Daddies fight nightmares- part 2

SillySuperMan asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch29 "Daddies fight nightmares" where Charming and Emma talk about her nightmare, her fears and his unconditional love for her.

Emma gently awoke to the sizzling sound of something in a frying pan. Once she was a bit more alert, her sense of smell told her it was bacon. Pleasantly surprised, Emma got out of bed to see if any of it was for her.

"Morning." Emma greeted her parents. "Is that bacon I-"

"I've got your plate coming up next." Snow laughed, winking at Charming. Emma and her food. Snow had made Charming's up first. That meant he'd have a chance to talk things over with Emma when she got hers.

Emma came and sat beside her dad at the island with her bacon sandwich. Her mom always made them perfectly.

"Sleep well?" Charming asked. Emma shrugged.

"Sure." She responded, mouth full of bacon and bread.

"Oh…it's just, I heard you last night, when I got up to go to the bathroom, I thought I'd check on you. You seemed to be having a nightmare."

"Oh." Emma responded. She didn't know her dad had heard her. "Well, that's the thing about nightmares. You don't always remember them the next day." She tried.

"I know what it was about." Charming said quietly. "You were quite vocal." Emma went red. "Don't be embarrassed. I'm glad we got it out in the open." Charming said gently. He placed his hand on Emma's shoulder. "Em, I need you to know, regardless of what I may have thought or said before I knew you were a girl, I love you and your brother equally. Nothing can ever change that." He promised her. Emma nodded, looking down at her plate.

"I think I know that." Emma said quietly. "It's just…I'm sure you'll understand the wardrobe giving me doubt." She admitted. Charming did indeed understand.

"We get that." He told her. "But Emma, we put you in there to protect you, just as much as we did it because you're the Saviour. It is always going to be the greatest source of pain to your mother or I that we never got to raise you. But I'd still do it all again if it kept you safe from the Evil Queen." Charming told her. "We're still sorry we had to." Emma nodded. She really did understand.

"I guess it's just going to take me some time, you know?" She said. "I never thought I'd be a big sister" Charming laughed.

"Yeah, I guess most older siblings go through a little stage of uncertainty, huh?" He pointed out. He kissed the top of Emma's head. "I'll be right here until it's passed for you, though. I'll tell you I love you the same every day if I have to." Emma grimaced.

"I don't think we need to get quite that mushy." She said gently. She held up the remaining half of her breakfast. "Although if you want to cook me breakfast every day, I'd settle for that." She joked. Charming laughed. Of course Emma would want their love through food.
