May muses 9: delivery daddy
Day 9 of May Muses! My idea for today: what if Charming had to help Emma deliver a baby?
"When is the ambulance getting here?" Emma panted, pacing up and down. Charming looked at Emma in confusion.
"I thought you said you were calling them about an hour ago?" He asked. Emma stopped pacing, looked at him, and it was clear something was wrong.
"I didn't say I was calling them. I said I couldn't call them, after I tried and found no signal." Emma explained. Charming felt horrified. He had been working so hard to get the door open at the time that he hadn't realised. He had then tried to call Snow so she knew they were about to be grandparents again, but also found he had no signal. That must have been when Emma thought he was calling the ambulance.
"I've not got any either." He explained. Emma's jaw nearly his the floor.
"So I'm in labour and there's no ambulance coming, and we can't get out?!" She asked. Charming immediately came over and rubbed her back.
"It's going to be ok." He said. "I'm sure someone's noticed we're missing and is looking for us right now…" Emma yelled out as another contraction hit her hard. They had been investigating one of the old cabins in the woods as there had been reports of squatters. Emma insisted on accompanying her dad, despite being eight months pregnant, stating that she was bored out her mind. Charming reluctantly agreed, a decision he was bitterly regretting now. After they arrived, a gust of wind blew over an unsteady old oak tree. They were trapped in here. Shirtly afterwards, Emma went into labour. Charming shrugged off his jacket and placed it on the ground.
"Well, it's not exactly going to be comfortable, but we've not got much choice, My grandbaby has decided this is the best location to start their life. Seeing as their mother wanted to make a grand entrance I'm not surprised." Emma looked at her dad in horror.
"No. You cannot be serious! Dad, you can't help me deliver this baby!" Emma screwed her face up in pain.
"We don't exactly have much choice, sweetheart." Charming said, helping Emma to the ground. "I've done it twice with your mother, I at least have a rough idea of what I'm doing. It was pretty au natural when we had you, as well, so I know we can do this." Charming promised her. He then took Emma's hand, letting her squeeze as tightly as she needed to. "Right, let's get this baby into the world."
It was a rough few hours for the pair. Emma had never done a drug free birth before and it was….well, it was painful. But when her newborn daughter was in her arms, it was worth it. Charming and Emma had all but forgotten they were trapped in a cabin in the woods with nobody to contact after the little girl was born. That was until the door suddenly was pounded down. There stood the dwarfs with Snow and Henry behind them.
"Ah, perfect timing." Emma greeted them. "We have a bit of a surprised for you all…"
