' This is it. I'm fucking done! The one time in my fucking life where I think everything's going fine, it's all been a lie! You know what? Why do I even try? Nothing ever goes right for me! Why can't I get my way for once?!'

Twin Pact

Chapter 1

" Where is it? Where is it? WHERE IS IT?!" Glenda shouted to herself while frantically searching her locker for her Pre-Calculus text book. She had three minutes till her advanced math class and she couldn't find it anywhere. She must've left it at home. Fed up, she punched her locker after slamming it shut, leaving a surprisingly big dent. Two girls next to her jumped and shuffled away from her.

She rolled her eyes. The halls were filled to the brim with students socializing with one another before their next class. It was as if they were piled on top of each other. That's how filled the hallways were. But as Glenda tried to maneuver through the crowd, a good number of students scattered away from her. Soon after, there was a huge gap between her and the remaining student body.

Wide eyed, she looked around at the students who moved away from her. They all looked intimidated by the girl donned in pink from head to toe. 'Nothing new.' she said under her breath as she walked to class.

Alone.

She missed walking with Glen. Since she took more AP classes than he did, the twins shared very few classes with each other, leaving Glenda to walk to class by herself. And with fewer classes with each other, Glen started hanging out with other people. And Glenda? She just stuck to herself. Friendships were never her strong suit. She knew how to make friends. But keeping them was the problem. At some point, her personality would become too much for them to handle. There wasn't a day where someone or something didn't rub her the wrong way resulting in her going off.

'She's crazy.' they would spread around school to every student. Eventually, nearly everyone in school minus her brother either were scared of her or didn't like her. Even her cast mates in theater were afraid of her.

And with no friends, there's definitely no chance at her getting a boyfriend. Boys were terrified of her. She couldn't even smile at one without them running off. She felt her fingers curl tightly around the strap of her backpack, and she noticed that she had stopped walking and was standing in the middle of the hallway. Her eyes were trained to the ground. Her face was hot. Her jaw clenched. She squeezed her eyes shut. She could hear the students whispering around her. And over the whispers, she could hear and feel this rising force in the back of her mind. Like a stove with pots on top of pots forced to sit on the back burner. Each pot represented her emotions, her thoughts, her memories. Everything she'd hear, everything she'd feel were in those pots.

In these moments, she would always hear her father's voice in her head.

'Just breath, kid. Just like I taught you.'

She breathed in.

Then out.

And with that, the noises would get softer.

She looked up, keeping eyes forward, and walked to class. Completely oblivious of the boy who stood at his locker, watching her the entire time.

Glenda sat at her desk with her eyes in her notebook. She wasn't writing anything down, she was just staring at the blank page. Distracted by the clanging of pots in the back of her head. The sound of them being slammed onto the stove. Not caring whether their contents would spill over. Especially the one's that were already there, what was in them had crusted and molded after years of neglect. She always told herself she would get to them. That she would clean them. That she would pour them out. But she never did because she couldn't...no. She wouldn't. She didn't want to endure the pain of dealing with them.

" Glenda?"

Her head shot up. Her teacher was standing in front of the board with a long equation written out.

" Yes, ma'am?" She said, sitting up straight.

" Did you solve the problem on the board in your notebook like I instructed?"

Glenda looked back down at her bare notebook and grimaced at the snickers and whispers behind her. " ...no."

" Glenda, you're one of my best students, but just because you have the highest grade in this class doesn't mean you can slack."

Glenda felt her pencil snap within her grip as the snickering grew louder. "...I know." She picked up her pencil and got to work.

" What's the matter, Glenda?"

Glen had been watching his twin play with her food for the past ten minutes. After filling her tray, she sat down and been in that position ever since. She rested her cheek in the palm of her hand as she twirled her spoon around in the mushy goop with the other. She'd repeatedly bite the inside of her cheek. She had a glazed, unfocused look in her eye.

She looked up at her brother. He was worried. She knew that. Though she hated it, he could read her like a book.

"I'm fine." She said, returning her gaze to the scattered remains of her school lunch. A few curly strands of hair fell into her face.

His eyebrows scrunched together. He pushed his tray to the side. " C'mon Duchess." He reached over and tucked some hair behind her ear. " You know I know when something's up. What's wrong?"

" I'm...fine." She added venom to the last word.

" Glen-"

" I SAID I'M FINE!" She exclaimed, slamming her hands on the table. He didn't flinch. The anger in her eyes was easily recognized by her brother. He looked at her with only a look of concern. The fire in her eyes slowly diminished as she slouched in her seat. " I just..." She looked to the ceiling as if she was begging for something up there to get her out of situation she was in. " I just..." she crossed her arms before facing forward. Glen noticed that instead of looking him in the eye, she kept her sight trained to his right ear. If Glen had turned around, he'd see what she was seeing. A person. A BOY. Looking directly at her. Her eyebrows furrowed before she turned back to her brother. " ...I'm just not having a good day is all."

" It's only lunch time. What happened?"

" Glen, you know me. I just get caught up in my head, ya know?" She picked up her spoon and scooped up a bit of food. She didn't eat it. She just held it up to her face. " There's nothing to worry about."

He was unconvinced. She knew that. His faced hardened. She wasn't lying, but she also wasn't telling the truth. Whenever he asked her if she was okay, she'd always give him vague answers.

' I'm fine.'

' Just my head is all.'

' Just my thoughts is all.'

' Just me being me.'

They've always been enough to get him off her back, but now he's seemed to have caught on to her lies laced with truth. He never understood why she kept things from him. They've both been through so much together. They weren't just Glen and Glenda. They were Glen AND Glenda. They were a team. And when one is hurting, the other hurts as well. Why didn't she get that?

Glen looked to the side. He shouldn't make this about him. There's something going on with her, but how could he help her if she wouldn't let him in? He decided to let it go. FOR NOW. He's confident that when she's ready, she'd tell him. And if he had to wait, he'll wait.

" Okay." he rested his hand on top of hers. " You know that I love you, right?"

She nodded.

" And you know that if you need anything or need to talk about anything, I'm here for you...right?"

She nodded again.

Glen's hand went back to his side of the table. "..."

" Okay."

Back at her locker again, Glenda was busy piling the books she didn't need into her locker so she could quickly make it to the parking lot to meet up with Glen to go home. She knew he wouldn't leave her, but she didn't want to make him wait a long time. After zipping up her backpack, she closed her locker and walked to the school's exit.

" Hey!"

She stopped, her hand hovered over the door handle. 'What the fuck?'

She turned around to see the boy she spotted in the cafeteria.

He was tall. Brown hair. Hazel eyes. ' Holy shit. He's cute.'

" Uh...hi?" She took a step back, gripping the strap of her backpack.

" You're...Glenda? Right? " He asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets. Perplexed, she raised a brow. What did this dude want?

"...Yeah that's me." she replied, hesitantly. " You lookin' for my brother or something?"

" No, no. I don't even know your brother. Actually, I barely know anyone around here. I transferred here a few days ago." he held up his hands. " My name's Jeff." he gestured to himself.

'New huh? No wonder he's talking to me. He doesn't know me.'

" Well, hi Jeff. But I kinda have to get going. My ride's waiting for me." She reached for the door a second time.

Jeff grabbed her shoulder. " Wait."

"I didn't stop you to just waste your time." He let her go. " Listen, I've been seeing you around school and I know you saw me today too. I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me sometime? Maybe catch a movie?"

Glenda looked up at him. Eyes widen. Mouth agape. Jeff laughed and pushed her mouth closed. " C'mon there's a new movie coming out Sunday. First picture's at 8. How 'bout it?"

" I don't know..." she bit her lip, trailing off. She scratched the space behind her ear. " I don't even know you. And you definitely don't know me..." She was getting a bad feeling about this. She thought to herself, ' what if this bad feeling is just my head messing with me again? Maybe I should say yes. Just to see what happens. But...my instincts could be right.'

She felt her phone buzz in her pocket. She pulled it out.

Glen was wondering where she was. " Listen, I gotta g-."

" You'll go with me?"

" Uh Yeah sure." she rushed as she hastily took out a sharpie from her back pocket. " Here's my number." She scribbled it on his arm. " Don't worry about the marker. It's nontoxic. You'll be fine. Text me?" She finished stuffing the marker back in her pocket.

Jeff, startled by Glenda's scrambling and rambling, nodded his head. He smiled down at his arm. " YEAH! I'll text you!"

Glenda gave him a quick grin before finally leaving for the parking lot.

She ran up to her brother who was leaning against his car, texting on his phone.

" Yo!" She shouted.

Startled by her outburst, Glen jumped, nearly dropping his phone.

" Jeez Glenda! What took ya so long?" He asked, opening the car door for her. " Mum said she's making spaghetti and I wanna be there before dad and Lottie take all the meatballs!"

" Wait Dad's home?!"

Glen's eyes widened. Oh shit. " I wasn't supposed to tell you that.."

" DAD'S HOME?! " She threw her bag inside and hopped in. " DRIVE, BITCH! DRIVE!"

Glen laughed as he slid into the driver's seat. " Mum's gonna kill me for spoiling the surprise. But maybe now that you're prepared, you won't cry like you did last time."

" Hey! That's not fair! It was right after my play, and I didn't think he was gonna make it!"

" Haaaa keep telling yourself that."

" I thought I told you it was supposed to be a surprise." Tiffany whispered to Glen as she watched her daughter practically smothered her father in a spine breaking hug. The moment she came through the door, she called for him and BOOM! Here they were. Glen set his bag down on the sofa.

" It kind of slipped out in conversation." He grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. His mother's eyes narrowed before softening. She smiled and patted his head. " Sometimes you remind me too much of your father."

He didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing so he just took it as a compliment and smiled back.

" Alright, alright that's enough touching." Chucky wheezed out. " Lemme go." She gave him a few quick squeezes before doing so. " Fuck, you act like I've been gone for years. I was only gone two weeks."

" Two weeks, TOO LONG!" She whined. To be honest, this was the shortest time he's been away. When her parents got back together, her mother and father made a deal: he could keep killing, but keep it away from the house. To make sure the trail of blood he always left never led anyone back to them, he had to go to different cities, different states even." I hate it when you're gone."

Chucky sighed. " I know you do." He gave her one quick pat on the arm as he got up. " C'mon let's eat. Your brother thought he was slick telling you I was here so he could stop me from getting all the meatballs."

"...but that won't stop Lottie from getting them." Glenda said as she sat down at the kitchen table.

Hearing her name, Charlotte aka "Lottie", the youngest in the family, turned her head to look at her father and older sister who had placed their amused gazes in her direction. She was busy piling her plate high with spaghetti. A mischievous grin spread across her face. She reached from behind the bread holder, revealing a hefty container filled with meatballs she had stolen for her father minutes before the twins got home.

Chucky smirked, " ...Exactly."

" So, kids. How was school?" Tiffany asked, twirling her fork. They were sitting together as a family enjoying each other's company. Lottie was the first to speak.

" Annabelle Mullins said I had a creepy face so before lunch I put some of my trail mix in her yogurt."

"...Isn't Annabelle Mullins allergic to the stuff in trail mix?" Glen asked.

"..." Lottie lifted her cup to her lips. " Yes." She took a sip.

Chucky instantly let out a loud cackle when he watched his son's mouth turned into a large 'o'. Glenda leaned over her plate, wheezing, trying hard to contain her own laughter. Tiffany placed her hand over her mouth and looked away.

" It was only a few hives and a closed throat. Nothing to worry about." Lottie reassured. " The nurse had an epipen."

" Thank God for that." Glen exhaled, taking a bite of his dinner.

Chucky coughed out a few more chuckles. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand. " Kid, you're a fuckin' riot." He shifted his gaze to Glen. " What about you, Glen?"

Glen looked up from his plate. " Hmm...nothing unusual. It was just a normal day for me."

" Eh I'll take it." he pointed his fork at Glenda." How 'bout you?"

Glenda stopped eating. Her head didn't move from its spot, but her eyes met with everyone else's when she looked up. She sat up and leaned back in her seat. " I…" she looked to the side as she hesitated.

"...A boy asked me out today."

Chucky felt some pasta go down the wrong pipe.

"W-" he choked. " WHAT?!"

Glen felt some food get stuck in his throat. He pounded his fist against his chest to get the food to go down. And once it did, he turned his sister with a fiery glint in his eye." WHAT?!"

Tiffany and Lottie seemed to be only ones giving a positive reaction. Both their eyes lit up with glee. They squealed in excitement.

" A BOY?!" Tiffany's fork slipped from her hand.

" shut UP!" Lottie slammed her hands against the table.

" When the fuck did this happen?!" Glen exclaimed. His mother sent him chastising glare. Chucky waved his wife off.

" Nah, Tiff don't look at him like that. I'm with the boy. When the FUCK did this happen?!"

Glenda shrank under the stares and glares of her family. " I was about to head out to the parking lot to meet up with Glen and he stopped me before I could leave."

" ...Did you say yeeeees?" Lottie asked. She leaned in, resting her chin in her hand.

Glen, Chucky, and Tiffany turned to her for an answer. She bit her lip and briefly shut her eyes before nodding a 'yes'. She tried her best to fight the smile she had. Her mother and sister's loud squeals made it more difficult.

" It's no big deal! I don't know why you guys are acting so crazy about it." She poked a meatball with her fork. " It's just a date."

Tiffany smiled. " Sweetie, this isn't just A date. This is THE DATE! Your first date! This is every mother's dream!"

" Yeah and every father's nightmare." Chucky murmured. He ran a hand through his hair. Tiffany swatted his arm.

" Don't say that Chucky. We should be happy for her." She scolded him. " So when is it?"

" He said Sunday at 8. We're going to a movie."

" OH MY GOD!" Tiffany gasped. " Do you know what this means?"

Chucky rolled his eyes. " No, babe I don't. Tell me."

" We only have a fucking day to get her READY! Sweetface, tomorrow, your sister and I are taking you shopping. We're going to get you all dolled up!"

Glenda had just hopped out the shower. Freshly cleaned, doused with the scent of her brother's body wash that she still won't admit to stealing. She scrubbed the last bit of dampness from her hair with her towel then threw it into the hamper next to the bathroom door.

"Glenda?"

She opened the door to see Glen sitting on her bed. His hands were clasped together. His eyes still had that glint from before, but she couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was.

" Can we talk?" He asked her. She raised an eyebrow at her brother.

" We're already talking." She smirked. He returned the gesture whilst calling her a smartass.

" You know what I mean. It's about your 'date'?" He put up air quotations around the word date then stood up. " Look, I have a bad feeling about this. I mean, you just met the guy...TODAY! Like...are you SURE you wanna go through with this?"

" Well, what else am I supposed to do, Glen? Just let the ONE guy who wasn't too chicken shit to ask me out get away?" Why can't he understand this? This was her time to show someone she was at least SEMI normal. Her time to finally get what? A friend? A boyfriend? She didn't know. Her jaw clenched.

" Glenda, listen I-"

" No, YOU listen." Her voice shook. She took a step forward. " I'm going on this date whether you like it or not. Now, can you please be my brother and, I don't know, SUPPORT ME?! ...PLEASE?!"

There was a long pause between the two. Glenda looked up at her brother with a pleading gaze. It took a while for Glen to finally give in. He sighed, nodding his head.

" ...fine." he crossed his arms, looking to the side. She gripped a lock of her hair. She looked down at the ground before looking back up. " Hey."

His eyes shifted back to her.

She wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder.

" I know you're just trying to protect me, but I gotta do this. I.."

She was stopped by her brother returning the hug. " I get it." He said resting his cheek on the top of her head. " But what kind of brother would I be if I didn't worry about you?"

" A really cool one."

Glen let out a wheezed filled cackle. " I hate you so much sometimes."

" It's a talent." She gave her brother a pat on the back.

He let her go, but not before placing a quick kiss on the top of her head. He walked over to his side of the room.

"G'night."

"G'night."
