Chapter 30

They picked up pizza and pasta and they all went back to the apartment. Olivia watched Amanda pick over her food. This is what she wanted to avoid, a setback. Kim took Amanda all the way back to the kid from Georgia. "Thanks for coming with me Fin, I appreciate it. I'm going to take a shower and lay down. I'm not feeling good." Amanda started walking to the bedroom, "See next week, Amanda. Wow Liv her family is a mess. Amanda deserves so much better. Do you think she's even really pregnant?" Olivia started cleaning the kitchen, "I think Amanda believed it or she wouldn't have given her the money. She's hurting Fin." Fin said goodnight, since he was on call with Munch over the weekend. "Well I'm gonna head home, picking up Nick's hours this weekend, Zara is sick. See you on Monday."

Olivia walked in the bedroom and saw Amanda laying on the bed. This was a test. Olivia wanted to see if Amanda was gonna be honest or shut down. She sat next to her, "She brushed the damp, blonde hair out of her eyes. She felt her forehead for a fever, since she wasn't feeling well, just making sure. Your hair is a little wet. You took your shower huh, I don't want you to get sick. Amanda I'm sorry, you had to deal with that." Amanda sat up, "I did block her number and my mom's. I think she's pregnant, that's the only reason I gave her the money. I'm never doing it again." Olivia was happy that Amanda was talking, this was progress. "Liv I want to tell you something okay." Olivia looked at Amanda, "You can always talk to me no matter what. Amanda I don't care what happens or even if you do something I might not like. Always talk to me." Amanda wiped her eyes, "I know but I don't want you throwing the therapy word around because of what I'm about to say. Liv it hurts. I'm so hurt, because my own family, my blood, Liv, they don't love me." Olivia wrapped Amanda up and held her close to her. "I'm so sorry baby. It's not fair, I know, but I love you, Fin, Melinda, hey the whole gang. We all love you so much." Olivia held Amanda until she fell asleep. Tomorrow was a new day and she had a surprise for her.

Amanda felt a kiss on her lips. "Liv you taste like mint. It's Saturday, can't we sleep in?" She opened her eyes, "Well if we sleep in we can't do all the things you want." Amanda sat up, "Like what?" Olivia pulled her out of bed, "Well, you said you wanted to see New York and wanted time with just me. So, you have me and we can do whatever you want to do today, I'm all yours. So get your butt in the shower, because you are taking me to breakfast and I want pancakes." Amanda smiled wide, "Alright!"

While eating breakfast, Amanda told Olivia she wanted to go bike riding in Central Park, shopping in Times Square, and dinner so she could see the city lights at night. "Wow that's a big list for one day. You won't be able to move tomorrow." Amanda smirked, "Liv I'm 19, I think it's you who won't be able to move. You know old bones." Amanda fell out laughing. "Oh yeah! I'm a New York City detective, you're just a kid from Georgia. Let's bet on it. We will do everything on that list, you can't back out, and whoever is sore tomorrow loses." Amanda perked up, "What does the loser have to do, because it will definitely be you?" Olivia laughed, "Amanda, you are so cocky. I tell you what, you decide." Amanda ate her last piece of toast. "Okay Liv, let's play. Whoever loses has to call one friend from our circle, of your own choice of course and has to talk to that person for 10 minutes, while the winner does anything they want to the sore loser's body." Olivia raised her eyebrows, no way was she backing down, Amanda was gonna lose. "Okay, let's do this. Olivia paid for breakfast, "Hey I thought I was taking you to breakfast." Olivia smiled, "Nah, it's on me, the whole day."

They headed to Central Park first and rented bikes. They rode through the park and on the bike path. Amanda liked riding fast. "Hey showboat, you should pace yourself." Amanda didn't listen. "What's the matter Liv? Can't keep up with the pace?" Olivia didn't say a word, she just shook her head. After bike riding they walked to a concession stand and grabbed sandwiches for lunch. "Liv! Look at the boats in the water!" Amanda was like a wide eyed kid, "Yeah baby, we can do sometime they close for winter though." After eating they headed for Time Square. "Liv wait, we're walking?" Olivia couldn't help smiling, "Well yeah, it's the best way to see everything. It's not a race, just a leisurely walk through the city. Are you ok? Wouldn't want you to be sore." Amanda saw Olivia trying not to laugh, " I'm good Liv, it was just a question." They started walking, Amanda immediately regretted riding the bike so fast and she was regretting the bet even more. She whispered under her breath, "Why was I so damn cocky?"

The walking, shopping, and carrying bags only made Amanda's body ache even more. She was so happy when they sat down for dinner. Olivia knew by now that Amanda was hurting, but tried not to rub it in. "So what do you think of New York? Do you wish you were in Georgia." Amanda smiled, "Liv New York is busy, I like it at night with all the lights. There is so much to do here." They ate dinner, talked, and even shared a big brownie dessert with ice cream on top. "Liv let me pay for dinner. You haven't let me pay for anything today and this was all stuff I wanted." Olivia passed the waiter her card, "I know my treat baby. I wanted to make you feel better after yesterday. Did it work?" Amanda shook her head. "Oh and Amanda I was so happy and proud that you talked to me last night. I promise I won't mention therapy to scare you into talking, that's not what I want. Okay?" Amanda looked up, "Thanks Liv for today, for everything. I haven't had this much fun in a long time. Olivia was happy that she could cheer her up. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. We have plenty of time to do lots of fun things. And hey, winter is coming, so ice skating, Christmas trees and lights. What do you think? Olivia stood up, "Liv I think it sounds fun. I also think I lost the bet. Can we take a cab home?"
