Lump- part 2
bobbiejod asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch1413 "Lump" where Snow accompanying Emma to the hospital whilst she has tests done. Snow sees Emma freaking out, so she calls Charming to come down and help her after she explains what's happening. Snowing sit with her and comfort her as the test results come back. Trigger warning for discussions of cancer.
Snow had never felt Emma squeeze her hand more tightly. She was shaking all over. Snow was too, although she was putting on a brave face. Snow had gone with Emma to all her appointments so far. She had been there when Whale explained the procedure for checking out Emma's lump, and now here she was at the mammogram with her.
"That feel ok?" The mammographer asked.
"I've got something flattening my boob. It's not going to be the most comfortable." Emma said through gritted teeth. Snow gave the doctor an apologetic smile. Emma was just becoming defensive because she was so scared. It didn't make it right, but the doctor understood. She saw it all the time.
"We'll get this over with as quickly as possible, sorry, I know it's a bit uncomfortable." The doctor said gently.
"Thank you." Emma said more kindly, feeling guilty for snapping. She looked over at her mom, scared. Snow stroked her thumb over the back of Emma's hand repeatedly.
"You're doing so well." Snow told her. Emma didn't respond. She was so focused on keeping herself together.
Two weeks later
Having the test done was one thing. Getting the results was another. Snow sat in the waiting room whilst Emma sat shaking violently beside her.
"I can't do this." Emma croaked. "Mom, what if…what if…"
"Don't do that to yourself." Snow told her. "We don't know anything yet." Snow reminded her, but Emma was too high to come down now. Holding one arm around Emma, Snow pulled out her phone. Charming needed to be here. Emma needed him. They had always wondered whether it would be better with them both there. The only reason Charming had stayed away was because Emma didn't want to leave the station unmanned.
"Charming, we need to go to plan B." Snow told him. Charming understood. She needed him at the hospital.
"I'll be right over." Charming promised. He paged Grumpy on his way out, telling him the dwarves would be in charge for a few hours. Emma needed him, that was far more important.
Emma was still shaking by the time Charming arrived at the station.
"Hey princess." He said gently. He came over and pulled Emma into a hug. He could feel how shaky she was. "I'm here." He promised her, kissing the side of her head. "Whatever happens, we're here. It's going to be ok." He promised her. Charming was still hugging Emma when the doctor came out.
"Emma Swan?" She called out. Emma looked over, eyes wide with fear.
"I can't do this." She whimpered. Charming took her hand, squeezing it.
"You can." He told her. "Because you won't be alone." Emma felt almost numb as her dad gently led her by the hand into the room with Snow following behind. Emma sat down in the chair with her parents either side of her. Her legs felt like jelly.
"We can do this alone, if you'd prefer." The doctor offered.
"No." Emma said quickly. "No, I want my parents here." The doctor nodded. She smiled at Emma.
"I don't think this will take long, Miss Swan. Your tumour is benign." The doctor explained. Beside her, her parents cried out in relief. Emma didn't know what to do.
"So…it's not cancer?" She asked, wanting confirmation. The doctor shook her head.
"You don't have cancer, Miss Swan." She told her. Emma suddenly started to cry. She'd been so worried. Snow pulled Emma into her arms.
"You're ok." She told her. "We told you. You're ok."
"So, what happens now?" Charming asked. The doctor explained what would be happening next for the benign tumour. Luckily for Emma, her parents were there to just about take the information in. She couldn't. She was too relieved. She was going to be ok.
