next time.
For Vulpes, he likes to wait until something is of interest to him and he trailed the Courier around wanting to understand her better. He saw her meeting up with Christine at the Followers Outpost.
"As you may know, the four-way agreement between the Followers of the Apocalypse, the Great Kahns, the Brotherhood of Steel and Cassidy-Barton Caravans have been signed and they each have brought me a copy of that agreement for contingency purposes. Now I must find a way to make sure those groups are self-sufficient." Six said.
She continued. "During my conversation with Elijah, I discovered that the technology within the Sierra Madre can be used for good. He even said that the Sierra Madre has the tools and the power to make or break nations."
Christine's eyes frowned then suddenly went wide as she said. "The holograms!" Six nodded and she continued. "The vending machines!" Six nodded again and Christine continued. "The Cloud!"
"To preserve any and all objects. What else?"
"The Auto-Docs!" Christine said that without stuttering. Mercedes' influence proved to be a positive one.
Six nodded. "Indeed. They are bored out of their skulls in that toxic dead city. The Followers of the Apocalypse can use them to cure people of injuries and ailments as a countermeasure to the amount of people coming to them for treatment. The Brotherhood of Steel can install these holographic projectors into certain areas for protection. As Elijah would say, 'it's like holding a light bulb on your hand, you can't stop it. Only see it burn.'"
Christine's eyes narrowed. "Why do you admire Elijah so much?"
"I admit I mentioned him a lot but if there's anything I know about him, it's that he's all things but a liar isn't one of them. He rambled on about the potential of the Sierra Madre and I admit that he is right. Problem is is that he intends to 'wipe the slate of the Mojave clean' by sending the Cloud to route the NCR and the Legion the settle in Helios One to 'begin again.'"
Christine nodded in understanding. "What would you have me do?"
"You will ask Yes Man to bring you a small army of Securitrons to bring with you when you enter the Sierra Madre. Have them cart off Auto-Docs to the Old Mormon Fort and have them tell Julie Farkas that they are a gift from me. As for the holographic projectors, find some schematics or at least bring one with you when you leave and deliver it to Doctor Klein at Hidden Valley. He'll recognize either one because it's Big Mountain tech. Tell him that the projectors belong to the Brotherhood now."
"Understood."
Seeing Christine leave, Vulpes decided to make his appearance. "You are very knowledgeable and resourceful Courier."
"Spare me the flattery Vulpes, I know you were eavesdropping."
"Oh? You look to be staring at a distance to New Vegas."
"I was. I felt your presence behind us but I didn't mention anything. Just so you know, I am presenting two factions with very important gifts to aid them in their goals."
"You are giving them gifts to cement their loyalty to you? I must admit this tactic is rather admirable. I have seen that most factions allied with us solely because of you. May I ask where this Sierra Madre is?"
"I won't tell you but if you wish to see for yourself, trail Christine but I'm warning you: I will not be held responsible if you die by the terrors inside the Sierra Madre. I know I sent Christine there but that place gives me the creeps."
"I never realized that you were scared of anything. I know that you care capable of making the coldest and the most calculating of plans."
"They say a man never really knows himself until his freedom's been taken away. My life was hanging by an explosive collar to the neck. It was a scary experience and that's all I have to say."
"Very well. I will not pry any further as your personal life is not my concern. Still, I wish to trail this Christine to this Sierra Madre place and see if I can use them for the benefit of the Legion."
When Vulpes left, Six made a weak chuckle and commented to herself. "Going to the Sierra Madre Vulpes? You're going to wish you hadn't." She failed to mention the 37 Gold Bars she acquired from the Sierra Madre Vault.
Vulpes did indeed trail Christine and her army of Securitrons to the abandoned BOS bunker and they made it inside the Sierra Madre. That place is unnerving and thanks to his years of experience within the Legion that he didn't give in to fear inside the place. He tried fighting the Ghost People but he realized through bitter experience that the only way to permanently kill them is to decapitate them. Not to mention the holograms as they are impervious to any attacks but he figured out that the projectors are its weakness.
After seeing Christine had Securitrons cart the Auto-Docs and bringing a projector with her, he concluded that the Sierra Madre had nothing of value to the Legion.
Vulpes knew that Six can be sharp in both mind and body and respected that.
