I'm calling it off

Selena asked for a oneshot of Neal telling his parents that he's calling off his wedding the night before. Charming talks to him. Neal explains that their family doesn't have the best track record when it comes to wedding days. Plus, he's marrying Jafar's daughter and he hates the whole family. Charming tells Neal not to worry. That Jafar loves his daughter more than he hates them

There was a buzz in the air. A buzz only an upcoming wedding can provide. Snow and Charming were beyond thrilled that their son had found his true love. Sure, Darya was, to them, an unusual choice of bride at first, with her father being a villain. However, it soon became clear to Snow and Charming that Darya was nothing like her father. Now the wedding was tomorrow, and they couldn't be more thrilled. Or at least, it was meant to be.

"I'm calling off the wedding." Neal announced, storming into the living room where his parents sat. Snow and Charming were lost for words.

"What?" Snow asked him. "Neal, has something happened with Darya?" Neal shook his head.

"No, we haven't fought or anything like that. It's just…she deserves better." Neal said, defeated. Now Snow and Charming weren't having that. Neal was a fine young man and Darya was lucky to have him.

"What do you mean by that?" Charming asked him. Neal shrugged.

"Well, our family doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to weddings, does it?" He pointed out. "Add into the mix that I'm marrying Jafar's daughter and it spells disaster. He hates our whole family. He's not going to stand by and let me marry Darya." Neal said, heartbroken. Charming came and sat beside his son, squeezing his shoulder gently.

"Now Neal Leopold, you listen to your old man. You've not to worry. Everything is going to be just fine tomorrow. You wait and see."

"You can't know that dad." Neal sighed. "I don't want Darya getting hurt. I love her."

"Which is exactly why you're going to be standing at the front of that church tomorrow when she walks down the aisle. Jafar isn't exactly on speaking terms with us, you're right, but he loves his daughter more than he hates us. You know how Killian and I used to get along. But when I stopped being stubborn and realised he was Emma's true love, I let go, because I wanted my daughter to be happy. Jafar will be the same, you'll see."

"Do you really think?" Neal asked. Charming nodded confidently.

"I know, son. Now, enough of this cold feet nonsense. You've got to get a good night's sleep so you're ready tomorrow. You don't want to be stepping on Darya's toes during your first dance as husband and wife." He teased him. Charming patted Neal on the back. "Don't panic. This wedding day is going to go off without a hitch. I'll make sure of it." Neal smiled.

"Thanks dad." He said gratefully. He now realised he had been about to make the biggest mistake of his life.

"That's what parents are for, son." Charming told him. "Go on, up to bed." Neal smiled, heading for his room. Charming watched him go. Neal was right, they didn't have the best track record when it came to doom and gloom free weddings, so Charming would make sure this one was.
