Arc-2: New Life on Standard
(?/?/?)
It was kind of odd how fast things snowballed out of control. Where to begin? First, thinking that the Academia was just a prestigious dueling school and then discover a grand conspiracy, then you discover that a creepy kid was almost trying to kill you and now you suffer from dueling PTSD involving Dueling Methods. And the cherry on top of the cake, he doesn't know where the hell is he. Of course, he wouldn't be surprised to be either forward or backward in the future or being stuck in another dimension. It was already his thing visiting other planes of existence.
Nate Adams then opened his blurry eyes and noticed that he was not only on some kind of living room, but also that he had bandages all over his body.
"How… Odd… Who the hell patched me up?" Nate asked himself as he laid off the couch he was sleeping on, only to find his left leg hurt like hell. He quickly remembered about to check his stuff. "Wait! I-I'm still alive!" He gasped, seeing how he survived the carding process (Thank Goodness). First off and most important, he noticed that his Yo-Kai Watch was still on his left wrist which was good, his Slifer blazer was hanged up on a nearby coat rack, his backpack was on another couch, and his Duel Disc was lying over a table.
"Whisper? Jibanyan? Someone? Hello?" Nate wanted to know if someone's here. If it is a Yo-kai's doing, he could at least talk It out. If it was a human person, he would also talk it out. Although, he preferred the first option as he is most comfortable talking to dead people rather than living one.
"Huh? You're awake!" A voice called out Nate. The voice seem to not show any kind of malice, but you know the old saying of never judge a book by its cover. "You got me surprised how fast you recovered from that."
"Huh? I-identify yourself! Friend or foe?" Nate activated his survival insticts instantly grabbing his Duel Disc and activate it if the mysterious voice shows any sign of hostility. Though, he didn't knew why dueling a kidnapper would help him make this situation less worse.
The person then revealed himself to be none other than Serena holding a tray of food and first-aid equipment, or that's what he thought. She seem to have a pink hair and a dress with a tie.
"Wh-what…? Serena? D-did you also escaped? And, did you dye your hair pink?" Nate asked pretty confused before having a pain on his abdomen.
"Hey! Don't push yourself too hard! You need to rest more!" Yuzu tried to make Nate sit on the couch again for his own good. "Your body seem harsly injured when I found you on the middle of the street!"
"She is right. It was a miracle that she found you on a back-alley while shopping. Isn't that right, Yuzu?" Whisper entered the room as he seem to give his word to Yuzu. From Whisper Nate never expected to interact in a good way with a human. Wait a minute…
"And was nyice for her to give us a place to rest." Jibanyan added while pouncing over the table of the room to be his lazy self and stuff his feline face with chocobars. Now that he thinks about it, maybe the reason why Jibanyan is having a blast as a Yo-Kai is because he can now eats endless amount of chocolate without dying in the process.
"Yup. Your Duel Spirits are kinda cute you know?" Yuzu replied, which made the 2 Yo-kai on the living room fluster over the comment of the pinkette.
"D-did you just talk to Whisper?" The boy asked in pure shock. So in resume, Yes… Yuzu can see Yo-Kai.
"Huh? Is there something wrong with that?" She asked on an innocent matter. She doesn't even know about what a Yo-Kai is to begin with, so the question made her just raise more questions than to reveal answers.
"Oh boy… It's quite complicated." The White ghost sighted by the female's cluelessness.
"By the way, did you just call me Serena?" The Girl asked once again, unaware that she looked similar to an old friend from Nate's former dimension.
"Gyah… Sorry…" Nate apologized about slipping it up. "It's just, you remind me a lot of an old friend I had. T-that's all!" He stammered while waving both hands in panic. "By the way, where am i?" He asked before putting his Duel Disc on the table. He was just hoping that he wasn't taken into a man-eating world this time.
Yuzu then gasped, she forgot to tell him his ubication. "Oh right! You're at You Show Duel School. It's a dueling school that runs my father. I thought that we didn't had the medical equipment on my home, so me and dad brought you here to cover you up."
"Oh, is that so?" Nate then looked back at his covered bruises to see that they were well patched out. Seems that she and her father knew what were doing. "Even still, why didn't you just took me into a hospi-"
"Yuzu! I'm back from the store!" Said a familiar voice who was carrying shopping bags that sent shivers down Nate's spine.
"GAAAAHH! PLEASE! D-DON'T G-GO ANY CLOSER YURI! I'M BEGGING YOU!" Adams was starting to beg for his life once he heard Yuri's voice. Just the slight tone of the shard activated his fear factor in full panic mode.
"Yuri…? Who is he?" the voice that came from a teenage boy with a red shirt, green pants, a pendulum collar, green and red hair and a pair of googles asked Confused.
"Aahh… S-sorry…" Nate instantly apologized for his awkward performance. It was just that the trauma that Yuri gave him "S-so, who are you exactly?"
That's when the strange boy got more energetic. "That's easy! I'm Yuya Sakaki! Dueltainer and son of the great dueltainer that has ever existed! Yusho Sakaki!"
"Mmm… Yusho Sakaki…" Whisper muttered between his lips. "I swear… I both saw and heard about that name before…"
"Wait! Y-yusho Sakaki!?" Nate quickly gasped by the mention of the dueltainer. Whisper only sweatdropped seeing how his master only copied him out.
"Yeah? Wait! Y-you know my dad!?" Yuya instantly clinged himself into Adams once he dropped the mention of his long-gone father, to know more him. Maybe it wouldn't be that complex, but information is information nonetheless for him.
"Well, it's kinda complicated… I saw him, but not that much. What I'm trying to say is that I just saw like 3 seconds of him." Nate stated about Yusho to get away from discussion. If he was
From the response, Yuya's light of smile slowly faded away to be replaced by a dark sad face. "Oh… sorry for asking then…"
"Oh Yuzu! I have some snacks ready for our guest." Yuzu's father, Shuzo gleefully announced as he was carrying a tray of cookies and other types of snacks for Nate.
"Oh, Hi Mr. Higari. Seems that you have a busy with… Ehhh…" Sakaki being the Shonen MC he is, hasn't figure it out what the hell was going on, despite the first-aid kit and such being obvious clues to give some sort of context to what was happening.
"Oh! Sorry for the lack of context. We found this kid in the middle on the road and needed some treatment. Isn't that right eh… What's your name again?" Shuzo asked Nate who was still clueless about his name.
"Oh… I-it's Nate Adams. Kinda weird for a Japanese to be named after an American name, am I right? ahaha…" Nate stammered, trying to get out of the conversation as soon as possible.
But of course, Yuya didn't come along. He came with his friends, and Sora…
"Hey there Yuzu! Sweet to see you here! You too, Yuya!" Sora the blue-haired kid entered the school alongside Ayu, Futoshi and Tatsuya on his behind. He, alongside the other kids were watching a duel outside before going back to the Duel School.
"You just couldn't believe what we saw today!" Futoshi holded Yuya by the hands. "We saw a duel where one of those duelists use Fusion Summon and the other Xyz Summon! It just gave me goosebumps!" Futoshi began to shiver for the excitement.
But what the kids told him gave Nate really, but really bad PTSD… He began to remember the screams of the Xyzians and how he was force to terrorize a pacific dimension. He holded his hands on his head and started to shake uncontrollably.
"No… NO MORE! P-PLEASE! S-STO-"
"N-nate! Is there something happening to you?" Yuzu tried to calm down the teen by embrazing him with a hug in hopes of him calming down fom his panic attack.
"Wow! Look at this Deck!" It seems that the kids of You Show Duel School took Nate's Deck without permittion and took a look at his deck. The youngsters were absolutely amazed on the look of these never-before-seen cards.
"H-hey kids! Calm yourselves out! Our guest hasn't even gave you permission to grab his cards!" Shuzou quickly took Nate's Deck out of the children's hands, only to slip up and scatter all of the cards on the floor.
"GAH! W-watch out with those!" Nate instantly went to pick up the cards left over the floor, ignoring his Injuries. "S-sorry… it's just that these cards are really one of a-" Nate then heard Shuzo yell like a woman once his eyes got a glimpse of one of his cards from his Extra Deck.
"It's-a-it's-a-it's-a F-fusion Card!" Shuzo declared, seeing Buchinyan's Fusion card on the Deck, which seem to catch the other's attention. "So anyways Mr. Adams, seems that a good Fusion Duelist like you could be good promo-I mean student right here at You Show… Care to enroll yourself in?" Shuzo tried to take advantage of the situation by taking out a clipboard with inscription papers and a pen so he could convince Nate into joining the dueling school.
"What? A Fusion card?" Sora's ears were interested by what Yuzu's dad told him as Yuya and the other kids were to see the Yo-Kai's card. There were amazed to think that the no-one was actually a Fusion User.
"H-Hey! Watch out with those!" Adams then quickly took away the Fusion cards out of everyone's hands because he felt a bit ashamed.
"Hey! What's the sour idea? I wanted to see that more!" Sora insisted into looking into his Fusion cards for more time with the sign of a pout, and the other children (Including Yuya) joined in to protest like a bunch of immature children.
"S-sorry! geez, can you shut up for once?" Nate tried to shut the boys out of their tantrum. "It's just, it's just…"
From the look of the boy's eyes, Yuzu somehow understood that he was passing through some sort of sour part of his life. "Is there anything that is bothering you? The expression of your face, the way you're sustaining your card…"
The Yo-Kai duelist then looked at Shuzo's offspring. "Sorry… It's just that these cards are really personal to me, and… Let's say that I'm doubting from ever dueling again…"
What Nate Confessed made everyone including Jibanyan and Whisper gasp in pure shock.
"What? How can you say such a thing? There is no greater shame among duelists that giving up dueling!" Yuya exclaimed at Nate who tried to make him change his way, but Yuzu stopped him since even if Sakaki's actions had good intentions, he did not knew why the boy would quit dueling.
"Don't throw yourself into situations you don't understand Yuya!" Yuzu scolded Sakaki by smacking him with a paper fan. "Excuse my friend. It's just that he gets like this when Duel Monsters gets involved into a conversation, but you know how boys get heated up when Duel Monsters enters in the topic." She turned her head to Nate, only to discover that he already left the dueling school by the surprise of everyone.
(Streets of Miami City/Miami City/Standard Dimension)
After trying to get away from a convoluted argument with You Show Dueling school, Nate walked at the crowded streets of the brightful Miami city. No matter how much the dimension was flooded with bright colors and smiles everywhere, Adams didn't seem to put his tilted face up and that frown upside down. It was just that he was beginning to relate dueling with really terrible events on his life. Getting brutally beaten by Yuri, being endlessly torture by Sanders, having mental scars due to Heartland's invasion and now almost losing his life at the hands of Arkana.
"Nate, how can you say that you're going to quit dueling?" Whisper asked to his master. "I, get why… But you must understand that dueling is everything on our home and whathever the hell are we if those flashy signs say otherwise. And I mean it literally! Dueling makes the world go round!"
Nate let out a slow sight. "I know Whisper, but… Ever since I enrolled myself in the Academia, I just wished that it would just be a normal Dueling School, when they could teach me the best Dueling tactics and be someone once I grow up… I, never wanted to be involved on an interdimensional invasion… I just want to have a good time… Now, I just want to go home…"
Whisper then though about ideas on how to cheer up Adams. "Oh! But you remember the good times you had thanks to dueling? You made friends with Serena, you gave quite the spectacle back at the admission duels and… and…" Whisper's list of good things seem to end very shortly.
"Nyate! Come one! Don't act like a pussy, nyan! You got through worse! I'm sure we can get out of this one as long as we stick together, nyan!" Jibanyan tried to cheer up the Yo-Kai duelist with enthusiasm.
"Man, hearing you swear is pretty weird, you know Jibanyan?" Nate pointed out noticing the bomb his cute and feline friend dropped so casually.
"Besides, we don't have nowhere to live and no ceiling to live under. I doubt that anyone would want a stranger living for free on their house. And besides.." Whisper put his hands between his chin. "First off, Yuzu was able to see me without the necessity of a Yo-Kai Watch. Second, she looks way too similar to Serena that it's disturbing. Third, that brazalet of hers…"
But Whisper's concentration would then be stopped by Sora who managed to surprise them both by poking them by the behind.
"HYAH!" Nate screamed due to the scare by Sora which resulted in his part flailing randomly all over.
"Hey there!" Sora saluted the teen on a very casual way. "Sorry for busting in without notice, but it's just that Yuzu's pops wanted me to find you." Sora told him while having his body sideways
Nate sighted out of tiredness. "Look, I already told you! I'm giving up Dueling from here on out! Just please, get out of my way." He tried to push Sora out of the way, but even after being taken down, the kid stood up and ran to block Adam's way.
"PLEEEEAASE!?" Sora plead to the Yo-Kai Duelist as he beg and made puppy eyes. "Come on! Shuzo told me you can sleep on his home if you enroll yourself in You Show, and it's a special deal since it's free! Come on! I wanna watch your Fusions in action! I wanna, I wanna, I wanna!" Sora shook Nate's head to convinvce him, causing him to become very dizzy.
"Come on. It would be good publicity for our school! Besides, I'm sure that if you return to dueling, you will smile again." Yuya who approached the 2 told Nate.
"Huh? And where the hell did you came from?" Nate asked a bit frustrated. He just wanted to be left alone without anymore weird people trying to pinch his ass, but it seems that whenever he wants something normal, life throws him something unexpected like always.
"Sorry. It's just that seeing someone with an Extra Deck is super-rare here!" Sakaki apologized while scratching his head.
"Super-rare you say? How so?" What Yuya told him caused Nate to raise an eyebrow.
"Oh, about that!" Sora was about to explain Nate on how things worked at Miami city. "You see, just like you, I'm also a Fusion user. I don't want to boast my ego, but I consider myself a Fusion Extraordinaire!" Sora sticked his tongue before showing his Frightfur Fusion monsters. "Here in Miami City, there are a dozen of Dueling Schools dedicated into a way of dueling. One of which is the Leo Duel School where they specialize on Ritual, Fusion, Synchro and Xyz!"
With the mere pronunciation of the word Xyz tick one of Nate's nerves. "Sorry, b-but I can't right now…" He pushed the 2 youngsters out of his way to get through.
"Well Yuya…" Sora sighted a bit frustrated. "Seems that our guest only needs more motivation to join us!" The kid said with an evil grin on his face as he chuckled.
After Yuya noticed Sora's malice, he knew what he was about to do to the poor boy...
Nate decided to go into a public bathroom to stress off all the troubles all of this dimensional shenanigan has caused to his mind and his rear end. Maybe this is it. He has found out internal peace at the sacred sanctuary of facies.
But you know how good things can't seem to last for nate as Sora surprises the teen by jumping over the door.
"Oh well! M-maybe a book couldn't hurt anybody…" Adams though he would be left alone if he was sitting on a silent library reading a book, but his deduction would be proven wrong once he crossed paths with Sora once again, causing him to scream atop of his lungs, kicking the boy out of the library.
"So… wanna join Duel School?" Sora asked innocently, but he only got a smack with a paper-fan as a return before Adams would leave. "I'll take that as a no…" the blue-haired boy declared before collapsing into the ground.
And the same thing continued. No matter which place Nate would go, Sora would follow him into the end. From a hot dog stand to the bank, to the local arcade, and even unexpected places like a construction site.
"GAH! I can't take it anymore!" Nate raged in frustration as he opened the door of You Show Duel School, with Sora following on his behind.
"Wait, Sora? Did you were following the boy all this time!?" Shuzo was quite astonished on Sora's persistence on convincing Nate to join the dueling school. Although, he was worried that this would only make Adams distance himself more from You Show.
"Sorry Mr. Higari, but my sweet scenes couldn't let a Fusion out of my sight." Sora responded while hugging Nate, which made the Yo-Kai duelist feel uncomfortable to say the least. "Besides, Yuzu also sent me to give you this. Sorry for not telling ya later." Sora apologizes for the trouble he has given by giving Nate a package. "It says that it's for you."
Nate just picked up the package. "Um, thanks, I guess…" He drawled before sitting on the couch of the living room. It was quite odd that the package had his name written on it, considering that he's on another dimension that is. The weirdest part is that it was from his secret admirer.
"Hmmm… It's quite mysterious indeed." Whisper deduced. "How could our secret admirer send something here, considering that he used to send you cards back at the Fusion Dimension?"
"Nyoust wait until he says that he either isn't human or he's from anyother dimension." Jibanyan predicted what Whisper would latter say, which he did for anyone's surprise.
"Jibabnyan! Stop saying what I was about to say, you dumb cat!" The white ghost reclaimed in anger toward the red cat while he was laying on the couch alongside Nate with his smug face, eating chocobars.
"Oh my. Look it here… More cards… How fricking wonderful…" Nate sighted unsurprised. He was just getting tired of dueling at this point. But it didn't matter how far he tried to stay away, the ghosts of dueling seem to always chase him down.
Meanwhile, Yuya and Yuzu were concerned about Nate's state. They wanted to help him from his symptom of frowny face.
"Yuya… I know you want to help him, but he seems to not be on the mood of dueling." Yuzu tried to reason with the performer on finding another way to resolve this without dueling. But You Show Duel School prides itself by bringing smiles with dueling.
"I… Know, but…" Yuya leaned his head while holding his Pendulum Necklade his dad gave him. "Isn't my job as a dueltainer to make him smile? I can't stand people who are unable to be happy and drown in misery. Besides, he may know a thing or two about my dad. I'm sorry Yuzu, but I'm going to make that boy smile, whathever it takes." Yuya declared before walking toward the Yo-Kai duelist, ignoring Yuzu who was trying to stop him.
"Well, he inheret that stubbornness from his father after all." Shuzo scratched his head, remembering the glory days of how Yusho and him used to perform for everyone. Still, he thinks that Yuya needs to understand that there are times when people can't smile for reasons.
Nate only leaned her head, with his sould being endulged by despair. What to do now? If he returns to Fusion, they will card him, stay on Standard and his parents would be very worried. Try to escape and be looked as a fool by others.
"Hey! Can I talk for a moment?" Yuya asked the kid while sitting next to him.
"Whathever…" Nate nodded with an empty voice.
Yuya fueled himself with confidence. "Can I duel you? Please! It's my duty as a dueltainer to see people smile! If I want to be just like my dad, then I have to make anyone I see smile. Just please, let me duel you, and I'll introduced you into a new world of dueling and fun!"
Whisper was quite astonished by the teen with the green and red hair's determination on insisting on dueling his master, or it would most likely be stubbornness coming out of the boy.
"I told you already! I don't want do duel anymore!" Adams raised his voice against the dueltainer, causing the others to gasp on the kid's raise of anger. Nate thought it for a second before calming his nerves as he watched Jibanyan being scared shitless out of his own fury. "But… I guess I can try at least once, because you're going to annoy me until I accept, don't i?" He asked annoyed, rubbing his face with his right hand. "Just give me time to add these new cards to my Deck."
Once Nate confessed his decision, Yuya jumped out of joy. "Great! Now that's the spirit! Because a duelist never stops dueling!"
"Ohoho! A Duel with a Fusion user! I'll get the Real Solid Vision field ready on this instant!" Shuzo exclaimed before rushing into the RSV (Real Solid Vision) control room to prepare the arena. And pray to Ra it doesn't explode like last time.
*Sometime Later*
Both duelists were each standing on one of the far edges of the outside Dueling arena of You Show Duel School.
"Woah! A duel between a Pendulum master and a Fusion user!" Futoshi Harada, the chubby kid of the 3 (And only) kids watched in awe from the window of the arena. "The mere though of it gives me… SHIVERS!" He exclaimed in joy while shaking his body.
"I can't wait to see those cute monsters of Nate in action!" Ayu squeeled in excitement while sticking her face on the window.
"Too bad that Gongenzaka isn't here to watch him. He told us that he was training on his dojo for the rest of the day." Tatsukya sighted, disappointed that the big guy wasn't here to watch this manly fight. Heck! This could have culminated into a Synchro vs Fusion Duel.
Unlike the youngling of You Show, Yuzu and Sora were more serious about this for different reasons. For Sora, is that he was interested about Nate's Extra Deck and gear he brought with him, and Yuzu cuz of her Yo-Kai. She still has a lot of questions that need to be answered.
"Alright, let's just get this over with." Nate sighted before activating his Duel disc, wating for Yuya to do the same.
"Wait! Wait! We still haven't activated the Real Solid Vision field!" Sakaki tried to stop Adams from activating his Disc, due to the field not being ready yet.
What the dueltainer told them made the boy and his Yo-Kai raise an eyebrow.
"Now watch and awe! Action field on! The Wildest West!" Shuzo pressed a button on the control room, causing the RSV Machien to activate.
The whole area began to transform. The dull dueling arena morphed into a desert. Filled with Wild West building, cactuses, barrils, and more cowboy stuff. Not to mention a letter saying "Hell's River".
"Wait, What the shit is this!?" Adams jumped on fright watching the whole place transform into something out of a Wild Western movie.
"H-h-how should I know Nate!? I mean, i-it can't be the work of a Yo-Kai! O-or can it!?" Whisper freaked out, trying to scroll down his Yo-kai pad to find an entry that could match their situation. And Jibs was as scared as the others.
"Huh? What?" Yuya expressed a poker face by Nate's confusion about everything. "You don't know what an Action Duel is?"
The 3 were absolutely clueless with a poker face facing Yuya. "What the hell is an action Duel? Some sort of filmed duel or something? Sorry for being such a country bumpkin, it's just that I, uhh… Come from the mountains."
Yuya felt some pity for the boy, but he's still was smiling as always, and he's planning to make Nate smile once again. "Ehh… Don't worry, I'm sure you'll learn once the duel flows on." Yuya calmed down Adams from his freakout before raising his arms into the sky. "And now, let's swing into action! Duelists locked in a battle!"
"Kicking the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monsters!" Yuzu added while seemingly over-enthusiasted about following Yuya's chant.
"They storm through this field!" The 3 children of You Show Duel School exclaimed with excitement as they jumped from their seats.
"Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of Dueling!" Sora finalized while also raising his hands to raise hype on its public.
"Action…" Yuya said before yelling…
DUEL!
Action Duel
Yuya Sakaki LP: 4000 VS Nate Adams LP: 4000
"I'll start!" Yuya exclaimed in excitement as he looked at his hand.
Yuya's hand: 5
"Let's begin this show by summoning this! Performapal Hip Hippo!" Yuya placed his first monster, that being a pink hippo wearing a suit and a hat.
(EARTH/LV: 3/ATK: 800/DEF: 800)
"Huh! What a good-looking monster we have!" Whisper said looking at the Hippo doing a greeting bow.
Yuya then jumped into the hippo and began to ride it. "All right, let the fun being!" He exclaimed as he began to run all over the field riding his hippo.
"What the!? H-hey! That's cheating!" Nate pointed out, seeing how the dueltainer was running and jumping alongside Performapal Hip Hippo! "Duelists aren't supposed to be jumping around with their monsters! How am I supposed to attack you then?"
"That's the point!" Yuya declared. "In Action Duels, duelist and monsters interact with one another to win duels together! The whole stage is your show, all thanks to the Real Solid Vision Technology!" Yuya responded. "And I'll end my act by placing 2 face-down cards and now, it's your show to shine!"
And from that moment, a thought came into the 3's minds.
"Interacting…"
"With…"
"Meownsters…?"
The 3 friends rub their hands as maliciously as possible.
"Alright then, the faster we finish this, the better!" Nate seem to slowly recover his spirit for what he can now do at this-so-called "Action Duels" "I draw!"
Nate's Hand: 6
"Alright Nate, seems that its our opponent didn't opened with a good hand and he only managed to summon a monster this turn." Whisper told Adams as he looked at the tomato-haired Duelist riding his hippo all around the wild west. "So go as nuts as possible to maybe make an One Turn Kill, but keep an eye with those face-down cards and don't get cocky! I know you can win this!"
"Psst… As If I didn't knew." Adams then looked directly at Yuya with passion. "Alright, time to bring down the clown!" He exclaimed, pointing at Yuya Sakaki. "First, I need to set up my Graveyard for my Zombies to rise to the surface! I activate the Spell Card Foolish Burial to send Robonyan into the Grave!" Nate exclaimed as he dumped Jibanyan's future self into what Zombie Duelists like to refer as "The 2nd hand". "And with that, I'll summon the beast that feed off your dreams! Baku the Charming Yo-Kai!" Adams then summoned his main Doppelganger in the nights into the field.
"Oh! Long time no see Nate! Is there any dreams for Baku to feast on?" Baku asked cheerfully while looking around for any dreams he can carve his teeth on.
(DARK/Zombie/Lv: 4/ATK: 1300/DEF: 200)
"And guess what? When Normal Summoned, Baku can resurrect a Yo-Kai from my Grave, so turn on your circuits, Robonyan the Tough Yo-Kai!" Nate declared as the metallic cat descended into the battlefield on his jet-pack in attack mode, shining his grey metal body for the world to awe.
"Greeting Nate. Is there any issue I need to take care off?" The robot from the future asked his friend. "Although, I'm quite surprised that I've returned to my more inferior version." Robonyan noticed that rather than having his F-Type upgrade, it was his first model.
(EARTH/Machine/Lv: 4/ATK: 1900/ DEF: 500)
"Huh? That's strange. Why would Nate have a Machine monster in a Zombie-Centric Deck?" Allen hold his chin In question on why would Adams have a Machine-Type monster on a Deck that mostly works with Zombies.
"That is where you're wrong, young human." Robonyan quickly turned directly at the kid's direction which surprised him. "Thanks to the technological advancements from the far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far future, human scientist and even Yo-Kai scientist were able to create a material that has the properties of metal and spirit. And my effect resonates with thar. As I am both a Machine and Zombie-Type monster whenever I am, be either the hand, field, grave, dreck or banished zone. I am a machine that lives, yet its dead!"
"Wait! Did that monster just talked to us directly?" Futoshi gasped in excitement. "That gives me Shivers!"
"Uhh… Nyate? I think they beginning to suspect, Nya!" Jinaynan pulled his friend's leg in warning for the kids noticing the Yo-Kai's free will to speak by themselves, but Nate only wanted this duel to end quickly, he could now care less.
"And for my next move, I'll equip Robonyan with this! Power of the Guardian!" Nate then slid his next card, making Robonyan be enveloped by a holy light.
"Status report. My circuits feel a surge of power coming from the celestial presence of very mediocre and outdated monsters." Robonyan analyzed, feeling the power of the Gurardian monsters flowing through his circuits.
"And now, we shall battle!" Nate then went through the battle phase of his turn. "Robonyan, attack!" Adams ordered his monster, pointing at Yuya and his Hip Hippo who were standing over the roof of a Saloon.
"Order received!" Robonyan turned his body to the dueltainer's direction, preparing a fist. "Locking on target!"
"And here comes Power of the Guardian's effect!" Nate declared while his robot cat began to be showered by a holy light. "Whenever a monster equipped by this Equip Spell attacks or is attacked, a Magic Counter is placed on the Equip Spell! And for every Magic Counter, the monster equipped gains 500 Attack and Defense!" Nate finished up explaining before the Wicked-Breaking Flamberge Baoul materialized behind Robonyan, and then the spirit of Guardian Baou appeared behind the robot cat.
(Power of the Guardian's Magic counters: 1)
(Robonyan the Tough Yo-Kai/ATK: 1900 – 2400/DEF: 500 – 1000)
"Huh? Then how am I supposed to beat that thing?" Yuya gasped alongside his hippo.
"If you have any complains to express, then talk to the paw! Rocket Punch!" Robonyan then launched his iconic Rocket Punch, rocketing itself toward the Dueltainer.
But rather than tremble in fear, Yuya just smile. "Don't think so! Action Card, Evasion!" He slid a card, which caused Hip Hippo to dodge the incoming missile with style and grace.
"WHAT!? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT KIND OF BULLCRAP!?" Nate quickly lost his marbles, seeing how Yuya just pulled a card right off his ass and use it, even though on its text never said to be usable in hand in each player's turn.
"Oh right, about that." Yuya remembered that their new guest isn't that noticed on Action Duels. "What I played was an Action card. Action cards are all scattered over the field for Duelist to collect with the help of its own monsters they summon. They can be used anytime, but you can only hold 1 Action Card per turn." Yuya explained the use of Action cards to the Yo-Kai duelist.
"O-okay…?" Nate muttered. "Like seriously, since when did duels became so complicated?" he whispered on Whisper's ear, which bothered the others since it made him look like he was telling words to the nothingness itself.
"I don't know Nate, they began to become hell of hard to catch ever since they introduced the Synchro monsters." Whisper responded to the duelist. "But why are you even complaining? You're a super-acrobatic super soldier for crying out loud!"
"Ehh… Let's better forget about that part for now. I just want this to end as much as possible." Nate sighted while face-palming. "That reminds me! I still got Baku to attack that hippo! Go Baku! Open wide and snack them!" Adams ordered his Mythological ghost to attack.
"Haha! Baku wonders how your dreams taste!" Baku jumped high into the roof while opening his maw as wide as possible to gobble up the pink hippo.
"Gah! Yikes!" Yuya shrieked, thinking that he was about to be eaten too. He quickly jump off Hip Hippo's back to save himself, which lead to the poor Performapal being chomped on and destroyed.
(Yuya's HP: 4000 – 3500)
"Hehe! Sorry, but it seems that your hippo's performance was cancelled." Nate acted smugly as he rubbed the lower part of his nose with his index finger. Only to find out a colorful box with mystery signals. "Oh, don't tell me… Your monster was hiding under that box…"
"H-hey! Don't spoil the magic!" Yuya fumed as he showed a Trap that he activated. "Anyways, I activate Performapal Revival! When a monster of mine dies, I can recast a Performapal from my hand or my graveyard! Sorry Nate, but seems that the fans wanted Hip Hippo to do an encore!" Yuya smiled as the box popped into confetti, revealing Hip Hippo inside which he tip his hat to salute the kids of You Show.
"wo-how! Yuya is so amazing!" The kids cheered the dueltainer as they watched from the bleachers.
"Yup! That's Yuya for ya." Sora complineted while taking his lollipop out of his mouth. Even still, he's still waiting for the new kid to Fusion Summon already.
Yuya jumped from the roof of the western building into a hay alongside his monster to come back into the ground. "Alright, anything to close your act?."
"Hmm… As a matter of fact?" Adams hold his chin with his hand to pretend that he didn't had anything. "Yes. I activate my Spell Card Yo-Kai Watch! It's just like Destiny Draw, so you know the jig!" Nate discarded Blazion from his hand to draw 2 cards, and what wonderful cards he drew.
"Oh! It looks like you drew one of nyour new cool card Nyate! Try it! Try it!" Jibanyan bounced in excitement, waiting for his friend to activate one of his new spells.
"I'm on it Jibanyan! Shees!" The Zombie duelist quickly raised the spell card into the air. "And now ladies and gentlemen, get ready those banjos, because I shall play one of my Fusion Spells! Meet the Merican Yo-Kai!" Adams cried as he slid his spell into the Duel Disc. "By banishing one of my Yo-Kai in my field, I can Special Summon a Yo-Kai Fusion monster whose level is equal to the monster banished. Yeah, sorry for this Baku…" Nate apologized to the Charming Yo-Kai while scratching his back.
"Nah, Baku don't mind, because Baku knows you will win this!" Baku said its last words before being tribute and transported back to where the Yo-Kai was before being summoned here.
Adams at least felt less guilty for what Baku told him. "Alright then, then let me present you my Fusion monster! Here comes Lionguist the Merican Mysterious Yo-Kai!" Nate presented his new Fusion monster to everyone, which was Blazion's American cousin.
"Bonjour amigos. It is a pleasure meeting you all!" The afro lion told everyone, which couldn't quite understand since he speak in English.
(FIRE/Zombie/Fusion/LV: 4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 0)
"And now behold it's effect! When summoned, I can do this! Language Barrier!" Nate cried out as Lionguist opened his textbook against Yuya, unleashing a wave of literal words and sentences against the boy.
"Yikes! I knew that textbooks were evil!" The dueltainer shrieked in panic before blocking the incoming tsunami of words with his arms. "Huh? How strange. My Life Points haven't dropped or my cards haven't been discarded." Yuya looked around to check if there were any alterations to his field.
"Hehehehe… Then why don't you look at your hand then?" Adams pointed at the duelist's hand, which he did. Only for Sakaki to cringe in pure horror.
"Uh… Is there something wrong Yuya?" Shuzo asked the son of his best friend.
"M-my-my cards…" Yuya stammered in panic. "THEY'RE NOW WRITTEN IN ENGLISH!"
"WHAAAAAT!?" The members of the You Show Duel School jumped in shock on what happened to Yuya's cards.
"Eyup! Let's say that some of my Yo-Kai posses really odd abilities. Lionguist's ones changes the text of all cards you own to a different language. So I hope that you have put attention during your English classes!"
With this odd hazard, Yuya will have it difficult to memorize his card's effects. And let's say he isn't the brightes bulb when it came to foreign languages.
"So I'll set a card face down. With that I end my turn." Nate smirked with a shit eating smug face, thinking that this effect would put him ahead of his opponent.
Turn: 2
"Sight! I knew that Yuya's lack of knowledge of other languages would bite his butt sooner or later. How is he gonna even be a word-wide famous dueltainer if he doesn't even know basic foreign languages?
"No matter! Because even if the odds are against me, I'll be continuing smiling! I draw!" Yuya said in excitement as he drew his next card.
Yuya's hand: 3
Cards set: 1
Yuya looked at his hand once again, smiling on the perfect card he drew. "Ha! Just the card I needed to swing the duel!" He exclaimed as he rode his hippo to the roof of a bar. "Make way for Performapal Sword Fish!" Sakaki then slid a card into his Duel Disc, materializing in the form of an elvis-like fish that literally looks like a sword.
"Yeah!" The fish in Attack Position said as he was summoned into the field.
(WATER/Fish/LV: 2/ATK: 600/DEF: 600)
"And now, I activate Sword Fish's special ability!" Yuya declared as he hold Swordfish like a sword. "I can target a card you control and reduce 600 of its attack until the end of this turn!" The teenager exclaimed as he leaped while holding up Sword Fish into the air, causing him to look very epic with the western sunset combined, which made Jibanyan hype up like crazy, only for the sword Fishes to multiply for Yuya to throw out.
Nate and his Yo-Kai only saw the school of sharp fishes coming their way just like that arrow rain scene in 300. "Well, shit…" Nate cursed with a sweatdrop, smiling awkwardly just seeing the inminent doom. "RUN!" The brunette teenager cried in panic as the trio raced out to get away from the cross-fire.
"Quickly! We'll be like needles right here!" Whisper pointed at a nearby hay, which the trio without doubted jumped into to protect themselves from the rain of fishes.
"Well, Baku is done for here, but Baku had a good after-life at least." Baku was already ready to face death, which was weird considering that Baku is a ghost so she would already be dead at least. Only for the falling Sword Fishes to miss their target. All of them. "Well, Baku was disappointed. Baku hoped for at least die like if Baku was in a movie.
The Same could be said for Lionguist, but even more painful, as Sakaki was targeting the lion to reduce its Attack.
(Lionguist the Merican Mysterious Yo-Kai/ATK: 1200/DEF: 0)
As for Robobyan, no matter how many Swordfishes hit him, he standed proud as a robot Yo-Kai, without any sword penetrating his special metallic body. "Ha! Ha! Try all you want! My metal is able to resist even the worse of nuke bombs!" Robonyan then began to taunt his opponent by showing his tail and waving it left and right. "So you're free to bite my shiny meta as-"
PLUCK!
"Aaa! Ahahaha! AAHH YESS!" One of the Sword Fishes penetrated Robonyan's butt, which resulted the cat releasing a loud and akward moan of pleasure and excitement, as every circuit inside his computer began going crazy.
"Am I really that weird and sexually odd in the future nyan?" Jibanyan awkwardly asked as the 3 had a sweatdrop behind a barricade of hay.
"Uhh… Is it over?" Nate cowardly asked as he revealed his face from the mountain of hay he was hiding in.
"OW!"
"Whisper! What the hell?" Nate noticed the scream the white ghost left, which made him jump out of the hay.
"Oh sorry Nate, it's just that I seem to sit on something." Whisper then turned for both Jibanyan and Adams to look at his white butt to reveal he has an Action Card stuck up his ass. "Does it look that bad?"
Adams then awkwardly pulled the Action card from his butler's buttcheeks. Only for him for his genius bulb to turn off. "Hey, I think I got quite the evil idea, hehehe…"
"Oh! Oh! I Nyow! Walk around in circles naked and tell them to suck it nyan?" The red cat said weirdly exited about the idea he got.
"Ehh, no." Nate responded before jumping out of the mount of hay. "Wait! Wait! Time out! T-time out!" Nate raised his hand in sight of stopping for some seconds.
"Huh? Timeout?" Yuya tilted his head sideways alongside Hip-Hippo in confusion. "But we're starting to have fun."
"U-uhm… S-sorrry, it's just that these things are very new to me, and my mind needs to digest all these traumatic events. I'll promise It'll be quick!" Nate quickly enter inside a bar alongside his friends and then unpacked his backpack. "Hey Hiddabat, are you there still?"
"Hmm? I-is there something you want Nate?" The Bat asked as she popped out her head out. It was great that the bar was dark enough for a shut-in like Hiddabat to not get burned by the sun.
"Uhh, Yeah… The issue is, that if you have 2 drones to lend me." The Yo-Kai duelists asked his friend if he could let her use one of her drones. "I promise not to break them."
"No neet to worry." The bat ghost beamed before entering the bag again, coming with 2 Yo-Kai drones. "I have like a dozen of them, so it's not that big of a deal."
"Thanks buddy. I'll make sure to repay you again." Nathan thanked the bat before she hid again in the backpack. He knew this was technically cheating, but…
"So, what's your master plan Nate?" Whisper questioned as his master was booting up the Drones to full power to function properly.
"That guy said that monsters can interact with the field for us to gain advantage on gaining cards right? Then how about you 2 help me on that task. I do the dueling while you do the scavenging." Adams reaffirmed his plan as the 2 drones began to fly.
"Uhh… Is that the case, then why the drones then Nate?" The white ghosts still had no clue on for what the drones of him. "Hey, aren't you a super-soldier already? Oh I see! It's just that you're too lazy to get the card yourself, and you're now sending us to do the dirty work, do't ya!?" Whisper fumed in anger as he smacked his master for his sloth.
"Ehh, kinda…" The duelist reaffirmed.
"And yet, the weirdest part is why even using drones in the first place." The ghost added, still having not the single idea for why having 2 drones if he could collect the Action Cards himself.
"How would you feel if a mysteriously Action Card just begins to float around?" Nate told his buitler the reason of why the drones. "Just go collect as many cards as you can while I do the dueling, alright?" Adams ordered his 2 Yo-Kai which the white ghost nodded.
"By the way Nyate, isn't this basically cheating, nya?" Jibs still had very major doubts about his friend's actions.
"Is it really cheating when it doesn't really dictates that this is illegal?" He responded.
"Oh, good point…" The cat sighted.
"Alright, i-I'm done! We can proceed!" Nate got out of the building with his 2 drones beside him. "Now this will be the part where I'm gonna kick your ass!" He pointed at the protagonist with pride as a wave of confidence just hit him thanks to his ingenious plan.
"Uuuh? A-are you seriously going to use drones for you to search action cards?" Yuya pointed out a bit disappointed on what Nate has to do to at least have a chance.
"Gah! He knew it already!" Adams exclaimed and did a face fall.
"Huh? You are that surprised?" Whisper acted with surprise noticing how Nate reacted to yuya's response.
"And well, I know this isn't necessary cheating, but this kinda defeats the whole purpose of Action Duels if you ask me." Reafirmed Sakaki a bit akward.
"Uhh… Let's just, continue the duel won't we?" Nate just want to resume his duel as he sent his drones to search for more Action Cards for him to use.
"Uhh…" Yuya placed his attention back into the duel, looking at his hand. It was very difficult to remember the effects of these cards now written in English, but for his luck he had a card everyone was familiar with. "You may have sabotaged my cards, but I'm sure this one cards is already familiar with everyone! Pot of Greed!" He declared, all while drawing 2 cards from his deck. Fortunately, one of this cards resulted to be Stargazer Magician, but he needed to be patience for him to show Adams something that will make his jaw drop. "Uhh… Let's see… there's must be somehow a card I know its effect by memory."
"Uhh… I already told Yuya that studies are as important as dueling. But well, seems that karma can find its wau after all." Yuzu facepalmed herself while sweatdropping, watching how her friend was struggling with the foreign language. Yet still, she was wondering why were Whisper and Jibanyan surfing over those drones. Although, Yuya and his hippo weren't that behind. Hip Hippo leaped over the building while Yuya jumped to grab the escalator of a water tower. He climbed his way on the top where an Action Card was, and looked that luck was truly on his side.
"Ha! Perfect! I activate the Action Spell, second summon!" He exclaimed as he showed the card he recently picked up as it glowed. "This allows me to Normal Summon a second time! And even if I can't understand my card, it doesn't mean that I can use a monster with a higher attack! Take center stage, Performapal Whip Snake!" Yuya shouted with passion as he called upon his purple snake.
(EARTH/Reptile/LV: 4/ATK: 1700/DEF: 900)
"Well, seems that his monsters just get weirder and weirder, ehh, at least I'm glad that he's riding the same boat with me…" Nate shrugged once he saw the weird-looking snake.
"Great… Fan, effin', tastic… An anime BS moment right on my eyes…" Adams grunted in annoyment. It would be the right moment for his to counter this with an action card, if Whisper and Jibs didn't lasted this freaking long! Oh wait! He has one Action card in his position. That's until he remembered something important.
"Battle!" Yuya declared that now he would skip into the Battle Phase. "Whip Snake, go and attack Lionguist!" Yuya ordered his Whip Snake which the snake leaped himself into his prey, showing off his big and poisonous fangs.
"Not on meowd Guard!" Robonyan quickly went flying to push the Merican Lion out of the way, redirecting the attack toward him.
"Oh, did I forgot to tell you that you can't attack any Yo-Kai monster I control except Robonyan when he's on the field? Oh, how forgetful of me! Ohohohoho!" Nate's more arrogant side began to overwhelm him, until Whisper Smacked him back into reality.
"Not only that, but since I'm being attacked by another monster, the Equip Spell Power of the Guardians gains an additional Spell Counter, further upgrading my Offensive and Defensive capabilities!" Robonyan told his opponent as a projection of Guardian Gnarl joined with Baoul into empowering the machine with their blessing.
(Power of the Guardian/Spell Counters: 1 – 2)
(Robonyan the Tough Yo-Kai/ATK: 2400 – 2900/DEF: 1000- 1500)
"Now, taste the fury of my Counter Rocket Punch!" Robonyan showed himself to be the fastest finger in the west as he targeted the purple cobra and shot out a Guardian-Enpowered Metallic fist against him, causing him to blow away into millions of pieces, with the remains flying toward Yuya
(Yuya's LP: 3500 – 2300)
"Yuya! How could you be so careless? You should understand the cards of your opponent more often or this will be a recurring problem!" Yuzu scolded Sakaki from his recklessness. I mean, whats with people not even caring for reading opponent cards?
"I'm about to have very bad shivers if Yuya loses this duel!" Futoshi cried in panic, thinking that his friend would lose this.
Back at the duel, as Yuya recovered from the impact, instead of crying, he only laughed. "Hahaha! Wow! Didn't knew you were this lucky! You got me by that surprise!" He complimented Nate for his astonishing play, which made the Yo-Kai duelist fluster. Sure, it was quite long since he has received actual praise from his opponent after tortous days at the Academia. "Before ending my turn, I shall put my Swordfish and Hip Hippo into defense position and end my turn!" Yuya proclaimed as his monsters turned to be into a more defensitve posture. "I shall end my turn here."
"Well, that went quite well, I think…" Nate shrugged while rubbing the back of his head and drawing a card.
Nate's hand: 3
Once he took a good peek into his next card he drew, he knew he could easily turn this duel a lot in his favor. Which was a good thing, but first, he needed to consult Whisper about summoning something. Nate picked up his phone and began to call Whisper. "Hey, how's the scavenging doing?"
"Uhh… Well, I did found locations of cards scattered here and there, though Jibanyan has already gathered a good amount. But I'll be honest with you Nate, I'm still disappointed seeing you using such dirty tactics like this one." Whispered told Nate. Sure, the 3 of them don't want any busissness with this place, but this is just insultin when it comes to honor between duelists. Whisper then cut the call for his master to proceed his play.
"Well, I think I will consider that a yes." Nate sighted out before preparing his next move. "You wanted me to do a fusion summon right, then you'll have one! I summon Whispocrates the Slippery Yo-Kai!" He declared, slidding the Whisper card into his duel disc all while summoning Whisper in his more feudal-style clothing
Back with Whisper, he was still in the middle of piloting his drone, until the light of summoning enveloped him. "Wait! Not right now! I'm still not prepared yet!" Whisper wailed and flaied his arms as he disappeared from the upper side of the drone, as he was transported into the main battlefield in his usual Whipocrates appearance.
(LIGHT/Zombie/LV: 4/ATK: 1700/DEF: 0)
ZOOM!
CRASH!
The loud crash of one of the drones was heard all over the wild west as the impact left a barn nearby on fire. Though it was weird since the barn is digital mass. So can digitalized objects can be burned as well?
"Holy Ra! The stadium!" Shuzou cried in fear, watching the proterpty of You School burn. Well, if that would be considering burning property in the first place since it was just a psysical hologram.
"What is the problem with you Nate!? Someone could have been hurt if that drone hits any of you!" Whispocrated began to scold Adams for his reckless act. Which the teen only tried to apologized as soon as he could.
While this was happening, Yuya and the rest of the kids and You Show staff gazed odded at the white ghost and brunette boy's comedy show. It was kinda like a good comedy duo doing some sort of stand-up, which made the young ones laugh and Yuzu to release a soft chuckle.
"Ehh? Yeah, what's so funny about this?" Whisper wanted to know why everyone was laughing like no tomorrow.
"Ohohoho! It's just that it's funny how the both of you are arguing! It's just so funny seeing a monster complaining toward its duelist." Yuya laughed on what was happening to Nate and Whisper. Which was a bit funny considering that most monsters are mostly senseless, or that's what most duelists tink about.
"Nate, I give you full permission on kicking his as, RIGHT NOW!" The butler bellowed in anger seemingly very pissed off watching everyone around him laughing at him.
"Uhh... Okay then…" Nate responded awkwardly as he put aside his buddy for a brief moment to have some space to breathe. "As I resume, I activate Whispocrates' effect! When summoned, I can add either a Yo-Kai spell, trap or a Polymerization straight from my Deck!" he declared, as his Duel Disc quickly pulled Polymerization from his Deck, which creeped the hell out of him. He hoped it was just a mere coincidence that the AI just guessed that he wanted to pull off Poly from his deck instead of a more paranormal reason. Then again, his whole childhood and life has been surrounded by dead people, so why even thinking about those things? "You wanted me to play a Fusion, then you'll have one! I activate Polymerization from my hand!" Nate slid the Fusion card into his Duel Disc, causing the Fusion vortex to manifest behind him.
"Oh my Ra! He's about to do it! He's going to Fusion Summon!" Tatsuya hyped on about watching a duelist do a Fusion Summon. Watching someone summoning Fusion monsters from the Extra Deck is always amazing.
"So it begins…" Sora grinned while bitting the lollipop he had on his mout hard enough for the candy to break.
"I don't have the slightless idea how Fusion Summons are made, but just seeing Polymerization being used gives me a lot of shivers!" Futoshi shivered in excitement while wiggling his body in happiness.
"Geez… There's no salvation for you, isn't there?" Nate cringed on watching the youngsters being super-hyped about a summoning technique they say is too hard to comprehend, which is funny since it's not that hard to master. "A-anyway, let me see, let me see…" Adams took a quick peek on which Fusion to use today on the touch screen of his disc. "Aha!" He exclaimed as he began to invent an epic summoning chant for the next monster he was about to invoke. "Ehem… Dog with the face of men, combine with the master spirit tactician and open the gates of hell to give forth a teryfing spirit! Fusion Summon!" Nate began to chant as he began to fuse Whispocrates with a Manjimutt from his hand.
"Wait! I'm not ready! I'm not ready! AAAAAAAHH!" Manjimutt tried to back away from being sucked into the vortex once again, but his efforts were for no one's surprise, useless…
"Manifest! Spirit of the boar that haunts the hot springs at night! Sproink the Eerie Yo-Kai!" Adams called forth the middle-aged pig person as the Yo-Kai appeared above the water tower. Unfortunately, the tower seemed to not be able to resist his weight aas it began to crumble.
"Hot HOG!" Sproing cried before leaping into the grond as the waterfall fell down with him. Surprisingly, the water tower was the one to impact with the ground first, which flooded the entire town in water, though, not to the point of being some sort of wild west atlantis, as the level of water was enough to be a very, very, very, very large hot spring… And if you know Sproink, you know how he likes his baths…
Speaking of pigs, the Eerie Yo-Kai fell over the ground which made the ground shake due to his weight, not before his 2 wooden buckets fell over his head, causing him to grow a small cartoony bump, which that bump had another smaller bump. "God, I love myself some giant size hot spring! *Snort!*" The Yo-Kai snorted before picking up his buckets and do a wacky pose, announcing his entrance as he was in attack position.
(FIRE/Zombie/Fusion/LV: 7/ATK: 2500/DEF: 0)
The students of You Show and especially Sora were left with emotions of cringe, disaapointment and more negative emotions. They were expecting something more flashy, grandiose and badass. Not an oversized pig that looks like some sort of bathroom superhero.
"Believe me, I wished my cards looked cooler. Sheesh!" Nate sheshed in annoyment just before resuming his duel. "Anyways, Sproink's effect upon being Fusion Summoned activates!" The brunette duelist exclaimed while his Fusion monster began to turn red.
"I don't like people who can take the heat on my time on the tub, *Oink!* so when I'm Fusion Summoned, I can target a monster the opponent controls!" Sproink explained his effect before accumulating air and releasing it in form of fire, targeting Swordfish ready to transform the fish into fried fish.
"Gah! Not a chance!" Yuya quickly told Hip Hippo to search for an Action Card where he could get away from this predicament. The Hippo nodded as he rushed while carrying Yuya on his back, not before saving Swordfish by bitting the part to wield the sword and pushing the marine entertainer from the Yo-Kai's flames. "Hehe! Don't you think I would forget about you, little buddy!" Sakaki told his fish while now wielding it like a sword.
"And where do you think you're going?" Sproink continued to snort fire between his nose in order to fry up that goddamn fish. "I'm gonna *Snort* cook you up, even if this whole damn place catches fire!"
"Come on! There must be some sort of Action Card here I could use!" Yuya was searching between the town, as Sproink's flames were beginning to cause a mass burn-down of the town. Though, once one of the buildings turned completely into ash, it showed that there was an Action Card there. "Perfect!" The Dueltainer smiled in gleed as he leaped his way into the Action Card's location with an acrobatic flip and pefrecnlty landing on the pile of ash before picking up the Action Card! "Action Card! Law Enforce! If a Monster summoned upon the Extra Deck activates its effect, I can negate it!" Yuya's Action Spell then morphed into a Sheriff badge and threw it at the Boss Yo-Kai as a projectile.
Once the star laid impact on the Yo-Kai's belly, it seemed to not do nothing. "Was that suppouse to do something? *Oink*" Sproink seemed displeased about Yuya's petty attempt to stop him.
"Wha-" Yuya's words were taken out of him once he and swordfish were enveloped by the porky fire, wich resulted in Swordfish being cooked crispy and yummy, while Yuya and Hipp Hippo were mostly seemed fine since Real Solid Vision wasn't able to heavily injure the duelists. Actually, the fire felt mostly like a super-hot heat-wave coming for him.
"Haha! Sproink's pig skin prevents you from negating my Yo-Kai's effects!" Nate laughed arrogantly to boast himself some pride. Although, he turned to whisper later. "Don't you think it's very odd for him to find a super-specific card for this moment?"
"Well, how should I know? Perhaps it was mother luck or this fanfic's author was too lazy to think about a more natural way to show Sproink's second effect. You know how hard is to write duels, but Action Duels tend to be a writer's paradise." Whisper commented in secret. "By the way, is it me or someone's cooking hum… Oh…" Whisper pointed the obvoious as the water bellow them was slowly turning red.
"GYAAAAHHH! HOTHOTHOTHOT!" Adams cried as he quickly leaped on a very acrobatic way out of the flooded floor before he would end up as human stew. The acrtobac skills he shown left the kids of You Show minus Sora jaw-dropped.
"Holy Guacamole" Ayu gasped. "That guy is as skilled as Yuya and Sora. What sort of vegetables does he eat?"
"Man. Talk about a game of the floor is lava!" Shuzo said as he watched how the water turned into straight up lava due to Sproink's powers.
"Ahh! Now that's what I'm talking about. Nothing better than an Emperor-Size hot bath only for me…" Sroink sigthed out relief once he laxed into the Lava-like lake.
"Man, you're monsters are weird…" Yuya pointed at the oddity how Nate's monsters acted and reacted to their environment.
"Says the guy who's using wildlife with hats and bowties, don't you think?" Nate countered Sakaki's argument. Sure, his monsters were weird-looking, but at least the majority doesn't look all that childish. "N-No matter! Battle! Go Lionguist, roast that hippo! Bla Bla Bla Blaze!" Nate ordered his Yo-Kai which opened his diccionary and began babbling all sorts of foregein language, provoking a crack bellow the Hippo that was about to erupt in pure fire. But Yuya had already other plans.
"Not so fast! I activate my face-down Quick Play, Draw Muscle!" Yuya revealed his quick-play that was face-down this match. "If I only control a defense position monster, I can draw a card! And if I draw a monster, the targeted monster gains its Defense and cannot be destroyed by battle! Otherwise it is destroyed!"
"And here we go again with the bullshit moment-specific cards aint' it?" Nate was growing very tired about his opponent pulling cards that look like big gambles. But he has seen enough weird shit already prior to this events spiraling out of control.
Once Yuya drew his card, it revealed itself to be his Stargazer Magician. "Sweet! By drawing Strargazer Magician, Hip Hippo gains 2400 Defense permanently!" Yuya bellowed before the hippo tensed its muscles as its defense raised
(Performapal Hip Hippo/DEF: 800 – 3200)
Rather than the flames roasting the performer, they were deflected back at the Yo-Kai duelist by his unluckiness. "Of shit! Oh Shit!" He screamed In panick as he received recoil damage from the attack all while dodging the fire.
Nate's LP: 4000 – 3700
"Way to go Yuya!" Sora cheered on to his friend alongside the other youngsters of the academy after watching the dueltainer finally deal some damage to his opponent.
As for Whisper, well… Unlike Adams who dodged everything thanks to Sander's harsh and inhumane training sessions, the ghost looked now like some sort of toasty marshmallow. "No comments please…" He wanted his master to not say a single word, which Adams agreed on.
"Well, guess I don't have anything in turn. So I end it." He sighted out while sitting on top of a roof. "Well, even though I know I still not have won this duel, Sproink's inumity to negations, Robonyan equipped with Power of the Guardians and Lionguist's Language Barrier are enough to put my opponent into a bad situation. I have a high chance to survive this, unless that…"
Even when the odds were against him, Yuya only continue to smile. He knew he could win. "My Turn!" He cried while drawing his card with excitement, only to discover he drew his ace card. Maybe, MAYBE if he manages to use his new summoning method and win with it, Nate's dueling spirit would rise up again and he would finally smile again.
Yuya's Hand: 4
"Come on! There's must be a card here somewhere!" Sakaki began to ride his Hippo, jumping around over the roof in order to not fall over the lava, only to discover one of Nate's drones carrying a bunch of Action Cards, with Jibanyan only taking a cat-nap. "Perfect! Seems that my opponent's trick will be his defeat!" He exclaimed before his Hippo would leap high where the drone was, not before quickly activating his energy roller shoes.
"And he has roller shoes!? Come one! And they call me a cheater!" Nate complained how Yuya also used a gadget to facilitate the search of Action Cards while he was beign called out. Seems that you can do anything as long as you are the main character it seems.
"Eat this!" The Tomato teenager kicked the drone with one of his roller blades, causing him to malfunction and drop a rain of Action Cards.
"NYAAAAAAH!" Meanwhile, Jibanyan was yelling for his life before touching the lava and instantly jumping like a caricature back to the roof his master was located. "Nyow! Nyow! Nyow! My poor little tails!" The Nekomata blew where his 2 little tails were burning before the pain would go away.
As for Yuya, he picked the perfect card to turn the tables. "Action Card! Miracle Draw!" He declared as he quickly jumped over Sproink's head to later land on the roof a tavern. "By paying half of my Life Point, we both get to draw 2 cards!" Sakaki exclaimed all while his Life Points were now halved before drawing 2 cards on his deck.
Yuya's LP: 2300 – 1150
"Oh! Of course he gets the draw 2 cards action cards!" Nate complained more about fate's favoritism over the tomato boy before drawing 2 cards alongside Sakaki Yuya. "Though, I must admit, it was very badass seeing him kick the drone out of orbit!"
"Could nyou not compliment him!? I almost got purroasted to death and you didn't come to save me, Nyan!" Jibanyan fumed toward Nate for cheering his opponent from almost killing the ghostly cat.
With 6 cards in hand, it was the perfect time to finally activate the summoning method he has recently learned, or in better words, created! "Yes! With these monsters, I'm sure I will make Nate smile once again!" He cheered on him, just before taking a dramatic pose all while the rest of the dueling arena, only for a spotlight to flash over him. "Ladies and Gentlemen!" He said one of his signature lines while opening his arms to extend the dramatic effect. "It is the moment you all been waiting for! For me to make my opponent Nate Adams smile once more, I shall perform my new form of summoning method!"
"Wait! Did you said MY!?" Adams was intrigued how he said the sentence that with rather an A it was with a MY.
"Oh! Don't you tell me he's about to!" Ayu was already guessing what her friend was about to do right in this instant. Something that made the name Yuya Sakaki very prevalent now and day.
"Yes he will! He's gonna go for it!" Sora couldn't contain his excitement about watching his master perform the amazement that was going to make. It was something original and something ony Yusho's child possessed.
"Go Yuya! Go!" Shuzo began to cheer for Yuya for him to gain a new student and also some good publicity for this struggling dueling school.
"Alright!" Sakaki turned to his friends and latter watch again toward Adams. He first pulled 2 specific cards from his hand to show them. "I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 1 Stargazer Magician and Scale 8 Timegazer Magician on the Pendulum Scales!" He announced before slidding his 2 monster cards with orange on top and green on bottom into his duel disc's "Pendulum Scales", Making it show the word Pendulum on his orange blade.
"Wait! Scales? Pendulum Scales!? What the hell are you talking about? Is this even Duel Monsters anymore!?" The Yo-Kai Duelist was starting to lose his mind over the complicated rules being bombarded to his face. Since when Duel Monster come from just being summoning powerful monsters to just these over the top binary codes? But soon his concentration would break once he saw the 2 Magicians inside transparent light pillars with the numbers 1 and 8 bellow them respectively.
"Now I can summon monsters from levels 2 to 7 simultaneously!" Yuya declared before raising his hand to the sky, causing a giant pendulum to materialiaze between the light pillars, slowly swinging like well… A Pendulum…
(Stargazer Magician/Left Pendulum Scale: 1)
(Timegazer Magician/Right Scale: 8)
"Swing, my soul's pendulum! Draw an arc of light in the sky!" Yuya chanted his summoning while Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan being amazed by the sheer beauty of the swing of the pendulum and the show. It was making them forget the bad memories the Academia implanted on the kid's mind. Meanwhile, the Pendulum created a light circle bellow him, causing a portal to be summoned. "Come forth, my monsters!" Sakaki Yuya cried with passion as 3 commets landed on the roofs of Hell's River.
"Peformapal Raddish Horse!" Yuya exclaimed, revealing that one of the 3 monsters was well, a horse made out of radish, who was in defense position to be remind of.
(EARTH/Plant/Pendulum/LV: 4/ATK: 500/DEF: 2000)
"Performapal Cheermole!" Yuya then pointed at the second monster, being a small pink female timid mole wearing a cheerleader outfit and having pompons in each hand.
(EARTH/Beast/Pendulum/LV: 2/ATK: 600/DEF: 1000)
"Appear! Wondrous and beautiful dichromatic eyes! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya called forth now his main Ace monster being a red dragon with red and green eyes alongside red and green orbs attached to its "Wings", though the dragon seem to not really able to flap its withs to fly. Either way, Odd-Eyes unleashed a savage roar to announce its arrival.
(Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon/DARK/Dragon/Pendulum/LV: 7/ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000)
"P-pendulum S-sumon!?" Nate shit his pants (Non literally) after witnessing the beautiful yet mysterious new summoning method he has discover in front of his eyes. Nothing in the Academia has taught him about the Pendulum Summon, unless only the Professor and his most trusty subordinate already knew about it? Either way, he was caught out of breath once he withnessed such a summoning method. "Wait! Stop! Stop!" the Yo-Kai Duelist made a brief halt to the duel once again. "I-I can't believe that I'm really going to say this…" He grunted to himself while rubbing his 2 fingers between his eyes. "B-but did you just summoned a bunch of monsters in one turn?"
"Yes! Is there really any problem with that?" Yuya asked before getting off Hip Hippo.
"First off, you just pulled that summoning method right out your ass and now you summoned 3 monsters for free. I don't know about you, but I see a lot of red flags around that play. In other words, THAT'S AGAINST THE GODDAMN RULES!"
"Hah! If it would be against the rules, then why haven't I been disqualified?" Yuya made a very good point about his statement before proceeding with the duel. "But I still have more Jokers under my sleeves! I activate Radish Horse's effect!" He declared all while his horse monster stood up. "If Radish Horse was Special Summoned this turn, I can target a Special Summoned monster you control with 2500 attack or more and one monster I control and drain your monster's attack in half and transfer said attack points to a monster of mine!" Yuya explained as his equine friend charged a greenish light from its horn and shoot it against Robonyan.
The lazer ray impacted on the robot, causing many of his circuits to start malfunctioning. "SYSTEM ERROR! SYSTEM ERROR!" The Yo-Kai from the far future began to repeat as he began to twitch out all while his attack points were being drained.
(Robonyan the Tough Yo-Kai/ATK: 2900 – 1450)
"And the monster I choose to give those stolen Life Points go to Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya cried with passion as his dragon began to roar while he was enveloped by a red aura.
(Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon/ATK: 2500 – 3950)
"And to top it all off, I play this Magic Spell! Performance Hurricane!" Yuya showed his sixth card to play this turn being a spell card. "I can target cards you control up to the number of Performapal monster I control and return them to your hand! Well, that's what I really remember, I think…" Yuya still felt unsure about his English effects, but he still had to try. "Performapal Hip Hippo, Performapal Cheermole and Performapal Radish Horse! This makes 3 monsters that allow me to blow away 3 cards you control. And the cards I choose are, Robonyan the Tough Yo-Kai, Lionguist the Merican Mysterious Yo-Kai and Sproink the Eerie Yo-Kai!" Yuya cried before the apparition og the Spell Card created a musical storm that was blowing away the robot and the lion.
"Ahh! AAHH! Eso es todo amigos!" Lionguist cried before being blown away back into Nate's deck.
"Just remember my words! I'll be back!" Robonyan reminded Yuya before a portal opened behind him sending him back to the future with a thumb up that looked like more that the robot was just showing the middle finger, all while returning to Nate's hand.
"Way to go Yuya!" Tatsuya cheered for his friend over his amazing play and how he used Power of the Guardians against his opponent.
"I see! By using Radish Horse's effect first to transfer Robonyan's attack to Odd-Eyes and later use Performance Storm to blow away all of Nate's monsters, he not only managed to destroy Power of the Guardians, but also make his opponent vulnerable for a direct attack!" Shuzo recapped the turn as he watched the duel with pure awed.
"Go Yuya! Go!" Sora began to cheer up for his friend as he wanted the dueltainer to win.
"Don't think it will be enough to stop me! I activate Wigglin's effect from my hand!" Nate quickly reacted by activating the main member of the dancing trio from his hand, invoking the seaweed dancer over the giant pig's head. "If you were to activate a spell, I can show this card from my hand and target a Yo-Kai monster I control! Then I Special Summon Wigglin to the field to finally make my targeted Yo-Kai Inmune to Spells until the End Phase!" Adams bellowed while resisting the musical winds all while Summoning the Heartful Yo-Kai from his hand.
"All right! It's time to move that wiggly body of ours! Cha! Cha!" Wigglin exclaimed before blessing Sproink with a body as wiggly as seaweed, making him dodge the the gusts of Performance Hurricane. (Just to clarify, Wigglin is in Defense Position)
(Wigglin the Heartful Yo-Kai/WATER/Zombie/LV: 2/ATK: 1000/DEF: 0)
"Hey! Seems that Nate also doesn't want to give Yuya an easy win!" Futoshi cheered on seeing how the skills of Nate were now showing off.
"Hehe! Looks like you won't give me an easy time, won't ya?" Yuya swept his nose before continuing with his turn! "I activate Cheermole's effect! I can target a monster on the field and apply the following effect! If that monster's attack is higher than its original attack, it gains 1000 Attack! If it is lower, it loses 1000 Attack! Take it away cheermole! Cheer for Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Sakaki ordered his mole as she began to shake her pon pons, causing Odd-Eyes to pump up and roar even more intensively.
(Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon/ATK: 3950 – 4950)
"Eeep! It was a miracle you had wigglin on your hand Nate!" Whisper yelped to Adams as the 2 and Jibs were trembling in fear watching ow big and strong Odd-Eyes has become. Yet, he and his master couldn't stop feeling an aura coming from the dragon. It was similar to Yuri's Starving Venom, yet it felt pleasant somehow.
"All right!" Yuya said before jumping to mount the back of Odd-Eyes while holding himself from his dragon's back-horns. "Battle! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, manifest and unleash a beautiful flame against Sproink! Spiral Flame Strike!" Sakaki cried as Odd-Eyes jumped high before unleashing a crimson red spiral flame breath out of his mouth, coming out for the Fusion.
But Nate Adams wouldn't let this go with his arms crossed. He quickly located an Action card stuck in a wind vane with the image of Niwatori. He ran for the action cards and did almost-imposible gymnastic showing off his super-soldier skills again to the other before grabbing the action cards and doing a ballerina spin jump. "Action Card! Miracle! I can choose a monster I control and make it so I can't destroy by battle until the end of this turn! Also, any battle damage that I would take cuts in half." The Teenage boy exclaimed before landing on a wester carriage floating over the lava river. All while Sproink receiving the flame, but his skin didn't turn into bacon.
"Well, talk about a bacon saver. *Oink*" The Middle-Aged Yo-Kai snorted relieving that he's still alive.
"Even if that's the case, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's effect activates!" Yuya exclaimed while Odd-eyes' 2 crystal orbs began to glow. "If Odd-Eyes battles a monster who's Level 5 or higher, it inflicts double battle damage to you! Reaction Force!" Yuya shouted as Odd-Eyes' orb on his forehead began to glow an intensive light which made the already powerful Spiral Flame Strike become even more intense as it penetrated toward the Yo-Kai duelist. "In other words, you still take the damage!"
The trio of heroes quickly shielded themselves from the upcoming attack. Sure, it was super-strong, but luckily the attacks of Real Solid Visions of this dimension don't seem to be that hazardous as the ones from the academia.
Nate's LP: 3700 – 1250
"Man… If it wasn't for that Action card, I would be already dead…" Adams muttered to himself while rubbing the back of his head. It was strange, but he felt like some sort of pleasure of now dueling Yuya. He didn't dueled on a low-staked duel for a long time. But now that he's doing it right now, it felt… Amazing!
"Uhh… Nate, do you feel okay?" Whisper came closer to his taken down master, only to discover that he was beginning to laugh. But it wasn't a psychotic laugh either that recognized the sadistic Academia soldiers, but rather a pleasant and honest laugh of someone enjoying the game.
Adams quickly boosted himself upwards to stand up again with a smile on his face. "Hehe, congratulations Yuya, you did make me smile once again!" He said while doing a sarcastic round of applause, though his smile was a honest one.
"And that's not all! Radish Horse, attack Wigglin!" Yuya ordered his horse as the raddish animal began galloping his way toward Wigglin's direction, ready to bash the seaweed, which he managed to do destroying the heartful Yo-Kai."
"Although, I'm not planning to soften up against you! Now I'll go full-force, even if things don't look at my favor!" Nate's duel-thristy Alter-ego was beginning to take form, although it didn't carved for any type of blood luckily.
"In that case, then I'll let you taakwe this! I end my turn!" Yuya exclaimed, giving the spotlight to Nate this time in order for the teen to play his turn.
As for Whisper, well he only looked at Nate's determinated eyes for once and he was relieved that his master recovered some confidence on himself for once. "Hey Nate, seem that you got a bit happy recently. It was thanks to Yuya, wasn't it?" He teased adams all while proding one of his cheeks. "So anyways, now that you're back in action, what's the next plan?"
"The plan?" Nate mumbled for a while before looking back at the white ghost with a cocky grin. "Well it will be simple!" he said before crossing his arms and looking at the young spectators watching the duel. "Now that I think about it, maybe this place isn't that bad… Sure, it has some bat-shit crazy people in it, but then again… My life has revolved around bat-shit crazy people!" He then turned his eyes to see Yuya directly. "Hear me out! Even if you summoned you ace monster, doesn't mean that you have already won! I draw!" He exclaimed with excitement as he drew his next card to play.
Nate's Hand: 5
Once Adams looked on what he drew, he grinned. That is, only this will work if luck is on his side. But considering how many near-death experiences he watched between his eyes recently, he would atleast confirm that the mother of luck was on his side. "I'm feeling risky today, thus I'll play my continuous Spell Card Crank-A-Kai!" He exclaimed as he proceed to summon the giant oak of Mount Wildwood with the Cran-A-Kai behind him.
Woah! Look at that tree! You can see it's as old as dinosaurs!" Shuzo pointed, seeing how ancient the mighty oak was.
"And you know what they say about old age, it can be like a fine wine! I activate Crank-A-Kai's effect!" He exclaimed as he discarded Jibanyan from his hand. "By discarding a card from my hand, I get to draw a card from my deck. If it is a Level 4 or lower Zombie monster, I can Special Summon it, otherwise it goes to the Grave!"
"Huh, kinda similar to my toy vendor." Sora pointed while eating a bar of chocolate.
"Now, let's take a big gamble!" Adams exclaimed as he drew his next card, which made the stone vendor crank its level, popping off a stone capsule which when opened, it released a puff of smoke that revealed none other than the Space Otter himself USAPyon.
"Well lookie' here! Seem that we got quite da clown rodeo in our paws!" The Shady Yo-Kai exclaimed while spinning his carrot lazer gun before giving a smirk of confidence.
(DARK/Zombie/LV: 4/ATK: 1500/DEF: 0)
"How cute!" Ayu and Yuzu squeeled seeing how adorable the bunny with the space-suit was.
"And if you think that's adorable, I still have more adorable ghosts to charm you, but not this one! I now Normal Summon the general of the dead, Zombie master!" Adams exclaimed as he proceeded to summon a half-dead litch to his field
(DARK/Zombie/LV: 4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 0)
"But wait, there's more! Here's Zombie's master effect!" The brunette boy declared as the necromancer's 2 hand began to charge some sort of electricity. "Once per turn, I can discard a Zombie from my hand to revive a Level 4 or lower Zombie from either player's graveyard! Necromancy!" Adams declared by discarding Robonyan, which made Zombie Master's ability activate as the warlock then fired a purple lightning bolt into the ground, making a coffin raise from the ground. Once it opened, it was discovered it was none other than Dracunayn.
"Ahahaha! I've come to suck your blood!" The feline Vampire said, not before taking the blue painting, fake fangs and gothic cape to reveal to be Jibanyan all along. "Nah! Just meowsing with you y'all!"
(DARK/Zombie/LV: 4/ATK: 1600/DEF: 0)
"Wowsers! He only needed one single turn to even Yuya in monsters without even using a Pendulum Summon! This guy is good!" Shuszo was left surprised seeing how The Yo-Kai Duelist managed to catch up to the dueltainer without the need of Pendulum cards.
"Me and my monsters hold a great bond that traverse the life and afterlife! And this is noticed by USAPyon's effect! Wanna find out? Why not do it right now? Battle! USAPyon, whack that mole over there!" Nate ordered the otter to shoot the shy mole.
"Now I'll show yo' how we Texan otters deal with mole plagues!" The spaceman Yo-Kai said before charging his laser bean from his gun before shooting a whole barrage of lazer beams against the Performapal, leading into her destruction. Luckily, Cheermole was in defense position so Yuya doesn't receive any damage from the attack.
"And now, when USAPyon destroys a monster by battle while I control other 2 Yo-Kai monsters, I can target 1 card on the field and destroy it! Go USAPyon! Desintegrate Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Bunny Bean!" Adams told the otter while he fully charged his laser gun, making him blast a gigantic laser beam toward Odd-Eyes, destroying it in the process.
"What!? He just destroyed Yuya's Ace in one turn?" Shuzo dropped his fiery jaw once he saw how the stranger just disintegrated one of Sakaki's strongest monsters in an instant. Poor Odd-Eyes lasted for only one turn. Normally when Yuya summons his favorite card, he gets to stick around for at least 2 or 3 of his turns. Seems that this wasn't the Pendulum Dragon's day.}
"2 down, 2 more to go! Zombie Master, Beet that dead horse into the ground!" Nate then pointed at the horse, which the necromancer then fired its undead thunder against the equine, destroying it, with the rest of the bolts firing at Yuya.
"Don't tell me you said that pun." Whisper cringed on hearing Adams expressing such a cheesy joker.
"Yes, I did!" the Brunette said with a glee. He just couldn't wait the opportunity to waste. "Now go Jibanyan, go apeshit and destroy Hip Hippo!"
"Finally my chance to finally shine, nyan!" Jibs was actually glass that he was going to finally bust some heads after mostly being used as cannon fodder for the activation of Fusions or other cards. He jumped into the air to assault Hip Hippo from above. "Taste my Paws of Fury! NYANYANYANYA!" Jibanyan cried over the name of his signature attack as a barrage of kitty paws trained to crush trucks and were as quick as bullets overwhelmed the circus animal, leaving it into its destruction. Thus leaving Yuya wide open.
"Great job Nate! Now with no monsters to defend himself, our opponent is wide open for a direct attack from Sproink!" Whisper cheered on how well did his master recovered, even when his opponent brought up a summoning method from his ass. "Now finish it up and reclaim victory!"
Adams nodded in response before turning to see Yuya. "I have to admit, dueling you has been a good therapy method to reflect my descition to quit dueling or not." Adams sighted while looking at his surroundings and the crowd. "But, now that I think about it, dueling has done a lot of good things to me. So now I have made my decision. Even if I win this duel, I'm still pleased into staying in this school. Hope you don't mind having a Fusion user here."
There was a smooth silence surrounding You Show, until Shuzho quickly jumped out of the seat with a "WHAAAAAT!?" For seeing how Nate's mind was changed after just a single duel. Having 1 fusion user with sora was good, but now 2 plus another one with a never-seen before summoning method, this will put You Show Duel School very high on the monthly Duel School ratings.
"But now, it is time to make the curtain call! Sproink…" Nate snapped his fingers, which made the bigger Yo-Kai of the group snap from his porky slumber to go into psycho mode. He got up from the lava river and began running toward Yuya.
"Now you're mine piggy! *Oink*" Sproik violently snorted while sprinting toward the dueltainer like a breakless bullet train. He hopped high into the air to squash the boy with his hog rump.
But the kid was more faster as he quickly rolled his way to safety, taking use of the pig's impact which spring him into a nearby wind-mill who had and action card stuck. Yuya with his quick reflexes took the Action card in time to save his ass. "Action Card! Evasion! The attack is cancelled!" Yuya explained, which made Sproink's attack miss again, with the cost of the windmill being destroyed and devastated.
"Dognnabit!" Nate snapped his fingers on missing the mark. He though victory was in his grasp, but it managed to slip away. "Still, I doubt that you will be able to recover from this. I mean, you with an empty field against 4 monsters? Now, I'm not saying you can indeed recover from this, but it will take up a miracle to do so. Either way, I'll set a card face-down and I end my turn!" He boasted, thinking he had already won.
Oh, he was very wrong…
Yuya in response only looked down into the ground, before bursting out in a boastful laugh. "You sure are right! I can recover, even without using cards on my hand! Watch and learn!" Yuya exclaimed before drawing his next lucky card. "Draw!" He cried with full energy.
Yuya's hand: 2
He knew by the card he drew that he has this duel in the bag, that of course, if his morale and dueling spirit was in him. "I'm glad to finally return your smile that you lost Nate, and you've been a very tough opponent, hell even one of the toughest I see, I think… But don't think this is my curtain call yet, because the fun is only beginning!" He exclaimed with energy before the arena went dark for a spotlight to flash on his direction. "Ladies and Gentlemen!" He drove the attention of everyone present to himself. "Now watch me do the comeback of a lifetime and win this duel with the power of Pendulum! Let you be amazed by the event that shall return my 3 destroyed monsters back to the stage!"
"Uhh..? Don't tell me that you have Spirit Charge in hand!" Nate gasped before recovering his cool. "No, it can't be, and even so you don't have enough Life Points to revive all monsters in the Graveyard and you can't declare attacks the turn you use it."
"It won't be either necessary! Besides, when my Pendulum monsters leave the field, they go face-up to the Extra Deck rather than the Graveyard!" Yuya responded the boy's questions by showing his 3 Pendulum cards in the Extra Deck.
"Okay? It's not really that game breaking, since it will just restrict you from the beneficts from the Grave." Nate reaffirmed the disadvantages that having monsters in the deck rather than the grave has, this coming from a zombie duelist who knows it best.
"Wanna bet?" Yuya gleamed with joy before raising his hand in the air, which made the giant pendulum above him appear once more. "Swing Pendulum of Souls! Draw an arc of light in the sky!" Yuya chanted once again while the portal opened with radiance. "Pendulum Summon! Revive once again, my monsters!" He shouted, causing the 3 meteors of his monsters to be resurrected again.
"Peformapal Raddish Horse!" Yuya exclaimed, announcing the return of the radish horse once again.
(EARTH/Plant/Pendulum/LV: 4/ATK: 500/DEF: 2000)
"Performapal Cheermole!" Sakaki greeted his mole friend once again in the stage as she dug up a hole due to her being very timid.
(EARTH/Beast/Pendulum/LV: 2/ATK: 600/DEF: 1000)
"Revive once again! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya called forth his dragon again who made a wondrous roar to announce his heavenly return.
(Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon/DARK/Dragon/Pendulum/LV: 7/ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000)
"And they can be revived like that!?" The trio cried in confusion watching how Yuya easily recovered his monsters like nothing. "That's it! I'm calling it hax!" Nate was really beginning to hate these Pendulum cards considering them being very unjust.
"And if you're now familiar with Radish Horse's effect, you know what it comes! When Special Summoned, I can target a monster with 2500 attack or higher that you control and drain its attack to transfer it to one of my monsters!" Yuya declared all while Radish Horse charged his horn beam and fire it this time to the lava, which gave the result of it cooling down and returning to be normal plain ol' water.
"Uhh? *Oink* What's going on? Who turned off the heat?" *Sproink began to look around seeing how the perfect temperature for a spectral hog could suit him all going and turning into naught.
(Sproink the Eerie proink the Eerie Yo-Kai/ATK: 2500 – 1250)
With that, the remaining points go to Odd-eyes, who roared with intensity for the power boost.
(Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon/ATK: 2500 – 3750)
"Performapal Cheermole's effect activates!" Yuya pointed to his mole who began to cheer for Odd-Eyes. "When an effect of either bosting or lowering attack points activates, Cheermole can give an extra 1000 points in addition to the giving or taking!" He exclaimed while his Ace monster roared for his power boost.
(Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon/ATK: 3750 – 4750)
"Oh! Again!?" This is getting straight up annoying at this point!" Nate fumed his complains on how he just had an infinite amount of times to drain his monsters' attack and add them to odd-eyes. But well, he isn't a pro to be said himself, so ho is he to ask?
"Battle!" He exclaimed before riding Odd-Eyes' back once again. "Go Odd-Eyes! Burn everything with your wondrous eyes!" Yuya told his monster before it jumped into the air to charge its laser attack.
"As if hell I'll let you kill me this turn!" Luckily for our protagonist, he had a trap set. "Trap Card! Threatening Roar!" Nate opened his card in hopes to save his ass, unaware on how Yuya would correspond his attack.
"Timegazer Magician Unerstands space and time! Protect me with your precise power!" Yuya raised his hand as the magician on the pendulum scale with the gadget that looked like a duel disc began to activate its effect. "I activate Timegazer Magician's Pendululum effect!" Yuya announced while his magician's "Duel Disc" Began to extend until it formed a circular form. "Once per turn, when you use a Trap against a Pendulum monster, I can negate the activation! Inverse Gear With!" He exclaimed with passion as Timegazer Magician began to rewind time, unwinding Threatening roar back into face-down position.
"Oh boy, this is going to hurt…" Nate sighted as he and whisper embrazed themselves with open arms to receive the devastating final blow. But did he cared about losing? No. After all, he had a blast, and it was a hell long time since he enjoyed a duel.
"Spiral Flame Strike!" Yuyua cried out as Odd-Eyes expelled his fiery breath against the colossal pork of a monster, toasting him in the process.
"*Oink* I'm not ready to die again!" Sproink cried in terror while he was reduced to atoms by the attack and returning to where he was before he was summoned, all while Nate getting blasted away until he crashed against a pile of hay.
Nate's LP: 1250 – 0
Yuya Wins!
"Yay! Yuya did it once again!" Sora cheered on his friend for defeating the fusion user with his mighty Pendulum Summon.
"Well, seems that his stubbornness paid this time." Yuzu crossed her arms in relief for seeing her childhood friend pull it off once again with his slight idiocy.
"Woohoo! I'll go prepare the papers!" Shuzo was the most exited for Sakaki's victory as he rushed his way to his desk to complete Nate's registration.
Yuya felt great having praise being given to him, even if it was just his friends. No matter the situation, it's a dueltainer's target to entertain its audience. "Thank You! Thank You!" The tomato-haired duelist continually bowed to receive the compliments while the Solid vision vanished, returning the arena back to normal. Although, he quickly came toward nate to aid him and see if he had received any injuries, though it was almost imposible due to the security measures of the solid vision, but who knows? "Nate! Are you alright?" Yuya holded the boy's hand for him to get up. Once Nathan was up, he only looked to the ground a bit hollow. "Uhh… Nate, did I made you something bad?"
Once Nate recover some sense, he began to chuckle for a bit before bursting out laughing. "Wow! I've never felt so alive since the last time I have felt so alive!" He exclaimed while laughting, feeling the satisfaction of finally enjoying dueling once again.
Once the teenager expressed his feeling, the only thing that Yuya did is a smirk of satisfaction. "Father, if you're out there, I like to tell you that I've made a person recover his smile with my dueltaining. I'm gonna be sure to be the best dueltainer the world has ever seen and make everyone smile." He told to himself in his own mind while he watched Nate do himself some slight slaps to wake up.
"Goodness gracious Nate, talk about a flashy show." Whisper dusted off the debris on his body before lifting up a knocked up Jibanyan from the floor. "As for you Jibanyan, stop pretending you got knocked over! That attack dealt by that dragon only targeted Sproink, so there's no reason for you to act up."
"Nyahh… Nyahhh…" Jibanyan slowly purred during his dizzy state the coup de grace gave him and made him suffer.
"Man that duel was so heated up it almost gave me the mother of all shivers!" Futoshi came in alongside the other members of You Show to congratulate the 2 for giving such a spectacular duel out there. It was truly a duel that gave everyone a great time.
"Also your monsters are both strong and cute!" Ayu complied falling in love how some of the majority of the Teens' monsters were very huggable all while possessing devastating power.
"Well, they say that best things come in small packages, amirite?" Nate shrugged himself a bit flustered on being praised. "By the way, I can also say that you also fought too well. You know, for using circus animals as your main deck."
"Uhh… Is that suppose to be an insult or a compliment?" Yuya asked himself while scratching his chin, showing how clueless he was about what he was asked to.
"Yeah… Well they say that you should never ask a duelist about his archetype Nate." Whisper added, thinking on what his master said was mean, which it wasn't.
As for Yusho, he came in rushing like a mad locomotive with papers on his hands. "T-there! I have already signed you into the Your Show Duel School group of students! I hope you don't mind I made already some advancements. I was just a bit exited about joining us." Yusho lamented for signing Adams into the student body of the school without his permission. "But, can you at least help with your more personal information."
"oh, sure." Nate then began to write down his name, age, deck archetype and already matstered Summoning moethods. Though when he passed through the next paper, he noticed that the next pages were just copies of the application papers, and there were like hundreds of copies on it. "Man, you people sure are delusional…"
"Well, I'm sure those papers will fill up once you begin to come here more often." Yusho added out. "By the way, I hope your parents are okay with you staying on this duel school without their consent."
"Oh well, there's a problem with that." Nate drew the attention of the group to himself as he looked a bit flustered. "I-its just that I don't have a home to live in…" He flustered while rubbing the back of his head.
"WHAAAT!?" The entire group gasped on what he told them.
"Well, the point is that I need a place to live in. Hell! Even if it's the attic of the school I'm fine with it." Nate clarified that he didn't asked for the most luxurious stay on a mansion. With just a wooden shack was alright.
Yuzu thought it for some seconds. That boy could speak with those spirits and even it seems that he has good relation with him. What it ticks her off more on her is that she and him can only see them outside duels while the others can't. Perhaps it's the best descition to let her stay on her home. "Hey! Maybe you could become my roommate on my home. How about that dad?" Yuzu turned to her dad to se if he would approve a stranger staying in his house.
"Well of course! Anything to help one of my students, amirite?" Shuzo really wanted to get into Adams' good side, so he accepted his daughter's request without doubts. "Though, I just hope you don't mind staying in Yuzu's room. Don't worry, we have a spare futon for guests."
On what they told him, it made the Yo-Kai duelist a bit nervous. He was about to share bed with Yuzu, a girl she barely met. He didn't want to have any bad ideas with Katie if he theoriracly returns into his dimension, that is, if they don't consider him a renegade criminal anymore. "N-no, I don't mind…" He muttered a bit nervous, having a slightly jealous Yuya behind him, and he had his good reasons for being like that.
"Great! I'll make sure we make a welcoming feast for our new patron here!" Shuzo beamed seeing how well this day was for everyone. "Hope you like waffles!"
"Hey! Welcome to the club! It's nice having another Fusion user around here!" Sora cheered as he hugged Nate with a bear hug, happy on finding another Fusion friend for him.
"Hey! By the way, we should duel another time!" Yuya asked Adams about a rematch if the vchance was given. Nate nodded at the response while the You Show kids joined the group hug to greet their new classmate.
(Hiragi Residence/Miami City/Standard Dimension)
"Let's eat!" The 3 declared before diggin' in on the sushi Shuzou recently ordered. Yuzu was impressed about Nate's ettiquete on the table. Whenever she ate alongside Yuya or any of the boys, they usually eat like pigs on a harvest faire, but not him. He ate the pizza like a normal person.
"So anyhow Nate, so where are your parents exactly? I just hope they aren't worried about going missing or anything like that." Yuzu's dad questioned the kid's mom and dad's absece.
"Oh yeah, don't worry! It's not that I'm an orphan or anything." Nate wiped out any allegations that he was a runaway child. "It's just that I'm considered responsible enough to go all by my own. Not that surprising." Nate lied all while taking a piece of sushi inside his mouth.
It was surprising, but the father and daughter were gullible enough to believe that made-up story, which was odd. Nate already though that his half-assed excuse would not even convince them. But then again, it was that or just tell them that he is a person from another dimension and then be thrown into a mental hospital.
"Wow… I can't believe those people were too dumb to believe that." Whisper was impressed on the aloofness of the 2 of them, still eating sushi like nothing happened. Of course, he whispered that to Nate knowing that Yuzu was capable of seeing and hearing them.
"Nye, if it help us have a low profile, its fine by me, nyan." Jibanyan added while stacking up piles of sushi rolls and then swallow them whole as if he was Garfield. Could it be that the 2 are related to some sort?
"Jibanyan, could you at least have some education? Just because you're a natural spirit that most humans can't see doesn't mean that you can eat like a damn swine." Nate tried to talks to his feline friend about having some decency into having table manners, despite being invisible to most human eyes.
"Nyeeh… You said it buddy, if they can't see me, I can eat it." Jibanyan added all while cleaning his fangs out of the food stuck within them. But it didn't took that long for Adams to knock some sense into the lazy cat by forcing him to look directly at Yuzu, who seems disgusted by the lack of etiquette. Seems that Nate was right this time.
Time later, Nate has already on Yuzu's room with her. Sure, he was foreseeing a girly room with its decent amount of pink, yet the room had posters of the Dark Magician and Gagaga Magician and Hell! She even have a shelf full of One Piece volumes! "Man! You have all volumes of One Piece by date?" Nate would only admire in awe all of Yuzu's collection of the best selling manga.
"Yeah, it's kinda of a secret I hide from Yuya and the others. So I hope you don't tell them." Yuzu told Adams about her secret hobby about the Strawhat boy. "Anyways, do you have any favorite character? My favorite's Zoro! Have you seen him…" What happens next is just a full wave of gigantic spoilers flooding Nate's poor innocent mind. A timeskip? Haki? Hoody Jones? Not even Spoilerina was there and his experience reading the manga was now fully destroyed. And his world barely began the Ennies Lobby arc! "So anyways, do you also have a favorite arc?"
For the whole thing, Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan dropped dead into the floor for the mass amount of spoilers they were being blasted with like a fully-loaded machine gun tearing the 3 of them a new one.
"Gyaaaah!" Yuzu quickly shrieked in terror from seeing the murder scene she has committed. "S-so sorry for that! I didn't knew you haven't catched up to the recent chapters!" Yuzu feeling absolutely guilty from snatching out any sense of enjoyment from reading the pirate manga, began to apologize one million times.
"No, it's okay…" Despite his voice sounding a bit raspy, Nate got up just as fine. "It wasn't your intention. My home country is too far from the big city that its hard to get any new manga chapters." Nate did at least an excuse to make Yuzu feel better. "Anyway, what's with the magician posters? Don't you think it doesn't really fit with the whole pink aesthetic of the room?" Nate wondered about the posters sticking of the walls of the pinkette's room.
"Oh… about that…" Yuzu's voice began to become a bit more serious. Were those posters really personal to her perhaps? "It's just a silly card crush I have with the Dark Magician. That's all." Yuzu confessed having the Dark Magician as his husband while blushing and rubbing the back of her har.
"Man… Girls sure are as complicated as you guys, don't you?" The brunette teen then looked at whisper and jibanyan, seeing how women can be a mystery. I mean, he has been dating Katie over his child hood all up to being accepted by the Academia.
Time later, both Yuzu and Nate were on their pajamas and resting on their beds. Though, it didn't mean that their conversation about a certain topic didn't come up to the table.
"Hey Nate, are you still awake?" Yuzu who awoke in the middle of the night asked her roommate if he wasn't slept yet.
"Yes?" Asked Adams who was enveloped by the futon he was using to sleep.
"It's about those 2." Yuzu then referred to Whisper and Jibanyan respectively. "I don't know why only the 2 of us are able to see them. Are those 2 really duel spirits or something else?" Yuzu asked herself. Because if they were Duel Spirits, she would already saw much more. But who knows?
"Oh right… about them…" Nate then looked at Jibanyan and Whisper and later Hiddabat who was still resting inside his backpack, the 3 of them were having a good trip into dreamland. "I swear, don't call me anything like the old man nate or anything, but… Those 2, aren't duel monster as legends say. They're something much more… Supernatural…"
"How so?" Yuzu raised an eyebrow.
"Well, let's say that a lot of unexplainable things happen in your everyday life. Did you forgot something important? Did your perfect tip of the ice cream just didn't have that exact swirl the poster of the procut tells you it has? Did you recently have a déjà vu? Or perhaps you remember something wrong like you swore the name of a childhood book was different? Well, you may have been inspirited by a Yo-Kai."
"A Yo-what?" Yuzu was clueless on what her roommate was referring to.
"Well, those 2 are that, Yo-Kai. Supernatural entities responsible of many of our everyday problems and even supernatural occurrences that science can't comprehend or understand. Have you heard the folklore stories about the Nekomata? The Gashadokuro? The Karakasa-Obake? Well, theorically are true, but they're also not." Nate finished up his explanation on the world of Yo-Kai as clear as he could. He could have asked Whisper about introducing their friend into their abnormal world, but the white ghost tends to act very sour when he's woke up at midnight.
Yuzu thought it for some seconds. Thinking about the zombie duelist's unusual cards and how they acted independently and more human-like rather than just as normal monsters made out of Solid Vision. "Then those monsters you summoned to duel Yuya, they weren't projections? Were those the real deal?"
"Huh… seems that you cracked out the puzzle more quicker than I expected." Nate replied. "Though, I'd like to at least have this secret between the 2 of us until I'm confident enough to tell them the truth. I keep yours while you keep mine. Sounds like a plan?" Nate asked Hiragi about the both of them keeping the each other's secret, well… a secret.
"Anyways, sorry for interrupting you from your sleep. Good night." Yuzu told Nate before going to bed again to have her fantasies about Yuya Sakaki.
"Oh yeah… Night…" Nate replied, but he didn't rested again. Instead, he brought up a Polymerization card to look at it, reflexting on eveththing that has happened since then. "First I get admitted into the best dueling academy in the world out of the blue, oonly to discover that they're a terrorist group, I've almost turned into a Yo-Kai again 2 times. They also were on the point of making me into a psychopath, and now I'm a fugitive stuck on another dimension." Nate thought to himself while turning his head to look at Jibanyan and Whisper sleeping. "I just hope that my friends and parents are okay…" He echoed on his mined before looking back into the fusion spell. "Man… On what hot mess did I plunged myself into this time…?"
(LDS Tower Presiden Office/Miami City/Standard Dimension)
At the top of the Leo Dueling School tower, founded by the Leo Corporation created by Leo Akaba before taking over the Academia, it resided what it appears to be a young boy on his early 20s. It was Reiji Akaba, the current CEO of the entire Corporation who was plotting to overthrow his father's twisted ambition for abandoning him and his mother. Beside him, there was his adopted sister Reira Akaba, one of the best students of the academy.
"Mr. Akaba, may I have permittion to enter?" A knock on the door with a voice asked her superior. "We've got new reports on the You Show Duel School."
"Make it fast. Though, you can take your time if it comes from Yuya's Pendulum Summoning." Reiji responded. Ever since Yuya showed off the enigmatic Pendulum Summoning to defeat the current champion Strong Ishima, he and her mother were keeping a fat eye on Yusho's school and see if they can implement the new summoning method into their classes and now have a chance against his father's Fusion Soldiers.
"It's much more important than that, sir." The female secretary told Reiji while opening the door. She scrolled her tablet she had on her arms to show the recent images about You Show's new student. "It's about You Show Duel School's newest student Sir. His name is Nate Adams and he uses some sort of Zombie-Type Deck."
"What type of Zombie-Type Deck?" Reiji raised an eyebrow. What he heard is that the Zombie type in Duel Monsters are a very powerful type of monsters that specialize into bringing their monsters back from their Graveyard. When it comes to Extra Deck plays, the undead are the perfect candidates for Synchro Summon duelists by cards like Plague spreader Zombie and Uni-Zombie.
"It's, a Fusion-centric Deck about Yo-Kai." The secretary commented, which made Reiji skip a beat for a moment.
"Yo-Kai? That's odd…" The last time he heard about these Yo-Kai was on a mythology book on the library of the Leo Dueling Institute, but he never heard about a Zombie fusion deck, much less a Yo-Kai archetype. He quickly opened up his laptop to search those Yo-Kai cards and see if they were registered in the main Leo Corporation computer that keeps track of all printed cards by date. He searched and searched, but he wasn't able to find any information about a Yo-kai card except by the Mayakashi Archetype. "I see… Inform our branches to update our main database to include the new student's cards. We'll see if they're legal or not, and make sure to register him into our main duelist database."
"Understood." The female worker bowed. "But there's also something important you should know about the boy sir." The assistant then dropped a proyection about images of the boy the official Leo Corporation camera that keeps track of all duels all across Miami City. "It was hard to track this duel since our computer could only use Yuya's deck as our main source since he posseses a duel disc officially manufactured by our corporation. The problem is that You Show's new student's Duel Disc has a particular shape to it."
Reiji took a good look into the pictures, only to widen his eyes by the look of Nates' Duel Disc. "An Academia Duel Disc…" Reiji easily managed to recognized the hero's shield-shape disc on his wrist. Could it be that Leo sent a mole to spy on the Standard Dimension to analyze the place and plan their upcoming invasion? Whenever he could be that case or not, he needs to keep and eye on him.
"That's not all, our researches also discovered a huge Fusion energy coming from Yuya and Nathan's recent duel." The secretary then projected an image showing the Fusion signals coming from You Show, with the eye of it having the form of Polymerization. "But the strangest thing, is that this Fusion Energy feels, Supernatural…"
Reiji's interest over the boy increase over the fact that his fusion energy seemed out of this world. He could see that the energy coming from his fusion summons resulted to be spiritual-like rather than artificial. "Excellent. Be sure to advise our branches to keep an eye into Sora Shui'chin and Nate Adams until they notice something more unusual."
"Yes, Mr. President." The Secretaty said her last words before leaving the office.
Reiji meanwhile, kept his eyes on the teenager. It was his wrist watch he was carrying with him that also raised his interest. "Nate Adams. Just, Who are you…?"
