What a surprise

A guest asked for a oneshot of…read and see.

It was the beeping that he heart first. It was faint at first, but it gradually grew louder. He felt disorientated. Groggy, even.

"Daddy!" Charming heard a voice. He forced himself to open his eyes. That was Neal's voice. What was going on? His head was pounding. His vision was blurry at first, but it soon cleared to reveal a concerned (but relieved) looking Snow, with little Neal grinning down at him in her arms.

"Snow? Neal?" Charming croaked. "What's going on?" He tried to struggle up, but Snow quickly sat Neal down on the edge of his bed and gently placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Easy there. Not so fast. You've been out cold for a couple of days. Ever since the accident." Snow looked deeply into Charming's eyes. "Can you remember anything?" Charming scrunched up his eyes, focusing hard. He could vaguely remember being in the cruiser, on a call. He could remember hearing a car horn and seeing bright lights. Then nothing.

"The cruiser." He said quietly. "Was I in a car accident?" He asked. Snow nodded, becoming tearful. Charming understood. She said he'd been out for a couple of days. He didn't want to discuss details in front of Neal, but he guessed that there must have been some scary complications.

"It's ok though, daddy! I'm gonna sort it!" Neal proclaimed. Before his mother could stop him, Neal then crawled up to the front of the bed and proceeded to kiss his daddy on the forehead. He waited for a moment, then frowned. "I don't understand." He said, clearly disappointed, as Snow scooped him back up. "True love's kiss can break any spell?"

"This isn't so much a spell, buddy. I'm just…sick." Charming tried to explain, reaching out and taking his young son's hand. "I'll be better soon though. I promise." Neal didn't seem to like this response. He was about to respond, when there was an audible sigh from the door.

"I had a funny feeling you'd woken up." Snow turned around with Neal and frowned.

"Young lady, you were told I would come and get you with the wheelchair when we had confirmation." She said disapprovingly. Charming was about to ask if Emma was ok when he looked closer at the blanket in her arms. The blanket was wrapped around a baby. Emma. She was pregnant. She'd had her baby!

"Is this my grandchild?" He croaked. Emma came closer. Charming immediately scooted over, risking a lecture from Snow himself. Emma got settled on the bed beside her dad, letting him peek at the little bundle.

"Meet your new granddaughter." Emma whispered. Charming looked down at her in awe. "She arrived yesterday, and she's been waiting to meet her grandpa. Want a cuddle?" Charming nodded eagerly, taking the little girl into his arms.

"Hey princess." He cooed. "I'm your papa." Charming couldn't take his eyes off of her. She was so…perfect. His head was still spinning. He felt like his mouth was the Sahara. But for the moment, none of that mattered. His family had grown by roughly six pounds. Six pounds of pure perfection.
