Sinkhole

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma falling into a deep pit and it takes a while to rescue her. When she gets out, she is injured and only partially conscious. She's rushed to hospital, even though she puts up a fuss. Snow won't leave her side. One line will give a 6b spoiler! I'll give a warning of the paragraph containing it.

"Why isn't she out yet?!" Snow yelled, trying to stay still. Emma had fallen down the sinkhole that had suddenly appeared over five hours ago. They had no way of knowing what sort of state she was in down there.

"Patience, sister." Grumpy told her. "If we rush things, we could just make things worse for Emma, which nobody wants."

"You're right, Grumpy, thank you for all you and your brothers are doing." Charming said, steering Snow away for a moment.

"I know it's difficult, believe me, I know, but you need to stay calm. Badgering the dwarves won't get our daughter up any faster."

"I know, Charming, but I'm just so scared." Snow admitted. "Nobody has been able to get in contact with her for hours. That was a long fall…"

"Hey." Charming said, wrapping his arms around Snow. "Emma will be fine. She's tough, like her mother."

"The harness is ready!" Grumpy called over to them. Snow and Charming were over in an instant.

"Send me down." Snow pleaded. "I need to know that she's alright."

"Snow, you'll see her when she's up. Let me take this one." Charming said, his hands on Snow's waist. He gently pressed his lips to hers. "I can get her up here more safely than you can. She'll need you when we're up." Charming said. Snow bit her lip. She knew that Charming was right. She nodded. Charming kissed Snow once more before the dwarves helped him into the harness. Snow stood at the edge of the hole with bated breath.

It was the most tense ten minutes of Snow's life. But eventually from the bottom of the hole came a faint voice echoing up.

"She's awake!" Cheers rippled out from among the crowd. Snow's heart was, however, still hammering. She wouldn't be happy until both her husband and her daughter were back on the surface again.

Another ten minutes of carefully manoeuvring Charming as he carried Emma back up. Snow was one of the people who helped get Emma over the edge so Charming could clamber up himself.

"Emma?" Snow asked, holding Emma's torso on her lap, cupping her cheek. Her eyes were open, and she clearly had some level of consciousness, but she also clearly wasn't fully with it. "Sweetheart, do you know who I am?" Emma gave a lazy smile.

"Mom." She said in a slurred voice. One of Snow's tears hit Emma's hair. She nodded.

"That's right baby." She said as Charming came over. The paramedics also came over with a stretcher.

Spoiler paragraph warning, skip down if you don't want to see it.

"We're going to need you both to step back for a moment." One said. It killed them, but they did as they were told. Emma didn't realise what was going on. "You've had quite the fall, Mrs Jones." The paramedic said lightly. "We're going to take you in to the hospital now and the doctors and nurses are going to see you're right as rain in no time." The paramedic told her. Emma's eyes darted around. Snowing saw that and it made them immensely uncomfortable until she was on the stretcher and they could come take her hands again.

"Hospital?" She slurred. Her parents nodded.

"Yeah honey. You've had quite the day." Charming told her.

"N-no." Emma stammered. "Need to go home. I'm fine." Snow and Charming couldn't believe it. She'd fell down a sinkhole, been trapped for several hours, and was still trying to refuse to go to hospital.

"Well, we'll late the doctors decide that." Snow told her. She and Charming walked with her and got inside the ambulance with her. They each had an ironclad grip on one of Emma's hands. This had been far too scary an event for any of them. Snow and Charming now refused to leave Emma's side unless absolutely necessary. They both knew they weren't out of the woods just yet.
