Fallout New Vegas: Chronicles of the Legion's Regime Legion Wars

Even though the NCR has been routed back West, they have been keeping an eye on the Mojave. They've been trying to take back the ranger stations abandoned by the rangers when they seceded from the NCR. They have been attacking the local settlements but the towns are well armed and pushed them back.

Meanwhile back at the Fort, Six accompanied by her Companion Cass are currently in a discussion with Caesar and his lieutenants.

Vulpes said while he had a servant bring him some papers. "My agents have detected several NCR outposts all across the Mojave and they have occupied the abandoned ranger stations with the exception of Alpha." He said the last part while glancing at Six who he knew was responsible for such a devastating action.

While Arcade tended to an injured Veronica, Six ordered Ulysses to gather NCR Marked Men, arm them with Red Glares and meet her at Alpha. When Six showed her presence to the rangers, they didn't notice that they were surrounded by Marked Men. The Marked Men fired their incendiary and high explosive rockets at the unaware rangers and destroyed everything, even the tower and the equipment.

There were no survivors.

Aurelius of Phoenix said. "Lord Caesar, my forces report that the Profligates are using their heavy troopers to hit the settlements. They are sending messengers to ask us for help."

Caesar turned to the Courier who have been silent. "Your task is to eliminate the Profligates by any means necessary. We can not afford to lose our influence and foothold of them to the NCR."

Aurelius added. "We discovered that the Profligates' staging point is at Horowitz farmstead and they have taken control of the Bitter Springs refugee camp and turned it into a stronghold. They have also taken Red Rock Canyon as their secondary base. There is also a small base at the Raided Farmstead and attacking our base at Camp Searchlight."

Six nodded, taking this all in then mused to herself and to the Legion lieutenants. "If those NCR troopers bring in their heavy weapons and power armor, they're going to hammer us." Six looked over her shoulder at Cass. "Cass, tell Raul and his smiths to use the schematics to create Armor Piercing rounds. If those rounds can penetrate through that Damage Threshold, we might just have a chance in pulling this off."

Cass replied immediately. "You got it cowgirl. I'll have the old man and his smiths build up bulk rounds for them so the Legionnaires can use them."

Two days later...

With Cassidy-Barton Caravans sending bulk packages of Armor-Piercing to Lanius' troops who insisted that they get those for free but it was only through threat of mentioning of the Courier Six that they back down much to their displeasure.

The Brotherhood of Steel were contacted by Veronica and they lent aid to the Legionnaires but on a condition spoken by Head Paladin Hardin.

"We Paladins of the Brotherhood of Steel will aid you in your battle against the NCR but if we come across the heavy troopers' power armor, they are ours for our use."

The Legionnaires agreed as they didn't care about Power Armor.

The Great Kahns agreed to be their allies too but in exchange for Bitter Springs which they easily agreed. Oscar Velasco said his reasons with Melissa beside him.

"That place has been the home of the Great Kahns before that wretched massacre happened. That 'refugee camp' was the home of our people and my family and we will take it back. Papa Kahn appreciates our honorary Kahn for giving us Camp Golf to settle in but we still want to go back to our home of Bitter Springs."

Some members of the Great Kahns led by Oscar Velasco and Melissa settled down Bitter Springs after Lanius' wiped the NCR contingent out with Papa Kahn's blessings.

As for the Brotherhood, they looted the Power Armor off and extended their thanks to Six and Lanius.

Courier Six and her companions Christine and Veronica attacked the ranger outposts while Ulysses and Lily attacked Raided Farmstead. Both were successful.

Aurelius of Phoenix attacked the Horowitz Farmstead and suffered minor casualties in return of a devastating one.

Silus attacked Red Rock Canyon with the assistance of Ulysses who gave his squad flash bangs and Auto-inject Stimpaks which proved helpful against the sharpshooters and while they suffered no casualties, there were plenty of wounded. The NCR garrison were wiped out to the last man.

Arcade and a handful of Followers aided the wounded but only because Six gave them a direct order to.

"You have all done well in decimating the Profligates from the Mojave but there's a task for Lanius and the Courier: I need you to head towards the Northern Passage and ascertain if there are Profligates gathering there." Caesar said one morning.

Six frowned and she replied. "I've been there before and as such I'm familiar with the area. We'll go there as you ask."

"Good. Lanius, you will take our conscripted White Legs as your troops. Courier, you will take Gaius Magnus for assistance." Caesar ordered and they both obeyed.

When they arrived at the Presidential Suite kitchen where Six ordered Ulysses to gather her Companions in the form of Veronica, Cass, Raul, Arcade, ED-E and Lily.

Six decided to go straight for the blunt route. "We are heading back to Zion but the Legion is tagging along." The frown on her face didn't fade and Cass knew why.

Cass noted. "Because the Burned Man is there." Six nodded.

Ulysses explained. "Caesar still has that kill on sight order on Graham. I and the Courier will not attack him but he will attack us due to our association with the Legion. I also should note that the Legion wouldn't take too kindly to seeing the Sorrows and the Dead Horses."

Veronica mused. "They will try to conscript or destroy them." Six nodded at them.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Until then, Ulysses, warn Graham that the Legion is here and tell him to order his Dead Horses to hide from the sights of the Legionnaires. You will say the same thing to Daniel and the Sorrows." Ulysses nodded.

Six turned to her entourage. "I have chosen the handful of you to act as my agents despite Caesar lending me Gaius Magnus. Get some sleep, I'll wake you guys up in the early morning. Let us hope that our visit to Zion is a short one and doesn't put in needless bloodshed." She dismissed them and sat down on a chair at the table with a hand to her forehead.

She caught a Wasteland Tequila thrown her way by Ulysses and she saw him sit on the table next to her while holding a bottle of Wine.

"You're worried about how this journey to Zion plays out." Ulysses mused.

Six took a sip and said. "Best case scenario: Lanius and the White Legs just find the NCR troops by complete luck and kill them without interference by the other tribes. Worst case scenario: the Legionnaires stumble on Angel Cave and the Sorrows Camp by accident, assume that the tribes living there are NCR ones and massacre them."

Ulysses took a sip from wine and added. "And Joshua Graham will have a showdown with the Butcher before being taken down and presented to Caesar while Daniel and the others'll be crucified."

"Indeed." Six said as they both drank their drinks and went to bed.

The Legion cleared the entrance of the Northern Passage previously blocked by the Courier and took the journey to Zion. Six and her followers decided to take place in one of the ranger stations and met up with Lanius there.

"Very well. I'll send my Companions to scout out the valley for NCR troops while you establish a temporary outpost at the general stores. Until then, the tribes present are not to be touched." Six said seriously.

Lanius raised an eyebrow behind his helmet but didn't question it. "Whatever you say Courier." He left to secure the stores.

Cass and Raul went to Six where the latter reported. "Hey boss. We found out that the NCR outpost is located in one campfire and where the Vault 22 plants are."

Ulysses came to next. "I have spoken with Graham and Daniel and they assured me that the Sorrows and the Dead Horses won't get in the Legion's way."

Six looked at Ulysses and said. "Have ED-E relay this information to the Legate." He nodded and went to the eyebot.

Things were going well for the most part as Lanius' White Legs took out the occasional animal heading their way but unfortunately some Sorrows hunter stood in their way and Lanius attacked them.

Gaius Magnus ran to Six and reported. "Courier Six! Legatus Lanius is attacking the tribes despite your orders!"

Six cursed at this. "Dammit! I guess we have no choice but to fight." She ordered Magnus. "Tighten our defenses! I'll deal with Lanius later."

The troubles didn't end there as Lanius' White Legs attacked some New Canaanite Dead Horses in one of the bridges.

Magnus reported. "Courier Six! Lanius' forces have attacked yet another tribe!"

Six sighed hopelessly as she mused. "This really is the Legion's destiny: to go on fighting other people's forever.

While the White Legs attacked the Sorrows and the Dead Horses, they didn't encounter Daniel or Joshua which relieved Six but she knew in the back of her mind that she will have to take responsibility for what the Legion has done.

They did arrive at the Vault 22 camp and wiped out the NCR garrison with Lanius using the White Legs as expendable muscle and made them take the brunt of the damage the NCR is inflicting upon them. Didn't help that there are some OSI scientists who are working on the spore carriers and plants that they tested out against the White Legs. The White Legs didn't develop an immunity to it and succumbed to the diseases and positions that the carriers dished out but they did their job in killing the last of the NCR forces.

The White Legs have ceased to exist.

"The Bear's forces have been annihilated. Let us return to the Mojave and report to the Mighty Caesar." Lanius told his troops not White Legs and Gaius Magnus troops.

Six stomped forward and reprimanded him. "Have you lost what's left of your mind Lanius?! I gave you a direct order to leave the tribes alone! What on earth is wrong with you!?"

Lanius got into Six's face but the woman didn't falter. "Don't lecture me woman! Those uncivilized cravens deserved death! Can you feel it Courier? It's like the old days battling with the Bear."

Six shook her head and replied. "I don't know what's gotten into you or your men - or rather what's left of them - but in my situations, bloodlust is a liability I cannot afford."

Realizing he had offended Six, Lanius said. "My apologies Courier. I have briefly gave in to my bloodlust. I can promise you that no other lives will be unnecessarily taken during our visit here."

Six wasn't convinced as she said. "I can't take that chance Lanius. You and Gaius Magnus leave Zion by way of the Southern Passage. I'll stay here and clean up whatever mess the Legion has made. Go on without me, I'll join you after I've finished."

Legate Lanius and Gaius Magnus led their forces to the Southern Passage and left Zion while Six and her Companions stayed for fourteen days explaining to Joshua what happened and help the tribes recover.

A month after that, Vulpes' Frumentarii reported that the NCR is mobilizing a massive attack force to assault the Strip. Six decided to pull a rather bold but risky move...

"..and so we will setup a defensive perimeter around Boulder City. I'll have Ulysses rig the entire city with explosives from the Divide. Raul and Cass on the supplies. Veronica and Christine with me as escort. Arcade and Mercedes as medics and Dog and Lily to act as vanguard. Once we've drawn enough of the NCR's troops, we will blow the charges and flee." Six explained.

"You mean to bleed the Bear." Lanius mused. "Bold. But we can't afford to risk much of our forces to do such a thing."

Six replied. "Leave that to me Lanius. From my adventures at the Divide, the Sierra Madre and the Big Mountain, I've learned that nothing is impossible."

"Very well. Courier, you will take Silus and Gaius Magnus for assistance. Death to the servants of the Bear." Caesar intoned.

"May Mars watch your battle and look upon you favorably." Lanius blessed.

At midnight, the Legionnaires used the ruined city's debris for barricades and cover and attempted to set up many vantage points which wasn't much but it's what they've got at the moment. Cass and Raul provided bulk packages of Armor Piercing rounds and surplus if they ran dry. Arcade and Mercedes are packed with a good number of medical supplies for now. Dog and Lily standing behind the Legionnaires. And Six ordering Christine and Veronica to prep the charges.

The attack happened at early morning, hundreds of troopers swarmed in at the place but the Legion held on. While the Legionnaires inflicted heavy NCR casualties, they would lose one of their own, Silus grimly knew that it was only a matter of time before their position becomes untenable.

"Six, Mercedes and I found a cache of medical goods underneath the ruins of Boulder City. If you guys can hold out a little longer, we should be able to retrieve it." Arcade reported and he could distinctly hear some of the Legionnaires groan.

"Begin the retrieval process Arcade, we will buy you the time you need." Six ordered.

The Legionnaires held out a good solid twenty four hours but their numbers are slowly dwindling from the NCR's relentless numbers.

With the help of Ulysses, Christine reported. "Charges are set. They are ready for detonation by your order."

But Arcade protested. "Cache retrieval is still in progress. If you guys can hold a little longer..."

Finally after another eight hours, Arcade happily reported. "It is done. The supply cache has been extracted and safely placed on a Cassidy-Barton Caravan en route to the Old Mormon Fort."

Realizing that they barely held out for an hour, Six issued her final order. "All forces, begin strategic withdrawal now!"

Silus shouted out. "We're seeing more troopers punching into your position milady!"

But six remained confidently as she replied. "Worry not Silus. Your fallen brethren cry out for vengeance. And they shall have it."

The Legionnaires and Six's Companions abandoned Boulder City leaving Six to defend it alone. One unnamed centurion as well as Gaius Magnus got knocked down and while the centurion is dead, Dog pulled out his Sprtel-Wood 9700 and fired on the troopers with precision while Gaius Magnus readied his Minigun and joined the Nightkin in gunning down the troopers.

The Legionnaires started withdrawing while Christine and Veronica laid down covering fire with their laser weapons (LAER and Gauss Rifle). Mercedes and Arcade went with the caravan back to the Old Mormon Fort. Lily and Dog also went with the Legionnaires while aiding Silus, Gaius Magnus and Ulysses push the troopers back with their Big Guns.

Meanwhile Six readied her Red and Orange Lightsabers as she killed plenty of troopers coming to melee her while deflecting some of the shots sent her way back st the shooters. Some managed to hit but Auto-inject Stimpaks did their job in ensuring that their user didn't die. Once she realized that she is surrounded by all sides with troopers pointing their Service Rifles at her, she hit the detonator and fired the Transportalponder seconds just before the blast hits her.

Meanwhile everyone away from the blast radius watched in wonder as the explosion the size of a nuclear bomb killed all of the troopers attacking. Boulder City is now nothing more than a smoking crater.

"Hey guys, did you enjoy the fireworks." An amused female voice said behind them, making almost everyone jump in surprise.

Veronica commented. "Six, you are one crazy girl." Then she smiled as she looked at Christine and Six. "But for us both, I like crazy."

Gaius Magnus said in wonder. "What strategy did you pull against the Profligates milady?"

Six smirked at the Centurion. "I just performed a Chief Hanlon." Silus nodded in understanding.

They reported back to Caesar where he was impressed and pleased that the NCR suffered an explosive defeat (pun intended). He became assured that the NCR won't be coming back to the Mojave for a long time.
