Adopting the princess- part 3

SillySuperMan asked for a oneshot of a 3rd instalment following on from Ch2317 "Adopting the princess- part 2" where Neal picks on Emma for being adopted and tells her he'll get to be king and she'll be nothing. He doesn't know their parents changed the law so Emma can be queen since she's their first child.

"Mom and dad said you weren't supposed to have desserts until after dinner." Emma sighed as her four-year-old brother tried to grab the pastry from his, but he was feet shorter than her and had no chance.

"Give it back!" Neal demanded.

"No." Emma said simply. She loved her little brother, despite their rocky start, but he wasn't half a pain sometimes. Especially when he wasn't getting what he wanted.

"Yes!" Neal ordered her. He folded his arms tightly across his chest. "You can't tell me what to do! Give it back! I want to eat it!" He screamed. Emma fought to stay calm. Losing her own temper would not help the situation.

"Neal, you know perfectly well you aren't supposed to have pastries before dinner. Just be glad I caught you and will just put it back, as opposed to mom or dad who would give you into trouble. Now stop being silly." Emma said, trying to get her brother to stop clawing at her top to try and climb up and grab the sweet treat.

"One day I'm going to be king!" Neal yelled at her. "Because mom and dad aren't really your mom and dad, so I become king! When I do, I'm going to make you leave and never come back!" He screamed. Emma couldn't deny that hurt. Neal had basically always known Emma was adopted and what that meant. Using it against her like that was a low blow.

"Oh, is that so?" Came a quiet voice from the doorway. Neal suddenly stopped yelling and clawing at Emma. He looked around and gulped. There stood both their parents, and they did not look pleased. They came in and stood tall in front of Neal.

"Your sister is right, Neal Leopold, you are not supposed to have pastries before dinner, as well you know. You, on the other hand, are very much mistaken, young man." Snow told him. Neal looked confused.

"Emma might not have grown in mama's tummy like you did, but that does not mean she is not our real child. I am very disappointed with you for being so mean to your sister like that. As for you being king, I am sorry, Neal, but you're wrong there too. Emma is our eldest, the eldest becomes the next ruler. Emma will be queen. Let's hope she isn't mean like you were and chucks you out of the palace." Charming told him. Neal sunk down, his bottom lip jutting out. He felt awful now. Emma was surprised.

"Wait, I'm going to be queen?!" She asked. "But I'm adopted!" Snow smiled, placing a hand on Emma's shoulder.

"And still our eldest child." Snow reminded her. "We had that all straightened out not long after Neal was born. You are our eldest. You become the next ruler of Misthaven." Snow confirmed for her. Emma was so shocked. She could hardly believe it. She had never expected she would be queen!

"I'm sorry Emma." Neal piped up. "Please don't send me away." Emma bent down and hugged her little brother.

"I could never do that." She promised him. Snow and Charming smiled. Their daughter had such a big heart, they knew she'd make the perfect queen.
