The door knocked. "Go away!" shouted Katniss. "Oh, what is the matter, my pet?" asked her dad. Katniss stared at him. "The matter? Oh, just the fact that you kidnapped every mutant in a school! Oh and you blamed some other mutant for what I did, but apart from that, I'm fine!" Said Katniss. Darling, I know what will cheer you up! It's your birthday tomorrow, isn't it?" asked her father. "Oh I've being feeling like, I mean, I didn't notice." She said. "Right, what if we had a big party?" Katniss looked at him. "Well—" Her dad cut across her. "Think about it! We might even get you a boyfriend! You know, a really high upper-class party!" Katniss continued to stare. "I thought you lost your liking for 'upper-class parties when Magneto tried to turn us all into mutants?" asked Katniss. "Well, I will take the chance for my little girl!" Katniss scowled. "Since when am I little?" she shot back. There was a knock on the door and some man in a suit came in. "Mr President, you are late." He said. "Right you are. Katniss stay here. Your father will sort everything out." He said as he rushed out of the room and closed the door. Katniss stood there for a second and then said, "I do what I want." And opened the door and walked out. She was looking around when she came past a security room. She stood beside the door and someone walked out. She went invisible. They had left the door ajar. Still invisible, she put her foot in the space between the door and the wall. "Here, Jim, the doors open." Said a man. "Aww, I'll do it." Said Jim and he got up and smashed the door against Katniss' foot a few times. "Damn, what is wrong with this thing?" He grunted. Katniss managed to supress a scream. Jim stood back for a second and Katniss snuck in. "Let me try this again!" Said Jim, angrily. "Jim, it's not going to work—oh, it worked." Jim walked back to his seat, triumphant that he closed a door. "Great. Look at them, every time they touch the bars they get electrocuted. And we had to take the old man's wheelchair. They could have used that against us! Oh and everything is plastic, for obvious reasons." Said the other man to Jim. "Right, but that, 'Mr President' has ordered a huge electrical party! The electric will be off for like three minutes and- twenty-three seconds. Tomorrow night. What a spoiled brat that Katniss is, wanting a huge party like that!" Jim nodded. "All because she survived a day with some stupid mutants! Kidnapped. Yeah right. She is mean. With her words, I mean. I heard her father talking how ungrateful she was and how she practically threw daggers at him! It might be nicer!" said Jim. "Apparently, he wants to send her off to Harvard or something! Isn't that a university?" asked the other man. "It is." Agreed Jim. "She must be clever." Said the other man. "Either that or her father is paying huge amounts to get her in." Said Jim. "Yep, probably that." Agreed the other man. A other man walked in. "The mutants secure?" asked the newcomer. "Ready to go in three days' time to the Pentagon!" Said Jim. "Apart from the kids. They are staying?" asked Jim's friend. The newcomer nodded. "Good job, and how long will the electricity be down there?" he asked. "Three minutes and twenty-three seconds!" cried Jim. "Glad to see you so enthusiastic!" said the newcomer. Jim nodded. "We'll have double security down there then! Good day!" and the man left, with Katniss following closely behind. She went down to the basement. She didn't even know that they had a basement when she had been arrested a few days before. She was still invisible; she had an idea that her father would find it amusing to be down with 15 mutants that, in 3 days' time, would be moved to the Pentagon. "Breaks over. Where is John?" complained a guard to the one. "Dunno. Been here the same as you." Said the other guard. The first guard grunted. "Pete's also gone. D'you reckon he's alight?" asked the second guard. "Alright. Not alight!" said the first one. "Sorry. Did you hear that?" Katniss had tripped over a small pipe and swore silently. "Yeah." Said the first guard. "Should we—" The second guard began. "No! Do you know how much trouble that might cause!" The first guard said angrily. "Keep your—did you hear that?" The first guard glared at the second one. "THERE WAS NOTHING!" He yelled. "Humans and their yelling." Thought Katniss. She turned a corner and saw the worst thing possible. Warren was at the other end of the cell. She quickly used The Professors power and sent a message to every mutant in the basement. "Warren!" it said. She could see Warren and a few others jump, "Who said that?" asked Warren. "Who do you think?" asked Katniss. "Katniss?" he asked. "Shut up!" hissed Katniss. "What?" he asked. "There is going to be a gala tomorrow night." Said Katniss hurriedly. "And?" he asked. "The power will be off for exactly three minutes and twenty-three seconds." She said. "OH, now I see your point." Said Warren. "What time?" he asked. "6:30!" she said. "There is some German couple and they have three sons! I know for a fact on the letter that they were recommended to take spare clothes." Warren looked puzzled. "What does that have to do with anything?" he asked. "CAUSE YOU CAN PRETEND TO BE THEM!" Hissed Katniss. "Oh, but why can't we just leave?" Asked Warren and several others nodded. "Oh, I don't know, maybe because twenty mutants walking through the Whitehouse that are meant to be trapped in a basement and are meant to be moved to the Pentagon in three days' time is not going to attract any attention!" Hissed Katniss, loudly enough that everyone could hear. "Oh, wait WHA-" Katniss glared at him. "S-H-U-T I-T!" She hissed. "God what is wrong with you?" asked some strange man. "Who are you? Oh, because the Gala is for me! For my birthday and he honestly wants me to get some boyfriend with rich parents!" Warren looked horrified. "But you are a defenceless 11-year-old!" He said. "She's fourteen!" Said James. "Hey! No talking!" Yelled a guard. "What is with the humans and their strict rules?" asked Katniss. She turned around and ran quietly back through the basement.
